Character Interview with Samantha Randall

Thanks for hosting me today. I’m so happy to be here with you.
It’s a special treat for me, too. 🙂 Tell us about your family.
Well, my father was a U.S. Army General, who advised the President. He passed away two years ago. I miss him, but I think he’s watching over me. My mother divorced my dad when I was ten and then married Russian Ambassador Dmitri Demas. For now, I live with them at the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C. My father’s best friend, Bear, is like my uncle. He’s big and burly, and tells it like it is. Having been around him for most of my life, I’ve picked up many of his bad habits.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a ballerina. I had an opportunity to audition for Julliard once, but my father’s funeral and a broken leg prevented it. Right now, I teach dance to grade schoolers at the local elementary. Someday, I’d like to own a dance studio.
What’s your favorite movie?
My dad loved John Wayne. Growing up, I watched all of his Westerns. I thinkBig Jake is my favorite.
What would we find under your bed?
Nothing. My mother’s a stickler for cleanliness. To avoid her wrath, I keep my room tidy. I don’t spend much time there though. I’m usually dancing in the embassy’s ballroom.
Do you have a favorite quote, quip, or saying?
Before he died, my father gave a famous speech at a military function. He said, “Some men think there’s a choice between right and wrong. Great men know there is none.” I’ve taken those simple yet powerful words to heart.
Do you have any pet peeves?
Oh yes, one big one. I’m disgusted when I see people flying torn and ratty American flags. I confront those culprits every chance I get. It’s a disgrace, and I think it disrespects all the men and women, who serve under it. My Uncle Bear would say, “That burns my butt.”

MEET THE AUTHOR
Christina Thompson, a retired acupuncturist, enjoys writing about the physical science, the emotional workings of our mind and heart, and the spiritual energy that taps into our passions.
Her degree in biology from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo gave her a love of science and a background into the physical realm of the body. Her diploma in Traditional Chinese acupuncture from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine taught her that the mind and spirit affect the body in powerful ways.
She teaches at the Reflexions Plus Holistic Center on many topics including massage therapy, acupuncture, Feng Shui as well as other modalities of Chinese medicine. She currently resides with her husband, Kraig, in West Michigan.
