The Bow Wow Club by Nicola May @NicolaMay1 #review

the bow wow club 17796110

As per my usual starting sentence, I love me some chick lit. Yes I love the style in which Nicola May writes. Mostly I enjoy the “real” aspect. Because it is sad, humerus and sexy, but not over the top. The people in her books are not wealthy, millionaires who flaunt or voluptuous woman. They are very relate-able to me. The main character is Ruby and she is at a turning point in her life. Tragedy strikes and it is a great exploration of loss. I feel so bad for her losing her husband! He was the love of her life in such a way that it hurts to read that part. smiles angel

The sub characters like Fiona (Fi) are just the remedy for what ales poor Ruby. It is a VERY touching story. After Ruby is at her lowest who comes charging in? Fiona, strong, loving,  and demanding. She surely gets Ruby out of the slump and back into the game. Ruby goes to a group Bow Wow Club (Boyfriends of Widows, Wives of Widowers). Therapy and a HUGE reveal change Ruby’s future forever. When Ruby meets Michael I was hopeful. I thought maybe it was too soon but he was good medicine. (gushing here at the racy scenes) It goes up and down and then you gasp out loud at the reveal.happy jumping smiley5

Overall I think this has been her best book so far. I see the difference in emotions and character development. She keeps you guessing about a few things and that is the build up I like in a book. I enjoyed this book more than The School Gates and Better Together. I did not think that was possible. Better Together was equally as sexy as this one.

Better Together by Nicola May @nicolamay1 #review

Better Together

Jess is nearly 40 when she meets Dan Harris at a party. She is single, sorted, happy – with a great job and a buzzy social and sex-life. All of this is threatened when she falls deeply in love with Dan, who is only 23.

Jess, being older, recognises this as the real, precious thing – but in his immaturity, Dan does not. Unable to cope with the stigma of being with an older woman, he eventually leaves her.

Ten years pass…

Jess, who is still gorgeous at 50, is married now, with a child of her own. They meet again. The years fall away.
This time, Dan understands – but is it too late?

My review:

Well I really enjoyed this one. There were parts that made me so sad and parts that I yelled at the book. sometimes walking away from someone is the hardest thing to do and Jess killed me when she did that. I think the love of her life was there, and so what he was younger! I was filled with angst!

I was being a little selfish thinking that I wanted more. I think the book could have been longer. One of my favorite quotes was “Being honest with you, Jess, I actually arranged to see Dave later as I knew that we’d be at it like rabbits if not. And as I am officially on the rebound, that wouldn’t be acceptable, now would it?

I think I hit a little jackpot meeting this author. Now I set out to read the rest of the books and plan a bundle giveaway! She needs to get some press from the states ladies read on!!

My Quotes and Notes

‘Being honest with you, Jess, I actually arranged to see Dave later as I knew that we’d be at it like rabbits if not. And as I am officially on the rebound, that wouldn’t be acceptable, now would it?’

She wanted to taunt this man, who had so readily dismissed her, the minute she had told him she was pregnant with his child. She was so lucky to have met Dan when she did, and was so easily able to pass Evie off as his. ‘Of course I haven’t told him. I’m not that stupid.

‘I don’t care.’ Jess said her voice beginning to crack. ‘I love being with you. It’s the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. You make me…’ She was lost for words. ‘We’re better together that’s all.’ She couldn’t contain her tears any longer.

Sam waved his beautiful wife and daughter off of the drive. Tears stung his eyes at the nature of his betrayal. What on earth was he thinking? How could he possibly even think of leaving this wonderful woman, adorable child and settled life behind for what?

It was incomprehensible; Sam was the father of Dan’s child! How could that be?

At least now, with him gone from their lives, she and Freya could move on, with no deceit hanging over them. Just pure honesty, trust and love.

Title: Wanted:  Wife

Author:  Gwen Jones

Review:

Andy Devine is advertising for a wife on a utility pole, and interviewing him is the last thing TV reporter Julie Knott needs. Especially after her cheating fiancé just tweeted their disengagement. Now she has got to choose: get the story—or become it? Whatever you are thinking, stop! It is a very fluffy book, but something I call chick-lit contemporary with a brain. This was a really smart book. What you think about the premise is so off from what the story line goes.

 smiles challengeshappy thinking

When Julie first meets Andy she is smitten to say the least, and the fact that it takes a few days for her to agree to marry him is pretty funny. I myself would have been in the court-house filing for a license faster than you say I DO. Regardless of what I would have done to Andy, we need to remember that the story line and cute little tag about the advert for a wife, is catchy but not the true meat. The true juice comes from Andy’s past, not Julie. Now I am trying my best at composure!

lots of steam

Don’t miss this debut. I wish I could give one snip of a tiny spoiler but I can’t. Well ok I will. Julie has a few moments where I thought “OMG she is a conniving bitch and she is plotting against Andy” I mean for a while I was up and down with where the story would lead. Well I will admit it had a high heat factor. Along with the heat went some naughty stuff. If I can really be honest it was lovey dovey in parts and swoon worthy too. So save it for a Swoon Thursday Meme.

big swoon

I say read it NOW. Please know that I can’t give away anything, but will say there are a few reveals that will make you gasp out loud. Not the way you thought it would go at all. What I find equally surprising is the author wrote a few books and considered them not so worthy. I have no clue why, she is great. We need more of these debut with fresh ideas. How refreshing!

