Can first loves really be forever?

Can first loves really be forever?

This is the second book in the series. If you have not read Waiting on the Sidelines, then I must say  STOP and please go read it. Don’t sell yourself out. It was such a fabulous read! I loved the way the author gave me love and romance without a bunch of graphic sex scenes. This is the kind of book I truly enjoy, if not only for the writing, but the love and family aspect. I totally fell for Nolan in book one. She was very independent and strong, without being overbearing. I liked how the author grew the characters to their college years. They matured together and made their education choices based on education and not each other. It killed me!

The best parts were the family units and the angst. For me I love the buildup and this one was done to perfection. There were hills to climb, struggles to face, and love to endure. It is also a book that will touch on broken friendships. Sometimes you think that things can be forgiven, forgotten, or you grow out of it and stop feeling anger. Both of the main characters were written being very resilient.

The fact that the author totally blew me away with book one and yet again I am amazed and thrilled she did it again. If you love stories that you finish and the characters stay with you, then grab this one. It is the kind of book that has a mass appeal. I mean it, seriously go buy it and enjoy!

Can first loves really be forever?

Nolan Lennox was strong, a survivor. She’d stood up to those who tore her down and found her purpose in life when she was at her lowest, her heart broken. And she was rewarded with the fairytale ending she’d always dreamed of. She spent four years loving Reed Johnson, the popular quarterback at her small town high school, earning his friendship first and, eventually, his heart. But fairytales are fiction, and life…well, real life is messy. Can Reed and Nolan’s love survive the growing pains that come along with truly growing up?

Reed and Nolan’s story continues in Going Long, the sequel to Waiting on the Sidelines. It will will be available for download on Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, Sony and Barnes & Noble in October 2013.

Waiting on the Sidelines by Ginger Scott @TheGingerScott **spotlight**

Nolan Lennox had things figured out. Named after a baseball legend, she enjoyed being the Tomboy, her closet filled with her brother’s hand-me-downs, cut-off jeans and soccer shorts. But when her first trip to high school results in a broken heart from the first boy to ever make her heart flutter and cruel words from an older girl she once thought a family friend, Nolan starts to question the very person she thought she was and wonders if her humble upbringing can compete with the afforded luxuries of her privileged peers.Throughout the next four years, Nolan struggles to maintain herself throughout her path of discovery, learning just how cruel teenagers can be through the pressures of underage drinking, sexuality and class. And despite how life seems to continue to work against her, she still manages to listen to her heart, falling deeper and deeper for the guy the entire town adores, even if he only sees her as a friend. Can Nolan strike a compromise between her own integrity and the boy she loves? And can she make him notice her before it’s too late?

Reed Johnson came to Coolidge High School with a lot of fanfare. The son of a hometown football legend and the brother of a local football hero, Reed wore all the pressures of carrying a town without hope into the spotlight. Thankfully, he had the talent to back it up. But when he meets a girl who makes him think twice about exactly what being a hero means, he starts to wonder if following in his brother’s footsteps might be all wrong.

Nolan Lennox was everything that was opposite of expected. She didn’t flirt, she didn’t drink and she didn’t sleep around. Nothing about her was easy, but something about her made Reed want to try harder. Though she didn’t look the part, she seemed to be spending a lot of time in Reed’s thoughts, and he wondered if she could be the one who made it all worthwhile. But could Reed handle letting her down? And would breaking her heart break him beyond repair?

Waiting on the Sidelines explores young love to its fullest, exposing how real young heartbreak and passion is and how important it is to discover yourself and hold onto your own identity. The story follows two young characters as they deal with mature situations, including the prevalence of bullying and promiscuity in today’s high school setting. Ultimately, Waiting on the Sidelines is a story of hope, honesty and those powerful, first true loves—the ones worth holding onto at any cost.

He’s the son of a rock god and grandson of a jazz legend. It’s no surprise that his own star is on the rise, and with so many groupies vying for his attention, his childhood best friend Rain keeps him anchored in reality.
She’s nothing like him–an art student with no idea of her own beauty, who would rather curl up with a sci-fi novel than party in the spotlight. Everything changes when she asks him for a unique favor: she wants him to take her virginity. He’s more than willing to oblige, but things get complicated when his pervy father gets involved. Meanwhile, intense feelings rise to the surface, ones neither Rain nor Jude are prepared to deal with.
If their relationship has any chance for survival, she must finally confront the demons of her past, and he must face the addictions of the present. When the smoke clears, will they find that sex between best friends was a good idea, or will they discover they had been Flirting With Chaos the entire time?

An intricate pattern of colorful tattoos decorated both of his arms. It was a mural of his life—stars that intertwined with musical notes; guitars interlocked into microphones; nude, big breasted angels riding hulky demons. Those arms and that face had adorned the covers of magazines for years. Now he represented a legend of rock history. To obtain his interview would mean lots of money and skilled maneuvering through his agent, publicist, bodyguards, entourage, and any of the other people that walled him away from society.

Kenya Wright always knew she would be famous since the ripe old age of six when she sang the Michael Jackson thriller song in her bathroom mirror. She has tried her hand at many things from enlisting in the Navy for six years as a Persian-Farsi linguist to being a nude model at an art university.
However, writing has been the only constant love in her life. Will she succeed? Of course. For she has been coined The Urban Fantasy Queen, the Super Iconic Writer of this Age, The Lyrical Genius of Our Generation. Granted, these are all terms coined by her, within the private walls of her bathroom as she still sings the Michael Jackson thriller song.
Kenya Wright currently resides in Miami with her three amazing, overactive children, a supportive, gorgeous husband, and three cool black cats that refuse to stop sleeping on Kenya’s head at night.

