Fighting Back by Kirsty Dallas #review @bookslapped @kirstydallas

I am going to say READ book 1 FIRST.  Once you have read book one and loved it like I did, then go to book 2. Rebecca was the florist and friend who was called on to look after Ella and give her a job. In this book, there is no time lapse.

Rebecca Donovan is great. Charlie, well he is hotter than a habanero and more likely to add spice to Rebecca’s life. So there is spice and then time goes on. Nothing between the two. She thinks he isnt interested, he thinks the same, and their

didn’t happen again. Rebecca is hilarious! She has a “Central Loving Station” and several plants that look like parts of the anatomy. Ya know what I mean. I don’t know what to say except she is so freakin awesome I want her as a friend.

There is a HUGE happening with her sister and it calls for the big guns. OH my the men come out and seize the moment. Charlie is awesome and he is the “one” who can heal Rebecca. The reason why I loved the richness of characters is really the authors ability to throw you into the circumstances that got Rebecca to need Charlie. It is a sordid tale involving half the town. It has an amazing plot.

Rebecca is unhinged in a bad way and goes blah, drab, old mom sweat pants.

A little talk, love, and coaching from Charlie and it is done

The dynamic Ella and Jax are here and their story is probably as good. I am a fan of gritty, real, and raw types of novels and this one gets an A+ in all of the above. There is some explicit scenes in there too. WOW

It lacks nothing. A true must read.

I’m just a little Aussie girl with a big imagination, so much to write and so little time to do it. When I’m not writing (or reading) I am kept smiling and sane (for the most part) by my 5 year old daughter. She is the light in my world. I have a wonderfully supportive family who keep me completely grounded. Trust me, they will never let any success go to my head!! And I love them for it. I enjoy ice cold ciders, barbeques, music and art. I hate cooking, in fact I think I have major kitchen allergies. My feet rarely grace anything other than flip-flops and even in the middle of a hot Aussie summer, I love my jeans!!! To sum me up in a few words (and you know how hard just a few words is for an author) ~ easy going, laid back, dreamy and passionate.

I hope you all love reading my novels as much as I love writing them.

Excerpt:

“I’m fine!” I pushed harder on the gas. “They can’t be that far ahead of us.” I just hoped we were headed in the right direction.

We drove another twenty minutes north as I moved off the dirt road and onto grass. I glanced back at Rane. “Do you think Craynor could have found a place in Haven to keep Joshua?”

“I don’t know. Not much was left. There could have been a cellar or basement abandoned that didn’t get struck. That’s how I survived,” Rane admitted.

It at least gave me hope. As we drove north, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. Cresting a hill, I slammed the brakes as we jolted to an abrupt halt.

“What the hell?” Gavin’s voice echoed as the seatbelt restrained him and his arm shot up on the dashboard to steady himself. A few feet away, I saw outlaws with weapons pointed in our direction. “Hurry up!” His voice threatened in my ear as I slammed on the gas, but our car wasn’t going anywhere: the tires had blown from spikes in the road.

Locking the doors hadn’t helped. They busted the car window and flipped the lock, opening the door, dragging all three of us out.

Saving Ella by Kirsty Dallas #review @bookslapped @kirstydallas

“Your scars might remind you of where you’ve been angel, but they don’t have to dictate where you’re going.” ~ Jaxon Carter

The protection every child is owed was lost on Ella Munroe. Her tiny body was beaten, bruised, cut and bloodied. And the thing about pain, it demands to be felt……. While I absolutely love the realistic way the book is written, I know it isn’t for everyone. It is one of the books that I loved and I WANT everyone else to love it too. Ella was so tormented, it was sometimes hard to read parts of the book. That is the first sign that the author did a wonderful job, making it that real!

The journey of this young girls life was very well put together, the plot was strong as well as the lead. The supporting cast lends just the right amount of love and tough love. The owner of the shelter where Ella winds up is Mercy, hence the name. I liked her because she was the epitome of a strong tough business woman. Who can run a woman’s shelter and not be tough?

Ella meets Jax at the shelter, unsure, scared and lonely, he notices her need right away, but recognizes the pain too. Ella doesn’t know affection and when faced with some budding friendships, she doesn’t know what to do. She never had a friend, confidant, or lover.

This is going to be an amazing series. Since I read Breeze of Life, I liked the author and her style. Although this is not the same type of novel, it shares a lot of the boldness. I applaud her for the realistic way she portrays Ella.

Please Note – this book contains some violence, language that some may find offensive and sexual situations.

“Tonight I saw the entire truth in his eyes, the panic, the fear, the pain, the desire, and the love. He didn’t care if I was too thin, or not thin enough. He didn’t see my scars as ugly, he didn’t want my face
hidden behind layers of makeup. Jax wanted me as I was, broken, flawed and honest. And never before had I been so utterly consumed and owned as I was by Jax.”

No Turning Back (Full Circle #1 by Casey Peeler @AuthorCasey #review @wrnmk_

Why not start on what I really liked. I am a Brooklyn born blogger, so in other words, I know nothing about country music or talk. I loved the southern innuendo and phrases! The music and mentions of the ringtones were equally appealing. Charley was in a long term typical teen relationship with the all around seemingly perfect Dylan. OK so he is a little bit of a bad boy, but she is happy and still “pure”. There is a party and sadly Dylan does the unspeakable. Along comes long time friend Cash to clean up. I won’t give any spoilers, but Charley handles things HER way, so for that I admire the author. I think she took an unorthodox way of handling something and wrote it out.

3c68a-youcanhave

This is where there is a little disconnect. I think Cash should have been brought up or mentioned before this tragic incident. It seems like he is brought in without any prior mentions and he could have been a big rival for Charely’s heart. They have known each other since they were 4 years old. So after this incident, Charley lags and finally makes a college choice.  So in rush mode putting the past where it belongs, she leaves Grassy Pond. Seriously how cute is the name Grassy Pond? I loved it.

At Southern College, she really comes into her own. It is amazing how she bounced back and accepts some friends. Of course it doesnt last when Cash walks back into her life.

 smiles angel

It is SO worth the trip to Southern and Grassy Pond! I say it may not be perfect, but I really enjoyed it! I thought Charley dealt with her issues in her own way and for that the author deserves a pat on the back. Not everyone crawls into a hole or goes wild. Charley did it her way!

How will her first semester of college end? Seriously read it

Melissa Bennette, a young beautiful woman who has tragically lost her parents in a devastating plane crash, is set to spend another Christmas holiday alone until one night as she gazes into the dressed up holiday windows of New York City and her path crosses with the gorgeous man of her dreams.

Evan Duke is the world’s top male model, dreamed about and wanted by women everywhere, but he only has eyes for her.

This erotic tale of twists, turns and surprises stretches from twinkling lights of New York to the sun drenched beaches of Santa Monica to the art world of Paris. With each destination, the layers of their lives and closely held secrets fall away as a beautiful love grows out of the weeds of self doubt and heartbreak.

This book contains sexually explicit material and is intended for adult readers only.

“Art is an experience that transcends all cultural boundaries… it makes us feel!” Fifi Flowers
Fifi Flowers is an internationally known artist who paints her daydream city of Paris, adding her special flair of whimsy and fun to the iconic images of Paris. Beautiful things that surround her daily life are what inspire her to paint. Setting a mood… playing with colour… experimenting with patterns and textures… painting on canvas or archival paper.
Fifi has taken her love of Paris and romance to the pages of her first novel, A Window To Love, due out on August 11th, 2013.
