TORN by Amber Lehman

TORN

Going out there and saying that this was one of my all time fave books. I was completely blown away! For the first time I actually wrote notes besides my kindle clippings. It was filled with so much emotion and angst.

Where can I start without writing too lengthily? Well The book opens with a girl Krista who moves from Ohio to Orange County California. She is starting High School and is 14. On the first day she meets Carrie who is the first girl she sees when she shows up at 0 period. I think this is a Cali thing cause my kids did it. She is in a dance class and sort of hits it off with Carrie right away. Within a few hours she meets Brandon who appears to be Carries bf and they are making out to Krista’s embarrassment. Well it was all for show they are just really good friends. She meets Brandon, surfer, Mr rich, hot, smart and popular 16 year old. Along with Brandon she meets Ryan, Nick and Aeleise who is his girlfriend.

As they all settle into high school and get to know each other Brandon emerges as a very strong character. He is sort of intuitive and reads people well. It turns out Brandon a few really big reveals. His secrets and identity as a gay teen in the public eye as a sponsored surfer. He keeps that private. Once they hang out things happen between Carrie and Krista that leave them both questioning life, love and sex. They are now not afraid to talk and experiment which leads them on a pretty dangerous path. Several times I held my breath! In comes Aeleise who is Daemon’s sister and happens to be a hot 28 year old who teaches a small group bible study.

Many twists and turns take them from bff to hating each other, then back to friends. It is filled with so much emotion and at times it is hard to read. That is what I loved about it! Also what Krista deals with when she questions Daemon’s feelings towards her. Is he attracted to her or not? Then her and Carrie question their bond. Then the BIG OMG moment is when Brandon questions his entire life.

I cant express how glad I was that I read it. I saw some reviews that made me curse like a truck driver. I applaud Amber Lehman and as a Cali girl, she was so accurate it hurt! This is REAL life people and I will say it is by far one of the best books I have EVER read. PLEASE PLEASE support the author and go read it now!! hurry

Torn by Amber Lehman

So into this book. While I love it more because it is “real” , but, I have gasped and held my hand over my mouth a few times over this past hour! So that says it is Really real!

“This book will keep me up tonight for sure. At this point I am so seriously crushing on Brandon and Daemeon. I think Josh still needs a bitch slap! I think this review is going to be painful for me. I feel like I know them.”

Bluestone Homecoming (Welcome to Bluestone #1) by M.J. Fredrick

Bluestone Homecoming

First let me say this was a pretty emotional read, but totally with a big reward! War correspondent Leo Ericson returns to his hometown of Bluestone Lake, Minnesota. He lost his wife and his parents have had his son Max for a few months. Poor Max is dealing with the loss of his home, Mother and Father being away. The beginning is tough because he knows that he needs to work and seeing Max for a little while and then going back to work will be tough. Into the story is Trinity Madison who is the counselor for Max at school. There are a few reveals about Leo and also about Trinity that were REALLY good.

Of course Leo falls for her and there is a lot of emotions. Overall a really great book. I think the tough part was being a Mom thinking what would I do if I knew a kid like that.

Torn by Amber Lehman

Torn

I’m starting this just because I saw the authors page and I added it to my Goodreads. I will say I saw some reviews that were so bad. I ache when people get ARC books and then totally slam them. If you agree to the ARC and take it for an honest review, then do it. Why take one that is by definition so out of your normal reads? I will say it again and again I wont read Twilight cause I hate fuckin vampires! I wont read a Sci-Fy cause I hated E.T. when I was like 15. So if you are out of your realm, never got drunk, never had sex (don’t matter gay or straight) and never been to Newport Beach then don’t read the book. I get so worked up over this because people who are NOTHING judge in the worst way. If they were all that, I guess they would have a PhD and be published. So if you have a snarky remark save it that is why Im writing on my own blog and not the ones I do guest reviews for.

Down to You by M. Leighton

Down to You

This is a pretty hard one to write about without talking the big reveal. So, as far as the story, characters, and plot, I loved it, all of it. I liked Olivia and certainly liked Cash. I was a little confused with Nash (Cash’s twin)because of the Marissa situation. For the plot, Olivia going to move in with her snobby rich cousin, I loved it. The fact that she had to live there and the cousin was a bitch with a capital B was good. Now if they would have sabotaged each other or maybe if Marissa started with Olivia in a tormenting way I could have hated her more. I wanted to hate her more. So when Olivia gets a job at Cash’s bar she encounters a real bitch and thinks Cash is hot and maybe involved with her. A few times in Cash’s POV he thinks should I help her, nah she looks hot pissed off I will let her be trained by the devils lil sister.

The things I liked sort of equaled what I didn’t. I didn’t like the 3 POV. It got me a little confused at times. But, the reveal and Olivia’s best friend Ginger made up for it. I loved her wise ass remarks and humor.

The ending and the reveal well WOW I am thrilled there is going to be a sequel too. I look forward to it.

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction… my every desire… mine.
My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful… except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession…
