But when evil invades Asgard, her perfect world comes crashing down. Someone is planning to kill off the gods, and Inga’s best friend Ull is first on their list. With the Norse apocalypse a nanosecond away, Inga has to decide how she’ll spend her final moments of freedom. Author Interview with Julie Shelton @BTShowcase

Julie has always loved stories, both reading and writing them, ever since she was old enough to hold a book in her hands. One of her favorite childhood activities was smuggling books under the covers to read by flashlight after she was supposed to be asleep.

A career as a children’s librarian eventually led to her dream career as a freelance storyteller and puppeteer, a business she operated successfully for twenty-five years. During that time she created and wrote all the original material for a monthly language arts newsletter full of poems, songs, puppet and flannel-board stories, fingerplays, and other resource material for early childhood educators. For that endeavor she won the prestigious EDPRESS Award for the best educational newsletter of 1982. She has also written other resource materials for preschool and early elementary teachers.
After moving more than two dozen times in her life, Julie lives in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Now widowed and retired, she once again has time to devote to her two favorite things—reading and writing—especially her new love, erotic romances.
BTS: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Julie: I am a former children’s librarian, professional storyteller, and puppeteer.  I write like a much younger person than I actually am.  I love ballet, most kinds of music, making jewelry, traveling, reading, writing, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
BTS: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Julie: Since I was old enough to read.
BTS: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Julie: My current work is Owning Sarah, the sequel to my first book, Loving Sarah.  It is a continued exploration of Sarah, Jesse, and Adam’s deepening love for and commitment to each other.  It also has the three of them facing an old enemy who will stop at nothing to destroy all their lives.  Like its predecessor, Owning Sarah is a Siren M/f/M Menage, with a little M/M/f discovery going on.  Both have a Heat Rating of Sextreme.
BTS: Describe your Hero(s) in one word
Julie: Dominants
BTS: Describe your Heroine in one word?
Julie: Strong-willed
BTS: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Julie: Just the general, day-to-day slog—getting my butt in the seat and putting words into the computer.  Fortunately, Jill, my critique partner, was a tremendous help, making suggestions, giving me ideas, answering my questions.  Thanks to her constant nagging (lol), I actually finished a few days before the deadline I had set for myself.
BTS: Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?
Julie: To tell the truth, the challenge wasn’t in getting it PUBLISHED.  Siren was the first publisher I sent it to and they accepted it right away.  The challenge came afterward—promoting, publicizing, marketing, and advertising it.  The only things I knew how to do on a computer were typing the words in the word processor, and sending and receiving emails.  When I realized all the stuff I would have to learn in order to sell my book, I was completely overwhelmed.
BTS: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Julie: Write every day, even if it’s only a few sentences.  And learn as much about the social media and how to use them to your advantage as you possibly can. You’re going to need it.
BTS: Do you ever experience writer’s block?
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gifJulie: All the time.  When I find myself stumped or just totally uninspired, I go back and re-read or edit scenes I’ve already written, trying to recapture the muse.  Or I work on something else for a while.  My “something else” at the moment is an historical erotic romance set in the Middle Ages.  I’m hoping to be able to submit it by the end of September.
BTS: What supernatural character would you rather date Thor (Chris Hemsworth) or Superman (Henry Cavill)
Julie: Although they’re both wa-a-a-ay too young (lol), I think I’ll have to go with Thor.  A Norse god—now there’s a hero for ya.https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif
It’s been a month since Sarah Marshall was kidnapped and held at knife-point by her ex-fiance.  But Jesse Colter and Adam Sinclair, her two loving Doms, know that there is an even deadlier threat still out there—Ryder Malone.
He blames both Sarah and Jesse for sending him to prison eight years ago for attempted rape, and he’s determined to make them pay.  So, he begins a systematic campaign of terror and intimidation against them.  But the danger he poses doesn’t end there.
Set against the deepening love and commitment between Sarah, Jesse, and Adam, Owning Sarah is more than just a sexy, sensual, BDSM love story.  It is a harrowing race against time for Jesse, Adam, and a team of former SEALs to stop one of the biggest arms-for-drugs deals in U.S. history.  And to rescue Sarah before Malone sells her to a human trafficker and she’s lost to her men forever.

