Remember the Stars by Natalie-Nicole Bates @BatesNatalie @BeyondWordsBT

Waking up in the gutter, for Leah Rhodes, life as she knows it has just changed forever. In the dark surroundings of her distant past, a familiar man stands out in the confusion. But Remy Moreland has been dead for years.
It soon becomes apparent to Leah that both she and Remy are trapped in a hell of their own making. Can one night together not only lead to the way out, but to love as well?

Excerpt:

Barefoot, she crossed the dark street and began making her way in the direction of the police station. If she remembered correctly, it was three blocks away. A chill rose on her skin as she tried to remain focused. She concentrated on taking one agonizing footstep in front of the other.

When she crossed over the first street, she stopped to rest beneath a street light. Leaning up against the side of a brick house, she took notice of how eerily quiet her surroundings were. The only sound was her own breathing. There simply was nothing, and no one. Was she truly alone? She wondered.

She shook off the intrusive thought. Of course she wasn’t alone. Remy Moreland was real. Well, the late Remy Moreland was sort of real. Maybe surreal was a better word.

He had spun some tale of purgatory, of languishing between life and death. Then a thought struck her like a blow from above.

What if he was telling the truth?

Online Poetry Classes

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read this page. I’ve been teaching writing classes in an online format at Edmonds Community College for several years. During the month of April 2013, I’m offering an independent 100% online poetry writing workshop. As this is the first of what I hope will be many online poetry workshops, the price for the class is just $50. You can sign up for the class using the PayPal button below (or contact me if you need to use an alternate means of payment).

The class has a limit of 12 students, so you’ll be sure to get personalized feedback on your work. You’ll write four poems over the course of the month (April 1-30), and I’ll give you constructive comments on all four pieces. We’ll also read a variety of published poetry and do freewriting exercises…

Chaos Theories

Editorial Reviews

Review

“When I read a book, I look for two things. I want to be captivated by strong writing and I want to be entertained. Chaos Theories manages both.”  – Nick Wale,  Novel Ideas

Author Bio – Stephen H Banks

Stephen H. Banks

When Stephen Banks was in high school, his Career/Guidance counselor looked at his test scores and said “You could do anything.” Without any clear direction, Stephen tried a little of everything instead. He majored in Theater at Bennington College for a year, dropped out, married his high school sweetheart, and started a family while bouncing around between jobs – electrician, auto mechanic, shipyard mechanic and retail manager. Eventually he started selling PC’s, taught himself programming, and worked his way up to become CTO of several small companies. Stephen now works as an independent consultant and novelist. In his spare time, Stephen acts, directs and writes for a number of community theaters and independent film companies. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two cats.
