Just finished in record time. I am sort of a speed reader and this book made it easy to devour it! First the topic is cancer, so if you are overly sensitive, beware. It is not a typical read either it is told with the center of the novel, Aundrea’s story. She is 21 and since she was 17 has been stricken with cancer. I cant imagine being seventeen and told you have cancer, not only that but stage four Hodgkin s. WOW it was one of those stories that I think had to be told. Her visions, feelings, and most importantly her reactions are different. Normally Four years ago she refused to give in.
I wont give away any of the plot, it is hard to brag about the author and characters without giving a little. I enjoyed Jean, one of Aundrea’s best friends. Mostly because she was genuine, caring, and never judged. She was not the kind of friend that would ask “How do you feel” it is a given, having cancer means I ain’t doing great. Jean talked, hung out with, and most importantly ignored cancer. They did clubs, drank shots and had fun! She was exactly the person who Aundrea can call, and she did, at two am.
Genna and Jason were Aundrea’s sister and brother in-law. They had their own unique ways. Aundrea’s parents literally gave everything they had for her. Lastly the character of Parker. He was a dream, a little dense, but a dream I liked how he didn’t have a clue something was up with her. He was the great escape. A character driven by true feelings and not sympathy feelings. Bryn, the girl at the vet clinic Jason owns, well I somewhat wanted her to slip and bust her ass.
Tragedy found her but surely didn’t drive her over the edge. It is a great story, with so much accuracy in medical terminology and treatments. I loved it for making me laugh, think and cry! Bravo for a great story and best of all the ending!! An emotional book that is so worth reading.