An Excerpt from Owning Sarah

As soon as Sarah finished greeting the last man, Jesse moved in behind her, pulling her against his body, her back to his front. He ran his hands up her arms before settling them on her shoulders. At that blatant gesture of possession, all conversation died and six pairs of eyes bored into her. Wow. She was surrounded by eight strong, powerful, confident men. Men who had survived harsh, primitive conditions. Men who had experienced the brutality of combat and undertaken untold numbers of dangerous missions, all to keep America free. Men whose exploits would never be recognized or acknowledged, who were heroes in the truest sense of the word.
Men who gave new meaning to the term sexy, even if they weren’t particularly handsome. There was nothing handsome about Bulldog, for instance. Yet….wow. The sinuous, animalistic grace of his movements, the air of command he exuded were both undeniably sexy. To a man, these Spec Ops soldiers were tanned, fit, confident, powerful…masculine. These men were potent. The testosterone they exuded was so strong it was almost palpable, a living, breathing thing.
Wow.
Nearly overcome by a sudden bout of near-crippling shyness, Sarah stiffened her spine and gave them what she hoped was a confident smile. “It’s lovely to meet you, and I hope you all can stay for dinner, although I’m not sure what we’ll have. We’ve been eating so much take-out lately, there’s nothing in the refrigerator but a bunch of science experiments on the properties of mold.”
“And beer,” Adam piped up. “There’s always plenty of that.”
“Right,” Sarah agreed tongue-in-cheek. “Science experiments on the properties of yeast.” Her smile faded. “Like I said, you’re all invited to stay for dinner. But why do I get the feeling that this is not a social call? You’re not here for dinner, are you? You’re here because of Ryder Malone.”
“I see we’ve come to the question and answer portion of the evening,” Jesse murmured, squeezing her shoulders gently before dropping a kiss on the top of her head.
“Speaking of beer,” Adam interjected brightly, turning on his heel and moving toward the kitchen, “who wants one?” Everyone except Sarah and Jesse followed him out there. Turning her to face him, he let go of her arms and lifted his right hand to tuck an errant, mink-brown curl behind her ear.
She tilted her chin to look up at him. “This is about a hell of a lot more than just vandalizing my bedroom, isn’t it? What’s going on, Jesse?”
His fingers stilled, warm against her skin, sending a shiver through her. Aware of the undisguised interest on the parts of the men filtering back into the room, beer bottles in hand, they struggled to fight the sudden heat blazing between them. “Don’t worry about dinner, baby,” Jesse said in an effort to divert her attention, “It’s all taken care of. I’ve ordered a Pig-Out Feast for Twelve from Porky’s Bar-B-Q.”
“But,” she spread her hand in confusion, “there’s only nine of us.”
He just chuckled. “Obviously you haven’t seen these guys eat. Anyway, they’ll be deliverin’ it in around”—he glanced at his watch—“half an hour or so, so be on the look-out while we finish up—”
“Finish up what?” she interrupted quietly, refusing to be diverted. “Answer my questions, Jesse, and stop trying to protect me from the big, bad world out there. I knowwhat’s out there, remember? I see it every day in court. So, why are they here? What could Ryder Malone possibly have done to merit a response like this? An entire SEAL team? Really? Don’t you think that’s just a little bit over the top? Like sending a Cruise missile to take down a gnat?”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, they’re no longer SEALs,” he offered lamely, lifting one shoulder in a slight shrug.
“Oh, well, that’s certainly a relief.”
“Sarah—“”
“Who are they, Jesse? Aside from the biggest, scariest, meanest-looking, bad-ass, uber-macho bunch of guys I’ve ever laid eyes on? Some sort of clandestine, super-covert, black-ops commando group that’s so Top-Secret not even the President knows about them?”
Everyone froze. Seven pairs of eyes were suddenly riveted on her. Her mouth dropped open as realization sank in.
“Oh. My. God!”
Her entire body solidified.
“Holy shit,” Bill Payton muttered, his beer bottle halted in mid-air, halfway to his mouth.
“Told you she was smart,” Jesse muttered back.
Sarah just stared up at him, dumbfounded.
Oh.
My.
God!
Omigod!
“Jesse—”
“It’s okay, baby.”
“It’s okay? It’s okay?” Seized with a sudden need to shiver, she crossed her arms over her breasts. “How can this possibly be okay? What, exactly, makes this okay?”
“Well, for one thing, I’m pretty sure the President knows about us,” Jay offered helpfully, patting her shoulder as he passed her on his way to the couch.
“Looks like she’ll be coming to the meeting.” Adam joined them, grinning, holding out a frosty bottle of beer. She just stared at it pointedly until, shrugging, he withdrew it.
“What meeting?” she wanted to know.
“The meetin’ that’s startin’ right now,” Jesse said grimly, grabbing her by the elbow and steering her unresistingly toward the sofas and chairs gathered around the stone fireplace.
“C’mon, sweet pea.” Adam latched onto her other elbow and they led her to one end of a brown leather sofa where they sat with her tucked snugly between them. The other six men spread out on the other sofa across from them, the oversized ottoman, and in the two club chairs.
Jesse turned his attention to Bill Payton. “Okay, Wildfire, it’s your show,” Jesse said before relaxing back against the cushions himself. Conversation died as they all turned their attention to Bill “Wildfire” Payton, who cleared his throat, and looked directly at Sarah. “Sorry to bring this to your doorstep, Sarah. But it appears that your boy Malone is one seriously bad dude.”

