Review

This is probably one of the rare series, sequels, trilogy books that claim to be a stand alone and really is. If you didnt read the others, which I didnt, you can still enjoy this one. I liked Harper and when Harper meets Chance. I have not ever read a book where a character is a professional poker player so I say KUDOS for being very very unique!
Obviously Chance is a loner and travels a lot, so there are no big roots to settle anywhere. He learns of the death of his ex wife, and surprise, he has a daughter.

I would read it for Chance Landon’s character alone. It is a very interesting tale especially if you enjoy this genre. Grab it!

Incredible Dreams by S.E Felida #spotlight #excerpt

Leona, a woman in her late twenties who has been dreaming about a guy that she doesn’t know finally sees him in real life one day, but she doesn’t approach him out of bizarreness of the whole situation and that leaves her with an feeling of missed opportunity, so when life gives her a second chance she grabs it with both hands. Nathaniel, a police officer who’s been on a hunt to find his brother’s killer for over a year now turns out to be
a dreamguy in real life too, and while things are going great between the two of them, Leona’s long life friendship with her dear friend Naomi isn’t. Resenting the thought of having to choose between the two of them she and her two friends Alyssa and Alexandra come up with an idea to whisk Naomi away for a little holiday in the hopes that after they’d spend some quality time together things would finally go back to the way it used to be, but it doesn’t and when Marcus, Naomi’s current boyfriend who followed them out there confesses something to Leona that she really wished he hadn’t, she keeps finding it harder and harder to even look her best friend in the eyes without feeling like the worst friend ever…
About S.E Felida:
I was born in Curacao, a small Island in the Caribbean. But I’m currently living in Holland with my husband
and our three boys, I’m still in school and I’m studying to become a kindergarten teacher, I go to school two times a week and the remaining of the week I am a teacher’s aide at a kindergarten. I’ve always loved to read books and to write short stories and poetry, I began writing at the age of eleven. In my spare time you can find me in the kitchen, on the soccer fields to watch my sons play, reading, writing or having a girls night out with my lovely ladies.

