They share a hot weekend in Seattle and discover that they want to share so much more.

Both Olivia and Owen are in need of help mending their hearts. What remains to be seen is if they can do that for each other, or if they are so damaged they go up in smoke.

excerpt Image5

As we round out the end of the tour, Olivia asks, “So where’s the pole?”

I stop in my tracks and turn, smirking at her. “The pole?” I grin. “You want to know where the pole is?” I look down at my tented crotch. “Well…umm…I’ve—”

“Not that pole!  Geez!  The one you slide down,” she laughs.

“Still the same thing.”

We fall into a fit of laughter, and Olivia lightly slaps my arm.

I take her hand and lead her to the other side of the truck.  “It’s over here, babe.”

We round the truck and there stands the pole. “Does anyone ever really use it?” she asks, removing the hair tie that holds her ponytail. She musses up her hair with her fingers, letting it fall naturally around her shoulders.

“Eh…sometimes.  We’re usually down here hanging out or checking equipment and stuff when there’s a call so, no, not as much as you’d think.”

Olivia lets go of my hand and walks toward the pole, running her hand down the cool brass.  She glances over her shoulder, giving me a sly smile.  I smile back, cross my arms, and lean against the truck, watching her.

She wraps her hands around the pole and leans back, swinging herself around.

“What are you doing, Olivia?”

“You know, I took one of those pole dancing classes at my gym,” Olivia tells me, wrapping a leg around the pole.

I slowly shake my head, smirking “Did you now.”  She’s playing with fire.

“I did.  It was fun. Really hard actually.  I learned all kinds of interesting moves.”  She swings herself around the pole again and lets her head fall farther back so her hair flows freely behind her.

As she twirls, I casually run a hand down the front of my pants and stroke my dick.  Olivia’s eyes follow my hand and we silently watch each other. She bites her lower lip and smirks at me.  Letting one hand on the pole go, Olivia uses it to rub her breast over her top and then runs it down her belly and lower.

“Owen, is there anyone down here right now?”

I stand slowly and look around the back of the truck before returning to my spot. “Looks like they’re all in the kitchen.  It’s just us. Why?”

Olivia spins herself around the pole and flips her hair again.  She pops open a button on her blouse and starts to slide down the pole, sticking out her ass provocatively as she moves back up it.  She’s killing me and she knows it.

It’s books like this make me wanna scream 5+stars unbeatable nothing better #teamAndre For starters this book shows a lesson in basic respectability. When Marcy sees the $100 bill on the floor of the casino her mind goes into overdrive. Off the bat she says she is a single Mom, has a loser ex husband, is basically living hand to mouth, and has the decency to remember her upbringing and tell the Texan cowboy he dropped it. When he tells her that he wishes it was the only thing he lost at the casino he tells her that this is a reward for being honest. She is floored because that is a lot of money for a casino worker. We learn that author creates Marcy as a good girl who lives by the rules.

Karma Quotes-3

That said she is thankful for the little she has and he daughter Katie. I love the way the author creates Marcy and then goes further to explain things about her and Vegas. So we know in Vegas it is not easy for a divorced Mom to find a cheaper place to live or even a room mate that doesnt have a drug problem, is a stripper, or a prostitute. All of this starts a SLOW moving chain of events in Marcy’s life. Just think to yourself how many times you heard “Your mother raised a great boy, girl, insert name here**” THAT is Marcy and she is seemingly fine with the bad hand she is dealt. She is thankful she had a great Mom and since cancer took her Marcy has tried to rebound. She is grateful for her child even though Trent (insert every bad name for a penis you can =here) is a loser in every way imaginable, he gave her Katie.

kar·ma
ˈkärmə/
noun
  1. (in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.

There is the next character that I LOVE and now I will explain Andre Chevalier. He is a dream, older, built, sophisticated man speaking with a French accent while inserting moi wherever he can. That alone just makes irresistible in every way. This man can charm your panties right off you before you are aware that they are falling down you leg. For this character I will use the word PERFECTION. Why? well he is a relationship and sexual counselor. Yes he knows a woman’s body and he teaches couples what is wrong with their sex life, love life, and shows them how to fix it. He does have another power aside from melting panties, he has the greatest intuition ever. He meets Marcy and his mind goes to his security expert and friend Mike Thompson. He thinks to himself, Mike and Marcy would be great. Then he thinks their names sound good together. He immediately decides to offer Marcy a job, this is the dream job she has always wanted so she is given a time and told to call by 9am and if not the job isnt hers. He doesnt really need her. He has a job but more one he has created for her. He seems in her a woman who needs a break. Andre wants Mike, his security team leader to interview and approve Marcy. Andre is so confident that Mike will be smitten with Marcy. I was too. That is the best part of this story!

sheryl_crow_420-420x0

NOW for Mike. He lost his wife before they were able to have a child to cancer. He is extremely focused on work. He is a great guy, great brother, uncle and most of all son. Another spoiler her- his mother is treated well. So you know if they treat their mother well they will do the same for a wife. hhmmmm Trent never saw his mother, she lived in Florida and he could care less. Tells a lot about his character.

bad boy words

I loved every single page of this book. I want to scream about the “lessons” that Andre teaches Marcy, but it MUST be read. If ever there was a book that has great lessons for both men and woman this is it. I want to say that one little choice by Marcy starts a slow moving chain of events that creates the BEST book for me this year. I want everyone to read it. It has the relationships, the lessons in sex, the steam, the love and most of all the KARMA.

