She flung
open the front door and walked out onto the porch, planting her hands on the
railing and leaning into them. Sucking in a few mouthfuls of cool night air,
she looked up to find Drake standing at the bottom of the stairs, his eyes
reflecting the light coming from the house.
What are you doing out here?” she demanded, embarrassed she’d been
caught less than composed for a second time in an hour.
I could ask you the same thing.”
She
narrowed her eyes at him.
You’re infuriating.”
His mouth
flexed into a sinful smile.
I’ve never been called that before. Stubborn.
Unyielding. Hard.” Jesus.
All of those things.” He climbed the
steps, and she turned to face him.
But never infuriating. I think most people
would be too afraid to tell me that to my face.”
She darted
her gaze to his mouth and let out a shuddering breath.
Why are you out of the house by yourself?”
I’m not by myself. You’re here,” she replied sweetly.
You know what I mean.”
She
bristled, but kept her anger locked down.
I can look after myself.”
Your father has given me a direct order to guard your,” his eyes drifted
down hungrily, “body, and I’m a real stickler for rules and order.”
She glared
at him.
I just bet you are, but you should know I’ll make your life a
nightmare.”
His mouth
curled into a mocking smile.
You already do, sweetheart.”
Shaking her
head, she said,
I don’t need you here when I’m at home. I don’t
even know why you’re still here, lurking outside the front of my house like a
goddamn stalker.”
Your father wants me with you twenty-four-seven, so you’d better get
used to seeing my face.”
She didn’t
miss the fact he didn’t answer her other question.
I still want my privacy.”
Bathroom and shower breaks. All other times, you’re going to think I’m
glued to your ass.”
Wow. That
was an interesting visual, but it wasn’t wholly unappealing.

LOVE THE ONE YOU HATE by R.S. Grey @inkslingerpr @AuthorRSGrey

R.S. Grey’s new standalone romance, Love the One You Hate is out now! Check it out and grab your copy today!

About Love the One You Hate (OUT NOW!)

Nicholas Hunt is the man I hate.

For good reason.

His opinion of me is tainted by prejudice even before my arrival at his grandmother’s estate, and my first impression of him is just as abysmal.

His arrogance and icy demeanor make it clear that he’s the type of man who’s best handled at a distance.

Fortunately, space shouldn’t be an issue inside this Gilded Age mansion and its lush gardens. If I stick with the servants and he keeps to his sailboat and vintage Porsche, we should hardly cross paths at all. Unfortunately, at Rosethorn, I find that all roads eventually lead to Nicholas Hunt.

Sparks fly as we spar at the dinner table. Fighting words are flung in the shadows of the palatial halls.

We hang suspended in our hatred of one another, painfully oblivious to the heat and tension that build with every moment we’re left alone. We’re liable to kill one another, I think…right up until my eyes land on his lips and a new feeling grips hold of me: lust.

What’s worse?

He knows it.

They say you should keep your enemies close, but when Nicholas tightens his grip on my waist and draws me near, I’m not sure if it’s out of loathing or love.

One thing’s for sure—I intend to find out.

Excerpt

I walk over to the beer aisle and there’s a worker buffing
the floors and another man standing by the beer, looking at the different
brands. He’s just as bundled up as I am.
Taking a deep breath, I glance over all the different beers.
I try to look at the selection in front of the man, but I don’t want to invade
his space so I stick to what’s in front of me. Callum likes different types of
beer and not the usual Budweiser or Corona. That’s what makes this so
difficult. He always picks out unusual flavors. One time, he had a fixation on
a peanut butter and jelly beer. I tried it and it really did have a peanut
butter taste.
“All right, let’s see,” I say quietly, perusing all the
different specialty beers. The man beside me tenses as if he’s standing beside
a lunatic talking to herself. Oh wait, I was. I’m pretty sure it’s
not the craziest thing he’ll be witnessing tonight.
Closing my eyes, I reach out and grab two packs of beer.
Callum’s just going to have to deal with what I get. I open my eyes and look at
what I picked. One is an apple cider beer and the other is an IPA.
I turn to the man and clear my throat. I can’t see his face
because it’s hidden by the hood of his coat. “I am so sorry to bother you, but
have you by any chance tried any of these? I just want to know if they’re good
or not.”
He freezes and steps slowly away from the beer as if I
scared him. He doesn’t move or reply, which is strange and makes me regret
asking him in the first place. Now, all I want to do is get away from him. But
everything changes when his face comes into view.
My eyes go wide and my breath hitches in my lungs. A set of
familiar brown eyes meet mine and it’s as if everything around me disappears.
“Oh my God,” I whisper, trying to catch my breath. My arms go weak and I can
feel the beers slipping from my grasp, but the man in front of me saves them.
He sets the packs of beer on the floor and stares right into
my eyes. “I thought I was imagining things when I heard your voice.”
My heart skips a beat. It’s been years since I’ve seen
him. Brennan McLean. I knew him as my high school boyfriend, but
the world knows him as a superstar. I never thought I’d see him again,
certainly not after he rose to fame. Letting him go all those years ago was the
hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Excerpt

