The Wanted Bride By Sylvia McDaniel @WriterSylvia @GHBT *Review*

the wanted bride

Review:

First off this is a romantic comedy must read!  The book is centered on Valerie Burrows who is about to go postal!. Wait too late she already did!. She is running from her own wedding. The circumstances behind this fiasco are given in small doses. It all keeps the plot moving rather fast. There are just as many serious parts as comedic moments. I loved when she finds her way to Colorado. The trip, the reasons for changing buses along the way are hilarious!.

She goes to pay her check at the diner and faints. That old bitch on the bus stole her wallet and she can’t pay. Having no cash, credit cards or place to stay she looks sadly at Fran and asks for help. She gets lucky with a job and a room to rent. Then things start to happen. Reveal? me? no spoilers sorry.

What I loved was the serious parts when she meets and moves in with MacKenzie. Matt Jordan, is MacKenzie’s brother, aka the Colorado Crusher, is the most successful liability lawyer in the state. After the death of his brother-in-law, he realizes he’s ready to settle down with a family of his own. He is the BEST brother anyone could ask for. He really loves his sister and is always there to help.

I say READ it now. My chick lit fans will gobble it up. Perfect beach read.

Excerpt

In forty-eight hours a girl’s life could change completely.

Valerie stepped off the bus in the small town of Springtown, Colorado. Population 294. Salute!
In Amarillo she’d bought a ticket to Denver and pitched her wedding gown in the trash. After sitting beside a drug dealer all the way to Albuquerque, being proposed to by a parolee on
the way to Santa Fe, and awakening to an elderly woman riffling through her Louis Vuitton carry-on, it was time to ditch public transportation. She’d take a taxi to the nearest car rental
place and continue her journey in her own set of wheels.

The air brakes hissed as the driver released them, and the bus pulled away from the depot, which consisted of a bench in front of a café. The cold wind whipped right through her thin
clothes as she stood alone on the street. She pushed open the door to the small diner. A “Help
Wanted” sign banged against the glass. The greasy spoon was filled to capacity in the late evening, but suddenly her stomach growled, reminding her the Snickers bar she’d eaten in
Albuquerque was not a five-course meal.

The café grew quiet as Valerie pulled her luggage across the wooden floor, the wheels thump, thump, thumping. She sat down, sighing in relief, and the chatter resumed. She desperately needed a latte grande. A woman with stained white sneakers and a food splattered
dress stopped at her booth.

“What can I get you?” she asked.

“I’d like eggs Benedict with a skim, no whip, pumpkin spice latte. Make it a grande.”

The waitress glanced at her matching luggage. “Honey, I think you must have missed your bus stop. This here is Springtown, not Vail. I’m not Martha Stewart, and I don’t do lattes.”

Valerie frowned and bit back the quick retort that sprang to her lips. Had the woman never heard of Starbucks? “What do you have?” she asked, wondering if the bus had dropped her off on Mars, or if she was starring in her own personal Twilight Zone episode.

“Did you look at the menu?”

“No.”

“I’d suggest you start there,” the waitress said.

“Give me two eggs over easy, with coffee.” Valerie replied.

“Do you have any hazelnut cream to go in the coffee?”
“Here in Springtown our cows don’t produce flavors.” She pushed her pen back behind her ear. “My name is Fran if you need anything else.”

The waitress hurried off. Valerie gazed around the café and noticed the sheriff and a guy whose dark looks would normally have taken her breath away occupied a booth across the room.
However, in the last forty-eight hours she’d sworn off men. Today her heart pounded a little harder, but only because the sheriff sat across from the tall, dark, handsome man. Surely two
states away no one would be searching for her. Yet.

With the number of criminals loose in this world, why would law enforcement be interested in a good girl with a temporary case of wedding insanity from Dallas? Her crime was minor
compared to the act of her two best friends. Or since they’d betrayed her, were they really her friends?

18-year old Paige Rice, an exquisite beauty from East Hampton, NY, has just celebrated her high school graduation and is expecting to spend her summer living it up with all her socialite friends. But her parents have a different idea – she is being hauled away-literally- to the mountains of Vermont for the entire summer- in an RV!