A second chance at life…
A second chance at love…
Jared Holt never thought he deserved either—until he found both in the arms of Aly Moore. Aly has loved Jared for as long as she can remember, and she’s more than ready for the future they’re making together. But Jared can’t help remembering his own family. And he’ll never forgive himself for what happened to them. How can he allow himself the very happiness he once destroyed? To live a life worthy of Aly, Jared knows he has to stop running and finally put his past to rest. But when he decides to face his demons head on, he encounters more than he bargained for: a dangerous mix of jealousy, lies, and dishonest intentions. When those intentions threaten Aly, Jared loses all control, giving into the rage that earned him his bad boy reputation years before. And he’ll fight to protect her no matter what it costs…even if he destroys himself in the process.

I gasped when strong. arms wrapped around me from behind. Then I melted when he buried his face in my neck. Jared spun me around and pressed me up against the cool metal of my car door. His hands were on my face, in my hair, slipping down my sides before he brought them back up to force me to look at him. “Thank you.” Desperation poured from him, his hold increasing as he stared down at the shock I felt lining my face. “Thank you for fucking believing in me, Aly. For getting me.”Fear lashed across his face. Or maybe it was remorse. He swallowed hard, his voice hardened with strain. “I’m scared to think of where I’d be right now without you.”That fear that had flashed on his face coiled in my stomach. Because I didn’t know where he’d been. Had no idea where the last three months had taken him. How far. How low.I wasn’t sure I wanted to know.

“You’re here with me now.” I had to believe that was all that mattered.

He grimaced. Gripping my face, he leaned down and kissed me, hard and demanding. There was no soft affection, none of the playfulness from upstairs. This was a seal. A branding. He jerked back. A storm raged in the blue of his eyes. “Don’t think I can’t see all those questions burning in your mind, Aly. And I may not have all the answers right now, but we are going to figure this out. Do you understand me? I promise you that.”

And I saw it all there, the torment that plagued Jared, this beautiful man who had lost his way, the one desperate to find his way home.

Working It by Kendall Ryan @KendallRyan1 #review

A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

ba227-reviewblogback

I am sure you read the synopsis and already know the main character, Emmy Clarke, from Tennessee is in New York. She gets a jobs working for Fiona Stone, modeling agent, bitch, and boss lady. I will say I loved that Emmy was a nice girl, had a real figure, and was NOT a virgin. Praise the Lord if I read one more book about a twenty something who was pure I would have screamed. Basically finding out that Fiona gets a new assistant every month, makes more sense. So the believable factor is there. Fiona is a typical business woman with little or no filter. She hurts Emmy and makes nasty comments, but that is her character.

653e9-whatilovedblogbacker2077229…was that Fiona was in the modeling business, so therefore she didn’t need a filter. The author was spot on! Anyone in that world is limited to time and says it, gets bold, and moves on without thinking. So I loved some of her comments about Emmy. She was sort of the woman you love to hate.

Enter Ben Shaw, Emmy’s first mistake. Fiona and her favorite communication mode, a sticky note, leads Emmy to call Ben into the office when she wasn’t supposed to. Here he is and she is smitten.

493f8-smilesheartbeating

Another LOVE, was the insiders view of how Ben was living. His diet, his image, and his life, all belonging to Fiona and his career. Being that his mom was a famous model, he was born into it. I loved the realistic ways of life that were stuck into the book.

The photographer clicked away, in obvious joy at getting to work with such a talent. “Chin up,” he directed. “Beautiful.” Click, click. “Relax your shoulders.” Click. “Stunning. Just like that.” Click, click.

I am going to put this one as a read it now book. Make me tell you about the steam now. OK it is steamy and it is the perfect blend of steam. Not too much, nothing crazy, just wonderful fluffy, sexy, steamy fun!

It’s A Shame by C.E. Hansen @CynthiaEHansen #review

If you have not read books one, stop and do so now. This one is a continuation so book one doesn’t leave with a cliff hanger. Trying to move on Grace and Cole deal with the aftermath. The author give you the conflicts. They get hate mail from people and on the other end of the spectrum they get sympathy. A very interesting side of the couple is brought  to light. They are very much in love and lust. There are a lot of pretty graphic scenes so I loved them. I enjoyed the sub character Michelle as Grace’s best friend  She overcomes a life threatening ordeal faster and becomes stronger. Between her and Grace I was loving their resiliency.

“When will this magic carpet ride stop? Where will we get off? I had a nagging worry this relationship had become too intense. It consumed me, consumed every waking moment”

Cole wants to get custody of his child Kyle and while that was not in Grace’s plans, I think she started thinking about a picket fence suburban life. When things are sexy and intimate for them it doesn’t really last long.

Grace is in the middle of another ordeal. Then she has no choice but to begin an inner conflict about Cole. She is thinking maybe he isn’t innocent  he has a temper when it comes to her. Did he take it too far? There is the ex Lauren Buckley, Mother of his child to consider. It is a page turner for sure. Michelle is attracted to Dean a detective who helped Grace. They are adorable together.

“Each day and night I spent with Cole I fell deeper and deeper in love with him.”

So along with trying to repair the relations with her Mom, Grace deals with her stepfather Franklin. I get the feeling she was indifferent since she lost her real father. Franklin however a judge, is the go to person when she is in need. It brings a new dynamic that Grace is not used to. She depends on herself and now Cole, so now she needs to depend on Franklin when Cole is in a bad situation.

There are a few parts that are laugh out loud funny. Michelle and Grace are acting like an episode of I Love Lucy when they venture to Brooklyn to try to solve a mystery. That part was hysterical to me.

It is a very erotic, fast paced suspense. I know my suspense and mystery lovers will agree it is a must read!