We arrived at Club N
around two and I excused myself straight away to go and find Naomi. I couldn’t see her anywhere in the main club, so I made my way up to the office. Her door was slightly open and she was sitting at her desk; it seemed like she was talking to someone but there was no one to be seen. Thinking she was on the phone I waited for her to finish, but after a few minutes I noticed her cell lying on the corner of her desk. Could I be about to interrupt her on some sort of office booty call?  The thought of someone hidden under the desk, pleasuring my friend, made me want to laugh out loud. Oh my God, no; Naomi wasn’t that kind of girl. She was far too shy for that, especially with the door open.
I leaned in closer to try and make out what she was saying and could only just about hear her whispers. “Stop asking me to do that, I wouldn’t do that to her, she’s one of my best friends and I love her to death.” She was almost crying and sounded slightly unhinged as she talked. “Even if I wanted to do it, I couldn’t because he’s always with her. Just stop it, I can’t handle you in my head anymore, get out, get out and leave me alone.”
She sat on the floor and curled her knees up into her arms, then she started rocking back and forth like an upset child. All of a sudden she began hitting herself on the head and between sobs, started chanting, “Get out of my head, get out of my head, I won’t do it, I won’t do it, I won’t.” What the hell is going on? Who is she talking to?
Unable to bear seeing my friend like this any longer I tried to decide the best thing to do. It was starting to freak me out. Had she lost her mind? Was she seeing ghosts? Was she possessed? Every frightening scenario flashed through my mind in those moments and I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t want her to think I was spying on her.
I decided I couldn’t leave her like this, so I pushed the door wide open and walked over to her on the floor. I tapped her on the shoulder and called out to her but she didn’t react. I tried again, louder this time, “Naomi! What the hell is wrong with you girl?”
She turned to look at me, but her face was almost unrecognizable. She was so pale, as if all the blood has rushed from her face, and her pupils were fully dilated. I didn’t want to say it, but she looked scary. Mascara trails created crooked black paths from her eyes, down her cheeks and over her nose, and she was looking
straight through me. As if I wasn’t really there. She didn’t look like Naomi at all and it sent chills down my spine.
I knelt down beside her and threw my arms around her shoulders, trying my best to comfort her. “Naomi, please answer me, what’s wrong? Who were you talking to?” She didn’t respond; it was as if she was in some kind of trance and I couldn’t pull herout of it.
Beginning to get desperate for a reaction, any reaction would do right now, I took her arms in my hands and shook her violently. That only seemed to agitate her though, and she screamed in my ears, “I won’t do it, I won’t!”
Not knowing what else to try, I text the girls and told them I needed help. I thought it was best not to let the guys in on this though, so I mentioned to leave them downstairs. It had crossed my mind that Naomi had taken some sort of drug to make her so out of character and I didn’t want her to get arrested. Even if she hadn’t, it
wasn’t very nice for them to see her like this. The girls didn’t listen though, and when they arrived Nathaniel walked in behind them, both Joshua and Anthony were in tow.
“Wow, I sensed that something was really bad up here and I wasn’t wrong, was I?”
The first thing they did was switch on the lights; I had already grown so accustomed to the dark in my haste to get through to Naomi that I didn’t even notice the lights were still off. “What’s wrong with your friend, Leona? Why is she crying there on the floor? Did you argue with her as well?”
Wow, Nate didn’t just say that did he? I swear I’d never felt the urge to slap someone in my life, as much as
I wanted to slap him right then. Not even Vivian.
Right now wasn’t the time to get into an argument though, so I ignored him. Besides, I knew that he was only trying to provoke me in an attempt to get me to speak to him again. Realizing that he wasn’t going to get a rise from me, he took control of the situation; telling the girls to clear Naomi’s desk and getting Joshua to help
him put her on it.
As he picked her up, she draped her arms around him, and for a split second it seemed like she was nuzzling his neck. She breathed heavily, her chest heaving as she took in his scent. I thought I was imagining it until she held on to the back of his head and grinned at me. What the hell was she playing at? I wanted to say something, but she let loose my gaze in the blink of an eye. It all happened so quickly that I began to second guess myself as to whether it had actually happened. Could my mind be playing tricks on me? It’s feasible that I had too many glasses of wine at the party.
“Anthony, go and ask the door staff if they have any of those smelling salts they use on people when they faint.” Nathaniel’s words snapped me out of my thoughts. “You’re not really going to use them on her are you? If she’s not resistant nothing good will come of it.” Anthony was apprehensive and when Joshua tried to assure him that Nate knew what he was doing, he snapped back at his friend and stormed out of the room, muttering under his breath. Alexandra tried talking to Naomi but she couldn’t get through to her either. She looked right through her with vacant eyes and caressed Alyssa’s face, murmuring over and over that she was a “pretty lady.” They asked if I thought she was on something and I had to let them know that I wasn’t sure. “She didn’t recognize me either,
I don’t know what’s wrong. I didn’t think she’d taken anything at first, but this is all starting to look like a trip, a trip that’s gone really wrong.”
Nathaniel and Joshua were standing in the corner, clearly talking about something that we weren’t supposed to hear. I just prayed that they weren’t about to take her down town for a drug test. The whole time they were whispering, Nate never took his eyes off me. I hated it when he looked at me like that, he could always draw me in with his stunningly chocolate eyes, and even though I needed to stay focused for Naomi, somehow I just couldn’t help but to stare right back at him.
A few minutes later, Anthony finally returned with a small capsule which Nathaniel took and placed under Naomi’s nose. It was amazing, within seconds she began to breath quickly and slowly but surely came back to her normal self. When she snapped out of whatever she was on, she was shocked to find all of us in her office. “What happened?”  She asked me, confused. She couldn’t remember anything from the last couple of hours.
I talked her through what had gone on, from when I found her sitting at her desk until now; she had no recollection of doing any of those things. I believed her because she couldn’t fake an embarrassment like that even if she tried. She looked exhausted and said that all she wanted to do was sleep.
Alyssa suggested we take her to the hospital for a checkup and we all agreed that it was the safest decision. We still didn’t know what had happened to her, so if she had been on drugs, the results would tell.