Damaged Girls 2 by Janice Ross @JGRWriter #review

Damaged Girls II

Get excited, cry, curse, hate, love, and despise! If you’ve already read Damaged Girls I, then these emotions should be familiar. The Damaged Girls Family & Relationship Series began with an introduction to the complex love triangle of Steven Briggs, Jillian McConnell and Jessica Rodney.

So if you didnt read book 1 stop, read and come back! In the second book of the series, Damaged Girls II, I was thrown into Stevie and his sick twisted relationships. Being both girls have kids Steven and Stevie it was easy to see that is where the similarities end. Once again the author takes you deep into Stevie’s friend and their bold opinions. I loved how Morgan would give him hell. She was so immune to his charm and look that it was troubling to him. There were times when I envisioned him trying to get over on her. Not my Morgan she let him have it.

As each girl grows and matures, Stevie is ever so present. It tells a sordid take of his powers over these two girls. The things he does and says will cause rage for sure.

Jessica’s character at times really broke me. The author had me almost yelling at her to grow up. What I realized was that Stevie was so much like the younger version of her Dad that is when the “ding ding ding” happens for me. She will change in a bad way.

As for the Jillian character, she has so much turmoil thrown her way. I think she was my favorite. She is smart, stern and a great Mother. I mean who would take in the kid that belongs to your lover? Yes Jillian did. Her nurturing was important to Jessica. The fact that she cared for her son and his half brother the way she did only made me love her more.

As with book 1 the author wows you with a drama filled novel. It is one that you must read. The Jillian segments were, in my opinion, the best of the book. Now book 3 Will they learn from their mistakes? Will Jillian or Jessica move on? Will Stevie get his ass kicked? Darn it I want Morgan with a boxing glove pronto.

This summer, I’d planned to celebrate my eighteenth birthday in Europe with my fellow Manhattanites—Taddy Brill, Blake Morgan, and Vive Farnworth—until I caught my boyfriend screwing my mother. Officer Ford Gotti, the Harley-wheelin’ biker cop who arrested us, keeps sticking his perfectly-sculpted nose into my case. His inked body is jacked like a superhero, and he says I can trust him. Excerpt from Chapter Seven: The Ride of My Life

*the set up: Lex and Ford go for a ride on his motorcycle

The bike rolled into the garage and stopped. Ford pushed a button, and the garage lights came on as the door closed. Kicking the stand, he got to his feet and cut the engine.

Mindful of where I sat, he lifted his leg and got off the bike. When he removed his helmet, I noticed his eyes weren’t as dark as before. They had hints of hazel in them. His brow furrowed into a straight line when he caught me staring at him.

Quickly, I looked down at the bike and reached up to take my helmet off.

“Allow me.” His big hands came under my chin. He tilted my jaw upward. “Such a beautiful face, Lex. I like looking at you.”

“Thank you…”

I’d heard the “pretty face but” backhanded compliment my entire life. I waited for him to say, “But your body could use some work.” Or my personal favorite, “It’s a shame you forgot to take care of the rest of you.”

Ford didn’t say anything of the sort. He studied me just as he did back in the jail, from head to toe. I’m so uncomfortable. Not because of anything he’s doing, but because usually that is when men, and sometimes women, stop looking at me all together.

He unfastened my chinstrap and teased, “Let’s see if your hair has static.”

Trying to stand, I laughed nervously.

“Stay seated.” He removed my helmet and placed both his and mine behind me. He swung my right leg to the left side of the bike, framing my body with his. He cupped my face in his hands.