“Tell
me something about you, Evie.” Evie’s gaze darted to Luca, then away. She
chewed her bottom lip, seemingly contemplating whether to tell him something or
not.
“I
like computers.” Luca’s brows shot up. It wasn’t a surprise, he’d
suspected as much, but he thought she’d share something trivial, like a
favorite color.
“Makes
sense. You learned how to use the online system at work pretty quickly.”
Evie’s eyes dropped to her feet at the compliment, but Luca saw a hint of a
smile on her lips. “What do you spend most of your time doing on
computers?”
Evie
shrugged, looking uncomfortable for a moment. “Not much. Just some gaming
and things.”
Lie. Evie
had just told Luca a lie. He could tell by her pupils dilating, her gaze
darting away. There had also been a slight hitch in her heart rate. Why would
she lie about that?
“Ever
thought about studying IT?” Luca pushed.
There was
another pause before Evie’s gaze dropped, and she continued, “No. I,
uh . . . it hadn’t really crossed my mind.”
Another
lie. Interesting.
As Evie
took another step, her foot caught on something, and Luca could see she was
going to tumble down. Catching her arm with his lightning reflexes, Luca held
her body against his. Her skin was warm to touch where her shirt had risen
slightly.
When Evie
glanced up. Luca could smell vanilla and strawberries on her. She was all soft
and delicate, where he was hard and not delicate. He had to fight the urge to
pull her head up and press his lips to hers.
“Go on
a date with me.”
It was a
statement, but Luca still needed a yes. Evie looked taken aback. Luca was a bit
too. He hadn’t anticipated those words to leave his mouth, but now that they
had, they felt right. Knowing what kind of response he was going to receive
before she spoke the words, Luca patiently waited to rebut.
“I
can’t.”
Wishing she
would expand, he was disappointed when only silence followed.
Not willing
to give up so easily, Luca lowered his head and placed his lips next to her
ear.
“Go on
a date with me.”
He felt the
shiver run up her spine. Evie’s head turned, and her lips were a mere few
centimeters from his. Her warm breath touched his lips. If he just lowered his
head a fraction, they would be touching.
The
indecision was clear to see in her eyes, but beneath that, he could see the
desire. It was almost a desperate yearning to say yes. Deciding he didn’t want
to play fair, Luca pulled Evie closer. She wanted him as much as he wanted her.
“Say
yes,” Luca started a gentle stroke on the inside of the wrist as he
whispered the words into her ear. “Please.”
Trailing
his mouth down her neck, his lips never touched her, but the promise was there.
“Yes.”

BEFORE

by Bethany-Kris
Publication Date: April 20, 2020
Genres: Adult, Mafia, Organized Crime. Erotic Romance, Novella

Before everything changed …

He was just Lev Arsov. Bartender. Occasional illegal fighter. Struggling to get by.

Before the world watched …

She was just Gigi Parker. Unknown. Fledgling model. Barely making it work.

Before he was Pink, the mob enforcer, and she was Gigi Rey, the supermodel, they met by chance. It was only fun. No strings. Two people who didn’t have the first clue how different their lives would soon be.

But that was before …

Before everything changed.

*

Before is a free 31k preview of Bethany-Kris’s upcoming 112k standalone Mafia Romance, Pink. Blending in a contemporary beginning with Before, readers are introduced to how it all began for the mob enforcer and his supermodel. Note: Before is also included in Pink.

“Has anybody ever told you that your face should be on magazines?”

Gigi’s head popped up as a laugh burst from her lips. The man that had been working with the girls further down the bar approached her spot at the end, passing by at least twenty other people who gestured with a bit more ferocity at his blatant disregard for their shouts and demands. The white tee he wore stretched across the broad bands of muscle that made up an expansive chest. Rolled up at the sleeves, the fabric tightened to show off the way his strong arms and golden skin, dusted with dark hair, glinted under the pot lights that made up the backdrop of the bar when he placed them in front of her spot on the shiny top.

Black hair, shaved down to a well-groomed buzz, had a blue tint and only added to the sea-color of the stare that flicked over her features and then chanced a glance down at the low dip in the front of her romper. The man had no shame that he was checking her out, but she didn’t really mind all that much, either.

He wasn’t hard on the eyes.

It didn’t hurt to look at him.

Not at all.

And since he seemed content to drink in a good gulp of her, she did the same for him. Standing at least six and a half feet tall behind the bar, he towered higher than even the shelves of liquor behind him. Strong lines made up a face that didn’t have a hint of boyishness anywhere—not in the scruff that dotted a jaw and cheeks carved from stone. He was all man, all over. A thick brow quirked up when her stare slammed back into his, and a sexy grin stretched his thin lips wide to show off the white teeth that made up his smile.

And God.

What a fucking smile it was.

“Well, have they?” he asked.

Gigi had enough sense to swallow before she spoke, lest her next words come out in a girlish rush of hormones and stupidity. It wasn’t often a man could make her tongue-tied, and certainly not by only his approach.

But here she was.