Assuming she will be an outcast amongst the other teens at the campground still does not prepare her for the treatment she receives, which is far worse than she imagined. She also isn’t prepared for Travis, the campground owner’s son and the “Sexiest” guy she has ever laid eyes on. Travis is the only one who shows any interest in getting to know Paige. Inspire Interview

1. Where did the idea for Inspire come from?
I was actually camping with my family when the idea for the story came to me. We had just hiked through the woods down to a lake, and I was staring out at the boats when it hit me. I spent the rest of the afternoon “daydreaming” away.
2. How did you come up with the name of the title?
My protagonist, Paige, has a tattoo that inspired the title “Inspire.” It’s also a key part of her character.
3. What was the hardest part of writing Inspire? The easiest?
The hardest part of writing the book was writing the ending. It took a couple of drafts before I was happy with the way I was leaving off. (I’m trying not to give too much away, so I’ll leave it at that.) The easiest part was writing the dialogue between Paige and Travis, and the “LOVE” scenes. They were fun to write!!
4. Are you working on any other projects?
Yes. At least two of the other characters from this book are getting their own stories, and then there are a couple other projects in the works.
5. Do you have a specific writing process?
I really consider myself a mix between a panster and a plotter. The first part of my process is visualizing the characters and the main scenes of the book. My mind starts playing them out like a movie, and so I write it down exactly how I see it. Then, I go back and fill in the story around those scenes until I have a book that I would like to jump into. Although I outline my book ahead of time, things always change along the way as I get to know my characters better.
6. Do you have a certain time of day where you feel most creative?
Honestly, not really. I usually always have a notebook nearby so that I can scribble down things as they come to me. I could be in the shower, in the car, running through the check-out line, or making dinner and something may hit me.
7. Do you have any favorite authors?
Yes, I have LOTS of favorite authors, but the two that stick out the most are: S.C. Stephens and Abbi Glines. Their stories come to life for me, and I have a thing for their leading men!
8. What tips or advice do you have for other aspiring writers?
My first tip would be to write what you love! Second, edit, edit and edit some more. And third, if you’re a self-published author, let someone else do your formatting. (Your time saved is so worth the money!)

Heather
By no surprise my favorite hobbies are reading and writing. But beyond escaping into the written fantasy world, I love experiencing new things. Surfing, motorcycle riding, snow blading, glass blowing, parasailing, SUP boarding are just a few that I have checked off my bucket list, but there is still so much more to explore. Right now, being a mom is my biggest adventure and the best by far!! In the quiet calm hours of the night though, I can usually be found typing away creating a world of romance where drama still exists but love (hopefully!!) always prevails.

Backpackers

When rock star Jack Wolf tries to kill himself, he realizes his fame and riches mean nothing. He sets off on a quest to find the only girl he ever loved: Cath Pearson. But the last time he saw her was 10 years previously in south east Asia, where she rejected him. Rock star Jack Wolf is so bored of being famous he tries to commit suicide. Encouraged to find something to believe in, he begins a quest to find the only girl he ever loved: Cath Pearson.

He tracks her through the backpackers she met after they parted. But the more he learns about Cath, the more he realizes how empty his life is, and how much emotional turmoil people cope with outside the trappings of fame.
A collision between the hedonism and gritty realism of Skins and the music world of Almost Famous, Backpackers is a road journey through sex, drugs, rock’n’roll and the tropics.
Told through the eyes of the backpackers Cath met as she traveled around south-east Asia. Jack slowly learns what happened after they parted. But the more he learns, the more he fears Cath may no longer be alive.

I want to make it known this is a gift from me. If I like a book and want to share it, I do it from my heart. That being said, the only reviews I will post are really good books that I personally have read and want others to enjoy. If you don’t want the book, then don’t enter to win a copy and cash it in for Amazon credit. This has caused me to again think of another way to show support to authors I love. When you do that it is a “return” and Amazon deducts from the author, not me.