Hot cop fantasy? Heck no. This was real. He was going to…

Ford licked his bottom lip. His facial features strained, becoming serious. The tip of his nose touched mine. I smelled mint when he exhaled. “No roommate. Yup, I live alone.” Then he kissed me.

My head fell back into his grip.

With determination, he tongued me, deeply, clockwise, oh yes even his flippin’ tongue was strong and precise, just like the way he weaved his bike through traffic.

Enthusiastically he unbuttoned the straps on my overalls and then without even looking, still lip-to-lip, he worked the closure on the left side then the right.  The denim flaps fell to the front and the back.

“Stand for a sec.” Ford lifted me up in the air as if I were a weightless feather. He planted both my feet on the ground, and then he shanked the overalls to my ankles.

“Ford—” Before I could finish whatever I was going to say, he lifted up my shirt and swiftly placed me back on the motorcycle. Worried I’d fall, I dug my back into the seat, reached for each handlebar, pulling myself up as I gasped and garbled some words.

He slid his fingers through the purple waistband on my underwear.

My entire body stood to attention.

“I want you naked so I can admire your body, and fuck you, on my bike.”

Air, I needed to breath. Afraid I might pass out, I inhaled through my nostrils and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. “Umm, Ford,” I whispered when he came in to kiss me again.

What the heck was I going to say? “Excuse me, but as hawt as this whole bike thing sounds, my Lady V and I would be more comfortable on a bed, sofa, or even the floor.” I felt as if I might knock the bike over any second now.

“Nervous?” Ford sensed my apprehension.

“Very,” I replied without thinking.

“I told you not to be.” He repositioned himself holding my legs over his right shoulder.

The panties came off. Then he lifted one leg and rested it on his other shoulder. Leaning down, his hands scooped under my back and unfastened my bra. No directions necessary. This dude could do this undressing thing, in the dark.

“But Ford, ya see, I’m—”

That tongue of magic. Thick and velvety, warm and wetter than the spot between my legs, Ford slipped back into my mouth. This time he rotated counterclockwise.

Dang. Ford is an Olympic kisser. For round two, I braced myself in his arms.

Legs spread wide, my ass still sat on the bike.

Totaled.

Totaled is a full length, new adult contemporary romance novel.
Due to mature content, profane language, and sexual situations, this book is recommended for ages 18 and up.

I am a mother to a beautiful five year old daughter and a wife to my best friend. Being a labor and delivery nurse three nights a week pays the bills but I have recently decided to take my hobby of writing to the next level.  Living in Florida StaceyGricePicturewhere I was born and raised allows me to hear the waves and stick my toes in the sand whenever I want, which is vital to my emotional well-being. Completely and absolutely obsessed with good music, the lifeline to my creativity, I cannot and will not write without it. Some things that I appreciate are honesty but not cruelty, an unapologetic sense of humor, being able to make any situation fun, often dancing like no one is watching, and a good cup of coffee with enough creamer to make it blonde.
Being an astute people watcher with a judgmental mind gives me constant inspiration for my stories. My characters, like many authors, are conceived from a hodgepodge of actual people in my life, unique personality traits, real world encounters, and conversations that I have directly taken part in. Totaled is my debut novel with many more to come.

My heart raced, my palms grew sweaty, my skin felt flushed, and my breathing sped up. I let my tongue graze over my lips to wet them, and apparently that was invitation enough. His eyes immediately dropped to my mouth. Drew started to slowly lean in towards me, closing the distance between us, never releasing my face from his hold. Everything moved in slow motion and I knew this was the moment of our first kiss.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the sky opened up and it started raining. Not raining, pouring! Everyone around us (who I’d been unaware of for the last hour) scattered like ants and we stood to run for cover with the rest of the crowd. People were frantic and crazy, squealing and sprinting for cover, bumping into us left and right. Drew grabbed my hand and pulled me with him, jogging away from the chaos in the rain. We were running in the street along the inter-coastal, in the direction of the gym a few blocks away. Already drenched, we laughed at each other, stepping in puddles and pulling each other back and forth to dodge others in our path. It felt like we were children, being playful and having fun with it, because what else could you do
at that point?