Suddenly, this celebration was looking way better.

“It’s not the first time I’ve heard that line, actually,” she replied.

A laugh burst from his mouth, and yes, she somehow managed to feel that sound all over her body. The noise of the bar began to disappear all around her as the good-looking bartender with a body that looked more suitable to be in the ring than behind the bar leaned in. Edging a bit closer to her, he used his free hand to toss a yellow-checkered bar rag over his broad shoulder.

The action had her swallowing.

Again.

Because she’d noticed his fingers. Their length, the roughness of the digits like he used them a lot, and then their proximity to her when he dared to point one at her.

“But the better question,” he said, “is whether you’ve ever actually been on a magazine, hmm? Something familiar about that face.”

“Really? Because everyone likes to say they’ve never seen one like it.”

Those blue eyes of his blinked.

Then, he smirked.

“Maybe that’s it—never seen anything like it.”

It also wasn’t the first time she had been told that line, either. Except there was something about the way he said it and how his tone dipped at the end. Like his gaze roving down her throat when his tongue peeked out to lick along the seam of his bottom lip.

“Hey, are you gonna get us a fucking drink or—”

The bartender held up one large hand to the left, his palm stopping all of two inches away from the face of a beefy guy leaning across the bar top. “I’m only mixing for front tables tonight—fuck off to the other side of the bar before I move you there.”

Gigi grinned.

He hadn’t taken his eyes off her.

“I’m Gigi,” she said.

He opened his mouth to reply, but the announcer standing at the DJ’s booth just a few feet away from the boxing ring stopped him from saying anything at all when the man’s voice filled the speaker. His attention drifted to the man as he straightened up to his full height, allowing him to easily stare over the crowd of people.

“Next fight—Lev Arsov versus Draven Kinley. Ten minutes to start—one ten-minute round. Betting begins now.”

His gaze came back to her, sharper and sexier than ever. This time, that grin of his was a little more sinful and tempting.

But also dangerous.

“Looks like I’m up next.”

Gigi’s head snapped to the side, and she was sure her face reflected the shock radiating through her gut in that moment. He was just a bartender, right? “What?”

He winked. “Lev Arsov—that’s me. Stick around, Gigi. See what happens next.”

As delicious as a spoonful of Nutella. You know you shouldn’t indulge, but at the end of the day, you can’t resist. And why would you?

He detached his lips from mine, dove back in, kissed me some more.

It was hot.

Nutella with sparkles.

But then he stopped, looked at me with fire in his eyes and dropped the bomb that would define our relationship.

“That’s why I love your kind of girls so much.”

It wasn’t a cold shower. It was an Arctic Tsunami.

I was just another preconceived notion, and this manslut of a rock star might have had an Asian fetish. (…)

Asian wasn’t a type.

It was the continent I came from. It was an ocean of misconception.

It was a melting pot of cultural mishaps of western minds.

And being Japanese, I hated men thinking I could become a Geisha once in their bed.

I liked sex. I liked men but not because I was born in Japan, not because I could become a mistress, and not because porn had made “Asian girls” the ultimate tight pussy to fuck.

I liked sex because I was me.

So, coming out of the bathroom, I rejected Lars.

(…)

Unfortunately, I had to talk to him later that night, and when he thought I came for more, I burst his bubble.

He had never heard of an Asian fetish and was convinced it wasn’t a thing.

I told him to check it out.

I explained why I didn’t have sex or date men who fell in this category.

He listened.

He learned.

And we ended up talking all night, and then some more on the phone the next day and around coffee after that.

We talked about who we were, who I was, where I came from, what he liked, how he became a rock star, how it changed his life.

We were spilling all of our secrets.

Or almost all of them.

We learned everything and anything there was to know about one another.

We spent nights together, talking for hours, falling asleep next to each other.

We were together for most of our free time, even if we barely had any.

We were always attached at the hip whenever we could be, wherever we would go.

It all started with a hot kiss, but Lars Trouble had become my most beautiful story.

He had become my best friend.

Blurb
I’m a fighter.
At least that’s what my daddy always told me.
It’s in our blood.

Hard work, hustle, and a little Hennessy is the Reid motto.
He taught me to fight for everything I wanted in life.
Take down those who threaten the dream.

My dream is to marry the perfect man.
That man is my father’s best friend and I won’t stop until I have him.
And at Daddy’s wedding in Costa Rica, I plan to make that dream finally come
true.
Then, my life will be smooth sailing.

Until a chance flight with an arrogant pilot throws me off course.
Literally.
Camilo’s decisions affect my future, and I can’t allow anything—not even a
cocksure, ridiculously hot idiot—to stand in my way.

Problem is, he fights back.
Every battle I’ve won in life, he shoots down and exposes me for the fraud I
am.
Trapped in paradise with my devilishly handsome nemesis seems like one of the
seven circles of Hell…and, boy, is it getting hot around here.

He’ll strip me of my armor.
Remind me of my past.
Force me to rethink my future.
And help me live in the moment.
Will he steal my heart too?

One thing’s for sure.
This girl won’t give up without a fight.