The Point G. Nykanen @AuthorGNykanen #review

the point banner 10330374_475474055932338_7667650477527718148_n

OMG Im jumping up and down here. I hate typing a review on my kindle, but this was great and I gotta get as much of it down as I can, so its fresh. Just as I always do when reading something I check off

The plot= excellent

The characters= excellent

The story continuity= excellent

The story did it for me all over my little charts! To start with the characters, first up is Jake, I started to hate him when he was introduced. I know that’s bad but he pissed me off. I mean Nora, come on, she was amazing, and he was sort of cold. So when they are leaving for the summer she expected him to define their relationship. Instead he is cold and distant. That is the way the author got me from the first chapter. She very creatively has Jake running a thin line. You are not sure whether to love or hate him. Either way I was hooked.

So Nora leaves to go home to spend the summer with her now widowed Dad William. As for William, I want him as a Dad. So if he exists then I want him to adopt me.

So the summer begins with Nora licking her wounds. I loved her dad and his sporting good store and thought this was just what she needed. She meets up with Lucy and before you know it they are having fun and a few drinks.

Lucy+ BFF Lucy = YOLO austin powers

Nora meets Dane. OK he had me! He was tall, athletic, fabulously good looking and the cousin to Cooper whom Lucy had an instant attraction to. They go out and I had a WTF moment. He was having the strangest internal dialogue. Calling her (Nora) naive. I was thinking it too so I read on and then…Dane becomes the sexual predator. He strings Nora along in a horrible relationship. The author created the BEAST villian in Dane. He was so handsome and perfect on the outside. The inside was dark, dingy, sneaky, dirty and nasty all over!

Evil-thoughts-he-thinks-them-the-phantom-of-the-opera-35377201-671-510

The author creates some really really good characters with Nora, Lucy, William, Aunt Sara, Dane, Cooper and Jake. This was a thrilling book. SO Im screaming here to read it. Dont read it like I did camping at the beach, you will scare yourself senseless. There are so many twists and turns here that you will keep yourself on edge.

you-make-emotional-support-bunny-cry-b

I think the best part was the turning in the plot. For Dane it was like “OMG he is that good” that people dont see the slimy sexual deviant he is. If you love angst, romance and a side order of thrilling suspense then grab it!

G. Nykanen

G. Nykanen was born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This small, rural land mass seems to cultivate a wide variety of colorful characters who provide a plethora of inspiration. The Point, Nykanen’s first novel, is filled with nuances of these local characters and the landscapes one might find in the north woods.

Well traveled thanks to her husband’s government career, she has lived in Europe and many of our United States over the last twenty years. She has recently returned home, moving back to her beloved Upper Peninsula where she resides with her husband and three children.

With The Point now completed, she will continue working on her next novel, Accumulation, along with continuing to develop other stories in the works.

Unspoken Promises by Gabbie S. Duran @gabbiesduran #review @EJBookPromos

This was a great follow up to book one. It sort of picks up right where book one left off. If you have not read book 1 then I say READ it now! There are less dreams for Abigail concerning Matt’s sister. The problems between Matt and Abigail have yet to be solved. The author creates this high and low by adding obstacles for both characters. There is a time when I wanted to hate Abigail for something she does to Matt. There is also a time when I wanted to smack her but I have to remember she is still without her memory. As for Matt, well just as many instances I wanted to smack him. I remind myself that he is young and not nearly as worldly as she is. Aside from that he was very “active” let’s say, before he met and moved Abigail into his house.

There are still problems for this duo that must be resolved. I really want to get to her career. I know she is not physically ready to really work as she used to but I hope book 3 focuses on more of her future. I really see them together as a couple but there is always a but…Can Matt be faithful? There was so much drama for him in this book that I think maybe he has been cured of the wandering eyes.

I enjoyed the minor players in this book as well as Matt and Abigail. I liked how Kelly plays a role in the friendship area. I think Trey is the perfect friend to both Abigail and Matt. When he feels she is right he sides with her. When Trey feels like Matt has done wrong he sure tells him so.

The good base is there for the next chapter I cant wait!