When the rain picked up, we were still a good four blocks from the gym. Drew suddenly stopped jogging in front of me and turned around to face me, a look of intensity and determination in his expression. I almost couldn’t stop in time and nearly crashed into his chest. He grabbed my face with both of his strong, masculine hands and looked at me like I was a giant piece of chocolate cake and he was starving. For two seconds he stared at me. Four seconds. Six seconds. All the while standing in the middle of the street in the pouring rain. And then his lips crashed into mine. His lips were firm at first but immediately softened. He licked my lower lip, tasting me, enticing me to open for him and I couldn’t dream of doing anything in that moment but exactly whatever he wanted me to do. I opened my lips slowly to invite him in and our tongues touched each other, playfully at first and then with purpose. They danced together in perfect synchronized harmony like a beautiful Viennese waltz. The waltz turned into an angry paso doble, full of passion and angst. His kissed me with urgency, like he couldn’t get enough, but not with haste. He was savoring me, cherishing me. My hair stuck to my face, slick with wetness from the rain, my dress clinging to my body, soaked all the way to my underwear, but I didn’t want to move. Our hands were everywhere, grabbing each other anywhere, everywhere. He held my face with one hand and reached around to the small of my back to pull me in closer to him. The substantial, hard bulge between us confirmed how much I was affecting him. I felt my core twitch and throb with a need that I’d never felt before. My romance novels were finally right about something—this aching and throbbing stuff was legit. I didn’t want to stop feeling it. I didn’t ever want to stop.

Our mouths separated and I tried to take a deep breath, but he moved his mouth down to my throat and neck, kissing and licking, lapping up the raindrops from my skin, and I couldn’t possibly catch my breath with him doing that. I suddenly realized where we were still outside, still in the wide open, still in the rain. He must’ve felt me stiffen, because he brought his eyes up to mine and smiled.

“Let’s get you out of the rain,” he said, and we started jogging towards the gym again.

Damaged Girls I

Book Review

Be warned… Romance is not at the heart of Damaged Girls. This series revolves around contemporary issues in families and relationships.
I have been captivated with the encouragement that this author gives to women, readers and other authors. I loved this book! It is one that you can judge by the cover, it is a phenomenal cover!

The main character is Steven Briggs, aka Stevie. He is a piece of work. He likes woman, does not want to commit, is used to getting what he wants, and he usually does. When he sets his sights on the young Jessica I was hoping that her youth and innocence would have a greater effect on him. Her youth did nothing but fill the void for a young partner. There is a great attraction between these two. I was rooting for them just simply how Stevie waited until Jessica was legal to actually pursue her. I thought it was a noble gesture. Well ok for a while I did.

The other character I loved was Jillian. Jillian was once the youth interest and is now a little older. Jillian is a lot stronger than Jessica and can resist Stevie a little better. She was somewhat stronger, had a career, and she didnt jump to Stevie’s commands.

The entire book is a revolving circle with family as the main theme. The Rodney family is messed up. The story there stems from Mr Rodney essentially acting a lot like the man he hates, Stevie. All of these lives intersect with tons of drama. There is a small lesson inside the pages here too. It seemed the karma queen has a lot of payback here. I thoroughly enjoyed the language, the authors characters and the richness of the story. At times I hurt for Jillian and at times I hurt for Jessica. This will be a must read series! Moving onto book 2

Damaged Girls I

Book Description Book 1

Be warned… Romance is not at the heart of Damaged Girls. This series revolves around contemporary issues in families and relationships. Steven Briggs is thirty-five, gorgeous and partially successful as an auto shop owner-wannabe. He loves women – young women to be exact. Moreover, he is not above manipulating any situation to have the women he wants. Independent twenty year old Jillian McConnell was once lucky to be a part of his world. Since Stevie was the only man to ever shatter her rough exterior, he knows that she would always keep coming back for more. But Jillian is only good enough some of the time. When the sensual Jessica Rodney comes of age, Stevie is enthralled. He shuns the older part time model, for the time being. But is Jessica’s liveliness enough to sustain Stevie? Or will he keep turning back to the sensible relationship of his past, since he can always make Jillian believe that she should readily be a willing participant in this triangle. Damaged Girls is a complicated novel about the choices and outcomes, associated with the mistakes we make over time.