Desire (The Seductors Series Vol. 1) By B.L. Wilde @BeeWilde1

Cover Design by Jo Matthews
Genre: Erotica
Scheduled Release: December 6, 2013

Summary:

Jade has worked as a Seductor in a secret organization for five years now. Her main job? To earn the trust of her targets and secure the object or information her company was hired to steal—by any means necessary. She’s damn good at it, too. With five years left on her contract, she is handed an assignment that turns her world upside down.

Oliver Kirkham is the attractive, young CEO of Kirkham Industries, a weapons manufacturing company, and is currently in possession of some very important blueprints—blueprints that could change the way war, as we know it, works. He’s extremely focused and doesn’t have time to date, at least until he comes to the rescue of a shy but very alluring Jade Gibbs.

What happens when one night of passion turns into more? Will Jade allow her feelings for Oliver to get in the way of her mission? Or will she do what she was hired to do and secure the steal?

Excerpt:

Oliver wined and dined me with style. The conversation followed effortlessly, and a few hours later we were back in the bar having a nightcap.
“I really can’t thank you enough for dinner, Oliver.”
“It was my pleasure, Jade. I’ve enjoyed your companionship immensely tonight.”
“Do you really own your own company?”
“Why do you ask that?” he chuckled into his coffee.
“You’re so young and…fun. I thought CEOs were supposed to be bald with beer bellies, and be too stressed out to even crack a smile.”
“Are those the kind of CEOs you have as your clients?”
“Yes,” I laughed.
“These interior art skills of yours—how much do they cost?”
“Are you interested in utilizing my skills, Oliver?”
“I’m very interested, Miss Gibbs.” Oliver’s look became almost predatory.
“Maybe we should take this conversation elsewhere, then?” I suggested, looking around the bar.
“Where did you have in mind?” he asked, moving a little closer, his hand lightly skimming my leg.
“I was thinking of retiring for the night. It’s getting quite late,” I breathed, stretching out to play with his tie.
“Alone?”
“Actually, I was kind of hoping for some company,” I whispered timidly, pushing off my stool and slowly walking toward the lobby area. Counting to five, I turned to see Oliver walking toward me, looking dark and dangerously handsome. I was actually looking forward to seeing if this guy was any good in bed.
I pushed the button for the elevator and leaned against the wall just as he caught up with me.
“I hope I’m reading these signs correctly,” he grinned just as the elevator doors opened. With a small grin, I stepped in and pulled him with me. Oliver crashed his lips against mine right as the doors closed behind us.
Kissing was second nature to me. I could fake desire, even if it felt like I was kissing a wet fish, but as Oliver lifted me by my ass and pinned me against the elevator wall, I groaned in actual pleasure. I didn’t have to fake it. Desire flooded through my veins as I ran my hands into his dark hair.
“Christ, you’re beautiful,” he groaned, his lips moving down my neck while his hands began to fumble for the hem of my dress. I was about to start dry humping the guy if he kept on like he was.
“Ugh…” I groaned as his hands worked their way under my dress and he gripped my ass cheeks roughly. “Oliver…ugh…which floor?” He leaned toward the elevator buttons with me still wrapped around him, and pressed a button before quickly returning to attacking my neck.
“I saw you the moment I walked into the bar tonight,” he purred, his hands running slowly down my chest. Both my legs were wrapped around his waist. “And I wanted you.”
“Ugh…I…I’m flattered,” I said, forcing a blush. The elevator opened and Oliver finally let me go. As I slid down his body, I could feel his muscles through his shirt. Mm…it really was going to be a fun few months.
“I want you to know I don’t usually do this sort of thing,” I muttered, playing with the zipper on my purse while he opened his bedroom door.
“Neither do I.” He shook his head as if to clear it from a random thought, and somehow, I didn’t believe him. He was too smooth and confident to have never picked a girl up in a bar before.
“Wow, your room is so much bigger than mine!” I acted awestruck, gazing around as I placed my bag on a table. “Is this just the living area?” I gasped, turning to see that he was suddenly right in front of me. He responded by crashing his lips against mine while backing me against the wall.
“I don’t want to make small talk anymore. I just want to fuck you, Jade,” he growled into my ear. Holy crap! I was so turned on; I could feel the wetness between my legs begin to flow. His hands came back up underneath my dress, but rather than grab my ass like he had in the elevator, he simply pulled my panties down. “Do you want me to fuck you?”
“YES!” It was a plea, because in that moment, I’d never wanted anything more. I heard his belt buckle and the sound of foil before he was suddenly slamming me hard against the wall. Fuck, I’d dreamed of being taken this way, but never once had I thought it would happen. Who was this guy?