Matt…

Emily always had a way of making me see the answer to my problems. While growing up, she was always there to lend an ear. Listening without judgment to every single word. I don’t know how many times I depended on her for an answer, and no matter how many times I asked, she always responded.

The day she died, it felt as if she took a part of my soul with her, and I had let her. She deserved it more than I did. It wasn’t until the day Abigail walked into my life that I knew that part of my soul had returned. It’s as if Emily was giving it back to me, knowing I desperately needed it.

Abigail was the light at the end of a darkened tunnel that I was trapped inside of. I had refused to keep walking forward when Emily died, but Abigail finally forced me to take the steps to awaken her. She helped me find the light within myself.

Dropping down to the ground, my knees hit the earth, sending a jolting pain up my legs. I stare down at the grave marker, realizing it’s the first time I’ve laid eyes on it. The elegance of the black marble represents the extravagant taste of her husband’s family. I had blown off their countless phone calls when they had contacted me to help choose the marker. I didn’t care. It would have made me face the reality that she was never coming back. The agonizing disbelief of seeing it brings tears to my eyes.

I sit there with the silence surrounding me as I allow the tears to fall and the agony takes over me. I miss her so fucking much. I keep wishing that she were still here with me. Just a phone call away like she was before. I’m selfish, I know, but I hate the fact that she’s no longer by my side when I want her to be.

After what seems like hours of sitting there crying alongside her, I somehow find the courage to speak. “I fucked up, Em,” I say crying at her grave. “And I don’t think she’s ever going to forgive me. You always told me that me fucking around was going to come back and bite me in the ass and you were right.” The words come out as a whisper as I continue to speak. “I can’t stand the thought of losing her, as I did you,” I cry down to her, expecting an answer, but all I receive is silence.

The Point G. Nykanen @AuthorGNykanen #Debut #Spotlight

Befuddled by her current relationship woes, Nora Reynolds leaves college at semester’s end to drive north of nowhere to her hometown of Iron Bay. Vulnerable and on the rebound, she is the perfect prey for fledgling felon Dane Buchman. Dane takes advantage of the unaware young woman, feeding his appetite for mischief until a rather violent shift in their relationship reveals to him what he’s really been craving. Driven by his new found hunger, Dane feels unstoppable, until former high school rival and town deputy, Doug Sanders, navigates the trail of Dane’s destruction.

The Point is a dark thriller that will allow you to witness a truly dangerous sociopath wander through madness guided by a treasured family heirloom, and a pensive young woman find her way after discovering, that which doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. With echoes of the Coen brothers’ Fargo, the folksy town of Iron Bay and the nearby north-woods community of Deer Lake are the destinations for Mr. Buchman’s many misdeeds.

I think the best part was the turning in the plot. For Dane it was like “OMG he is that good” that people dont see the slimy sexual deviant he is. If you love angst, romance and a side order of thrilling suspense then grab it!

Harp’s Voice (Harp’s Song #2) by Cassie Shine @CassShine #Review

1ee84-reviewimage1

The worst thing about getting an ARC is that you cant record your hi-lights through Amazon. Just my luck there are so many great quotes here too. Aside from that OMG How about that cover? I LOVE it. The girl is Harp to me and she is so clean and young it is perfection!

If you have not read Harps Song buy it here on Amazon. It is really necessary, in my opinion, although the author does a little back tracking to fill in the blanks. Why miss out on it? So the first book got to me. I was troubled by Annie, a mother, who hated her child. She abused Harp and it was very painful. Then the other shoes drop and you learn she was raped by her sister’s boyfriend. A heartbreaking vision of a 17 year old who is not believed  when she tells her parents she was raped. Eventually they come to an impasse and Harp begins repairing their relationship.

im in repair

In any book that approaches therapy in a positive way, such as this, I applaud the author. There is no shame in going to a therapist! Learning to effectively deal with your issues makes us all better people. Give it a try if you need help communicating, expressing or forgiving. If you have been abused or raped, it is a necessity. There is no way to heal without therapy.

be strong enough to stand alone

This follows Harp through her first year of college. Her relations with Connor, his mother Catherine and Annie really grow. Harp is a fantastic example of how resilient someone can be. I really want to say more, but unfortunately with the plot I cant.

it takes courage

There are also a few minor characters like Harmony (love the name) who is Harp’s room-mate in college. She knew Harp kept her at arm’s length and when Harp finally opens up, well Harmony needs her to find and repair her aura! Loved her. I liked, not loved, but liked cause I felt threatened by him, but Jayden was a TA in college with Harmony & Harp. Then there is Logan who is Harps cousin-brother. He was cool!

family drama the gift

This is a deep thought-provoking book so please grab book 1 and then this one. Bravo Cassie Shine you created a great group of characters and an even better story!