Excerpt:
“I heard you were back.” I groaned internally as Mario spoke from behind me in the laundry room a little later. “Did Miss S put you on lockdown again?” he mocked.
“You’re not funny, Mario.” I didn’t even look up at him as I continued to fold my clothes.
“I really thought I’d break you while you were cooped up in here. I was hoping you’d take your frustration out on me.” By the level of his voice, I could tell that he was right behind me. I turned around quickly, pushing his chest before he laid a finger on me.
“How many times do I have to tell you, this isn’t a game? I’m not fucking interested!” I seethed, barging past him. Mario grabbed my waist, trying to pull me toward him.
“Another few weeks and I would have had you. You wouldn’t be a Seductor if you weren’t addicted to sex like me. You’re only holding back because you don’t want to get attached. We’d be good together and you know it. I could give that sweet pussy of yours a real good beating if you just let go.” I lost it, slamming the heel of my shoe hard into his foot. Me get attached to Mario’s cock? I was wrong—this guy was hilarious.  “Oww…you fucking bitch!” he yelled, hopping around while clutching his injured foot. I didn’t even try to hide my snigger as I walked past him. You deserved that, Mario!
I was still chuckling to myself when I bumped into Molly in the hallway.
“Sonia is ready to see you now.” She had a worried look on her face.
“What’s wrong?”
“Alicia came to get you.”
“She’s back? I thought she wasn’t due back for a progress report for another few weeks.” My mind was racing. Why the hell would Alicia come to get me? It didn’t make any sense; Sonia knew I hated her.
“Sonia wanted her back early. I’m not sure things are going too well with the mission.” Molly followed me back to my room. “What if your theory is right and Alicia has been with Oliver these last few months?” I dumped my clean
clothes on my bed, trying to compose myself. I was making Molly paranoid now, and that wasn’t good.
“Why would Oliver become a target again? It doesn’t make any sense. You and Georgie have been telling me that for months.”
“I don’t know, but it all seems a little strange to me.”
“You’re really not helping. You’re supposed to say that I’ve gone crazy. Do you know how ridiculous this all sounds?” I threw my arms up in the air in frustration.
“Go and see Miss S and finally put your mind at rest. Georgie and I know it’s been eating away at you. You need answers, Jade.”
“I can’t hide anything from you two, can I?” I sighed, grabbing my phone. Molly was right—I couldn’t put it off any longer. I needed to find out what was going on.

Alicia was standing outside Sonia’s office, talking on her phone when I arrived.
“No, really, it was me. I was clearly reading the signs wrong. I can’t apologize enough.” Alicia’s eyes gleamed with smugness when she caught sight of me entering Sonia’s office. What was all that about? “We’ll forget it ever happened. I shouldn’t have crossed my professional boundaries. I don’t want this to come between us…” I didn’t bother to listen to the rest of her conversation as my eyes caught Sonia.
“Jade,” she said as she stood up from behind her desk. That was new. Sonia never stood up for anyone. “You can close the door.” I closed it with a puzzled look on my face. “Alicia doesn’t know I’m bringing you in on this mission yet.” It was a mission! Thank God! No, wait…if Sonia was bringing me in, it could only mean one thing! Damn it!
“The mission involves working with Alicia,” I groaned, taking a seat in front of her desk. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad this is a mission, but do I have to work with her? Can’t someone else do it?”
“Jade, I’m afraid you’re our only hope. I’m about to go against everything I’ve ever done while running the Seductors, but I can’t see any other way around it. Alicia has been on this case for almost two months and has gotten
nowhere.”
“You want me to take over Alicia’s mission?” I frowned. Since when had Alicia had a problem seducing a man? Everything started to dawn on me then, and I clutched the arms of my chair tightly.
“I need the two of you to work together. This steal…it’s asking a lot. We aren’t even sure if it exists.” Now Sonia was losing me. “If we secure what we’ve been hired to find, our clients are willing to pay over one hundred million dollars. Maybe even more. There is no real price for it.”  I was sure my mouth fell to the floor. One hundred million dollars? What the hell was the steal? “Jade, I’m asking a lot of you here, but I’ve hit a wall. If Alicia can’t work her magic, it can only
mean one thing.” With bated breath, I was hanging on her every word. “He isn’t over you.”

The seventh novel in the popular Cooper & Fry series.

How do you investigate the murder of a woman without a life? That is the challenge facing Cooper and Fry when a reclusive agoraphobic is found shot to death in her home. With no friends, no family, and virtually no contact with the outside world, the dead woman may have simply been an unlucky victim of a random homicide.

At virtually the same time, a raging house fire claims the life of a young mother and two of her children. But as the debris is cleared, troubling questions remain in the ashes. Among them, how did the fire start, where was the husband at two a.m. the day of the blaze, and was it really the fire that killed his family?