“I’m going to make you cum harder than you’ve ever cum before,” he smoldered into my ear. His fingers slowly teased my entrance and I arched my back, needing more. “I can feel how much you want this. I know your kind—shy and withdrawn. Let me free you. Let me release the desire I know is inside you.” Oh, this guy had no idea just how much desire was inside me. I wrapped my legs tightly around his waist, drawing him toward me before I bit down on his neck.
“Fuck, yes,” Oliver growled, and with one deep thrust he was inside me.
I’d never been fucked this hard before. I was wanton. I needed everything the guy could give me as he slammed into me over and over again while I was pinned against the wall. “You feel so good,” he panted between thrusts.
“Fuck me harder!” I was totally breaking character, but I’d never had a man bring me to orgasm without my help before, and right now, I needed that moment more than the air I breathed.

“Harder? You better brace yourself then.” Oliver gripped my legs and rotated his hips before pushing deeper and faster inside me.

Before I could make sense of what was happening, I felt myself begin to build—the feeling becoming warmer and more intense with each of his movements. This guy was going to make me cum. Jade Phillips—top Seductor—was finally going to cum by the power of a man!

“Give it to me, Jade. Don’t you fucking dare deny yourself!” Oliver could feel my orgasm begin to take control, so he slid his fingers between us, circling my clit to help ease my release out.

When I did explode, it was earth shattering.

“Ugh…fuck…fuck…fuck,” I groaned, my entire body trembling.

Oliver continued to pound into me until he found his own release. “Fuck, yes, Jade…ugh…ugh…I knew you’d make me cum this hard!” Oh my God! He looked so hot when he climaxed.

I was still pinned against the wall, held up by his arms as we regulated our breathing.

“You see?” Oliver finally spoke. “I knew there was a wild girl in there somewhere.”

I am a Domestic Engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging, yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine) and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work all of this magic in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a Domestic Goddess (not really), I spent over a decade working in the medical field where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have had a love for the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn’t reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures. Finally, I have been putting a pen to paper allowing my characters to come to life.  When I don’t have a pen and paper in hand, you can often find me laughing at the conversations my characters are having in my head.

Walk Into Me book 2 of the Walking Series by Jill Prand @jprand #reveal

Expected date of release: December 2, 2013

I know I will never get over her. Watching her walk away with him ripped my heart out and left it bleeding on the floor. But I can’t hide anymore. I have to face my life without her.

Brad has been in love with Lisa for as long as he can remember. One night years ago they took each other’s virginity but while it was the best night of Brad’s life, for Lisa it was a way to forget about Bobby. Or was it?

Brad re-emerges right when Lisa needs him most. Only Brad knows everything about her and when Lisa’s insecurities come to the surface the shoulder Lisa needs is Brad’s. Now Brad has to decide if he has it in him to trust his heart.

I walk through the door into the crowded house, looks like the gangs all here and then some.  I look around and see all my friends but the person who sees me first is her mom, “Brad! So good to see you,” she hugs me, “Lisa will be so glad you’re here. She’s missed you.”

I don’t know what to say to that. I know that Lisa loves me like a brother but I want so much more with her, “I’ve missed her too.” It’s the truth, staying away has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I even took the boat over to Fire Island for a couple of weeks hiding out at my sister’s summer house. She was not happy about that until I started to fix the outside shower. Now she tells me I can use it anytime I want as long as I fix something each time I’m there. Her husband can’t fix shit, damn Ivy League pretty boy.

I turn back toward the party and suddenly Lisa is in my arms kissing my cheek and holding me tight, “Don’t do that again,” she tells me. “I missed you too much.” She is running her hands over my shoulders and through my hair and if I don’t get her off me soon she will know exactly how much I missed her.

