Ethan Parker is a sort of loner. When he comes to hear a girl crying night after night next door, he finally does the right thing. They form a friendship and bond that is really sweet. He has a bad past that is scarred him. As for Emily, her growing up is equally as bad. What I liked about the book was the potential. I know it was a novella, but it could rival some best sellers. I hope somewhere there is an extended version that would fill in the missing parts. I sincerely liked the book and felt like it was more of an outline to something that can be huge.