In Too Deep by Michelle Kemper Brownlow @MK_Brownlow #review #mustread @giselleco

Review:

I loved the book. What made me like it more was a few snarky reviews. I love when people write really negative and have no clue what they are talking about. If you read this book like I did, you would love it. The entire Gracie saga was scary, real, and happens a lot. Gracie is innocence! Noah, well she fell hard for him. The best parts of the book where going on in Gracie’s head. She tried to convince herself that Noah was not a turd. She tried over and over to justify things he did and said. Actions speak louder than words. Noah said it all but underneath he was a turd.

I want nothing more at this time than to tell you what happened about 70% through. I can’t but I will say for the ignorant people who said bad things about Gracie, have never been in love. She was broken down by Noah in the worst way. If you know someone like her, a good friend who fell for the frat boy and just wanted that so bad she would do anything for him. She listened to each lie and when it all unfolds WOW it is awesome. I am still stunned at what his actions did to her. When Jake, who was Noah’s former roommate is involved because he has Gracie’s back. You will be stunned. Poor Jake can’t watch this train wreck any longer. It goes to show how some guys stick together and some are outstanding! Jake was so outstanding!

Bravo to the author for the REAL aspect. I loved this book and I hope you will too.

Giving You Forever by Ashley Wilcox @ashleywilcox55 #teaser

GIVING YOU FOREVER TEASER

POSTED ON JUN 13, 2013

***This scene contains adult language and content***

To the minute, I pull into our driveway at exactly six o’clock and go to the front door to ring the doorbell.  I smile to myself as I picture Alexa’s face; she is probably wondering who the hell could be ringing the doorbell when I’m supposed to be home by now.  As expected, she swings the front door open wearing a less than enthused smile, but also wearing a jaw dropping, instant hard-on, tight black dress.

Holy fuck!

Her forced smile turns genuine as she sees me standing on the other side holding a large bouquet of calla lilies- her favorite.

“I’m not sure I have the right address…” I look at a random scrap piece of paper in my pocket.  “I was supposed to pick up a pretty girl at this house number at approximately six o’clock, but you are too damn sexy to be just considered pretty.”

Licking her lips and letting out a sweet little giggle, her cheeks flush an adorable shade of pink as she shakes her head and smiles.

“Well, I guess you’re gonna have to settle for sexy tonight then,” she responds in a hot as hell seductive voice.

Suddenly I’m thinking the fifty dollar cancellation charge for the restaurant would be money well spent if it meant having my way with her in our bedroom right now, but my girl deserves a night of being spoiled and pampered, so that’s what she’s going to get. Ripping off that sexy little number will have to wait until later.

“I can deal with sexy,” I answer, taking a step forward and pulling her in close.

Alexa rests her hand on my chest and leans in to me. When she is only inches away from my mouth, she purrs, “I bet you can.”

Swallowing hard, and trying not to think about the overwhelming urge to push her back into the house and fuck her in the hallway, I take a handful of her sweet little ass instead.  “We better get going, Mrs. Pratt, or we’re going to be late for our reservation.”

Shaking her head with a devilish grin, she says, “Not yet, Mr. Pratt. I’ve got ten more months of being single before I become a Mrs.”

“Uh, you’re far from single, sweetheart.  This…” I glance down her body, “is all fucking mine- certificate or not.”

Clearly turned on by my words, she bites her bottom lip and runs her hand down my chest and over the bulge in my pants.

“And this, my dear…” she gently squeezes my junk, “is all fricken mine.”

Yup, dinner is gonna have to wait!

Pulling her in tight, I push into the house, slamming the door behind me. She giggles at my forcefulness and starts unbuckling my pants.

“We’re gonna have to make this quick, baby doll,” I growl into her neck as I help her get my pants undone.

“Uh huh,” she agrees, pulling down her thong.

Picking Alexa up and pressing her against the wall, I push two fingers deep inside of her, checking to see how ready she really is.

“So wet,” I grin before pulling them out and licking her arousal from my fingers. I wish I had time to indulge in her sweet taste, but knowing that time is of the essence, I slide my cock hard inside instead, making her scream for the lord.

“Yeah, baby…harder!” she cries out, turning every last ounce of me on as she holds her legs so tight around my waist.

I push in harder and faster, seducing her mouth with mine. Just as I promised, within minutes we’re screaming each other’s names, and I fill her with what will someday make our babies.  Alexa’s on the pill, so it’s just a trial run for my boys now.