I release her and put my hand in the pocket of my jacket, “Happy Birthday Lisa,” I pull out her gift and hand it to her. She smiles up at me but keeps her hand on my arm like she doesn’t want to let me go. Maybe she does feel more than friendship towards me.  I look into her eyes and hope she can’t see how much I want her.

She looks down at the box in her hand then back up to me, “Do you want me to open this now?”

I want to see her reaction but I don’t want an audience, “No later, after the party.”

“Does that mean you will stay ‘til everyone leaves?” her smile widens.

“If you want me to,” I can’t say no to her, I never could.

Then he comes up behind her pulling her back to him and extending his hand to me, “Brad, good to see you.”

I know he is staking his claim but he doesn’t have to remind me that Lisa is not mine. I have known that for a long time, “Bobby,” I can’t bring myself to say more than his name. I really want to yell at him to get his hands off of her but he has every right to touch her. She is his.

There’s still time to read book one of the series:

Embryo by J.A. Schneider @JoyceSchneider1 #review

WOW if you like thrillers and medical type suspense books, then this is for you. I was thrilled and consumed at the same time. The book starts with a main character that has guts, brains, and a keen sense for sniffing out trouble. I will admit I was scared to death with the first hospital admit. It is the kind of book that makes you think.

Usually we reflect on the ob office as a bad place. Who likes to go there? nobody I know. For Jill at this stage in her career she is experienced and knows something strange is going on. There is usually a happy feel in the delivery rooms, but not when there are chromosomal abnormalities. I know a lot about this, so there was a lot of research involved in  the book. For the reader it is shocking when sad things happen like this. Jill and David Levine are on opposites, he feels nothing is going on. Sometimes a girl has intuition that men just don’t get. Jill is persistent and that is why I loved her character.

wonderfully suspenseful book. I thought the details, research and scenarios were brilliant. All of the patients had interesting stories and of course the common thread being they were pregnant. There is a little romance added in to balance things out. Overall a read good book. Move on to part 2 with me!

J.A. (Joyce Anne) Schneider is a former staffer at Newsweek. Words and story ideas are always teeming in her head – “a colorful place!” she says. She’s a wife, mother of two adult children, and loves thrillers, medical thrillers, and mysteries. Once a Liberal Arts major (French and Spanish Literature), she has become increasingly fascinated with medicine and forensic science. Decades of being married to a physician who loves explaining medical concepts and reliving his experiences means that there’ll be medical angles even in “regular” thrillers that she writes.
EMBRYO is her first ebook. Its sequel, EMBRYO 2: CROSSHAIRS, was released in early April 2013. She and her husband live in southern Connecticut.
What created the idea for Embryo?
The idea came like a lightening bolt when hearing a conversation between J.A.’s husband (who did OB before switching to Cardiology), and an Ob/Gyn friend who was excited about IVF and its advances in curing diseases in utero. As an author who had already published fiction and non-fiction, J.A. thought about all human discoveries – from fire to atomic energy – and the fact that they can be either good or very bad if they fall into the wrong hands. It was a thought that wouldn’t let go. GOOD LUCK AND LOVE TO ALL!

“Maria Moran’s first inkling of trouble was the coppery taste in her mouth. It came suddenly, a rushing whoosh of something that made her gag, and when she reached to wipe her mouth, her hand came away smeared with blood.”

So begins this thriller about a young intern, Jill Raney, determined to investigate tragedies and terror at a famous fertility and genetic engineering hospital. When two pregnant women die and a fetus is delivered with severe chromosomal abnormalities, Jill’s superiors – including handsome, smitten-with-her resident David Levine – insist there’s no common link.

But her suspicions deepen with the grotesque murder near the hospital of another pregnant woman – her belly drained of amniotic fluid. And when a woman miscarries in the hospital and then disappears, Jill frantically searches for her – following a terrifying path that seems to link all the victims: Is someone playing with life…and the structures of human life itself?

An unforgettable tale of suspense with a shocking denouement, Embryo takes you deep into the mind of malignant genius.
