Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right?

Well, every day is like that for Jessalyn Bell. Falling victim to a streak of extremely bad luck, Jessalyn can rarely go a day without encountering a disastrous occurrence. Her parents’ divorce, her inability to meet quota at her sales job, and the incident in which she’s mistakenly arrested are just the beginning. There’s also the fact that every single date with her boyfriend Kyle goes wrong.

Unpleasant surprises wait around every corner, but through her various misadventures Jessalyn comes to realize that every cloud has a silver lining, that friendships can develop in the most unlikely places, and that love and romance are every bit as spontaneous and unpredictable as a bout of bad luck.

Where I’m From:
I was an Air Force brat growing up, so I’m not really sure where I’m from. I was born in California, then moved to Germany, then moved to New Mexico. New Mexico is usually where I say I’m from, since that’s where I lived the longest. Alamogordo is my hometown. You’ve probably never heard of it. Most people haven’t. And those who have wish that they hadn’t.

Here’s a photo of Alamogordo, New Mexico from Wikipedia. It pretty much sums it up.

Yeah, there’s nothing there. Except for a water tower and tumbleweeds. And dirt. Lots of it.

What I Do:
By day, I work as an editor and graphic designer for a magazine publishing company. By night, I write novels just for kicks.

When and Why I Decided to Become a Writer:
I think I was ten years old the first time I thought about becoming a published author. At the time, I was completely obsessed with R.L. Stine, The Boxcar Children, and Sweet Valley High. When I wasn’t reading those books, I was combing the shelves at the school library for any and every fiction book written for children. I quickly became obsessed with creative writing, and began writing short stories. A couple of them won school awards and my head swelled to the size of the Goodyear Blimp. Then I entered the same stories in a citywide competition, and when they lost I came crashing back down to reality. My artwork, meanwhile, went on to win city and statewide awards. Art became my main focus, but I never stopped writing.

Hobbies and Interests:
I like to bake, and cook, but I don’t do much of either lately because I have two babies in diapers. Being a mommy is awesome, and it takes a lot of time. I’ve always been a big movie-goer, and I’m usually watching an action flick or slapstick comedy of some sort. As much as I love to write, I also have a passion for graphic design. It’s what I went to school for, and what pays the bills.

Note: This novel contains mature content, sexuality, and adult language.
