I have to get this off of my “to do” list. Here we go…. Arizona and her BFF Sam are spying a moving truck down the street. The area where they live is still depressed from the real estate market low. This leaves a few homes in the area empty. Sam and Arizona are a little bold and sneak into some of them. As the house contents are being emptied, they spy instruments and drums. Peaking their interest of course, they go investigate. Thus begins the Jesse Barringer heartthrob, wanna be a rock star saga. He is the son of Alton (thinking of him as Tommy Lee and his son Brandon-my opinion). Alton has a promising career but as soon as he is exposed the excess, he falls.
Arizona Wakefield is the lead in the school’s marching band. The school plays a minor role, as well as some teachers and admin. I loved how the school band was looked up to. I also loved how Arizona was so proud of her role as the lead and he skills. I dont know anything about school bands but this made them look really cool!
The author starts this sort of slow and builds up to the discovery of Alton’s drama. Then she slowly introduces my favorite part, the mental health issue. Arizona has a family that experienced a devastating loss. All is revealed but not without tears. Her parents sacrificed so much, both being lawyers, leaving their practice and paychecks to open a copy and mailing store. Yeah, I know this seems insignificant, but the reason behind the move is gut wrenching!
By the time I got to the halfway mark, I was totally all in. I was scared in the beginning that the pace seemed slow. I truly feel love for Ginger Scott, her talent, her books and her friendship over the last 5 years, and I was worried I wouldnt like the book. My entire dilemma was hurting me. What do you do if you just dont like a book? Thankfully I didnt have to find that out now. The band was equally part of the plot as was the high school band.
The only thing I wanted was some more Sam and Jesse’s cousin Rags. Although this may be leading into a series that follows them on the Realty TV circuit. That is a great thought! Maybe Alton can get his act together for book 2

Blurb:
The last time I saw Declan St. James was at our rehearsal dinner. That was shortly before he jilted me at the altar. To avoid the swarm of whispers and finger pointing every time I dared to show my face in public, I fled two hours south to Atlanta and never looked back. Over the last decade, I’d planned hundreds of scenarios about how our next meeting would go down. The expletives I’d hurl at him. Which knee I might use to annihilate his balls. Which dimpled cheek on his ridiculously handsome face I would send a stinging slap across.
But being elbow deep in a cow’s ass was not one of them.
Normally, I didn’t get up close and personal to a bovine’s rectum. At least not since veterinarian school. But desperate times found me back home to attend my grandfather’s funeral, who happened to be the town’s large animal vet. Those two facts had left me wading through manure in Roy Wallace’s pasture to care for a distressed heifer.
While time and maturity seemed to have changed him from the boy I knew, I still wasn’t falling for his charm. Or his hard, chiseled body. Or ass you could eat dinner off of.
No, I wasn’t going back down that street again. Unfortunately, Declan didn’t seem to get the message. Instead, he seemed as stubborn as he ever was and ready for a fight. It’ll be the fight of his life for me to let him back in my heart.

Enter Mo Morrison.
Enormous. Scary.
Quiet.
Mo doesn’t say much, and Lottie’s used to getting attention. And she wants Mo’s attention. Badly.
But Mo has a strict rule. If he’s guarding your body, that’s all he’s doing with it.
However, the longer Mo has to keep Lottie safe, the faster he falls for the beautiful blonde who has it so together, she might even be able to tackle the demons he’s got in his head that just won’t die.
But in the end, Lottie and Mo don’t only have to find some way to keep hands off until the threat is over, they have to negotiate the overprotective Hot Bunch, Lottie’s crazy stepdad, Tex, Mo’s crew of frat-boy commandos, not to mention his nutty sisters.
All before Lottie finally gets her Dream Man.
And Mo can lay claim to his Dream Girl.

He picked up the paper, turned it over and read it again.
It stated, plainly, he was fucked.
More alarmingly, it stated, chillingly, Mac was in danger.
This was a problem more than it was already a colossal motherfucking problem.
Any other one of his girls, he’d pick up the phone to Lee Nightingale, the man behind Nightingale Investigations, the commander of the baddest badass motherfuckers in Denver. He’d hand over this letter and he’d get this problem solved.
But Mac was Charlotte McAlister, Jet McAlister Chavez’s little sister. Jet was married to Eddie Chavez. Eddie was Lee’s best friend. And Jet worked for Indy, Lee’s wife, the Queen of the Rock Chicks, and thus Jet Chavez was a bona fide Rock Chick.
Mac might not be a card-carrying member of the Rock Chicks, mostly because she had a job where she worked nights, the time those crazy bitches instigated the most fucked-up of their varying antics. Though they weren’t averse to mornings and afternoons. It was just that the stun-gunnings, kidnappings and the like mostly took place at night, and Mac was busy then.
She was still a Rock Chick, or at least she was by association.
Considering the Rock Chick link and the blood ties to Jet, if Lee knew Mac was in danger, he’d tear the town apart to put a stop to it.
And Eddie…
Now Eddie, Smithie didn’t even want to think about it. The man was a cop. The shit Lee and his boys did with flair and a flagrant disregard to just about anything, Eddie could not do.
But Eddie wouldn’t blink at doing whatever he had to do to make his sister-in-law safe.
And the man had mouths to feed.
So yeah.
This was a problem even more than it already was a colossal motherfucking problem because Smithie couldn’t call Lee.
Which meant Smithie had to find a different set of badasses to deal with it.
His first call would normally be the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Mac wasn’t one of theirs, neither was Smithie, but they had ties to Lee, they could keep a secret, and they didn’t dick around when it came to women and their safety.
But they’d just come out of a war, and like any war, that had been some serious fucked-up shit.
They needed a breather.
Lee, and Chaos, also had ties to…
“Well, hell,” Smithie muttered, the words on the letter blurring, the sick feeling in the back of his throat easing.
He dropped the letter and picked up his cell.
If you couldn’t call a badass…
Then it was far from second best to call a commando.

About KRISTEN ASHLEY:Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.
Nothing’s changed.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Brayden
I’m the man with it all.
The pinstriped jersey covering my back garners easy cash, flashy cars and fast women. My gilded name drapes over the city in neon. I have everything. Everything excerpt the thing I crave most. Ashley Foster.
There’s on addiction I never tried to beat.
They say you can never go home again. I’m out to prove them wrong. But what if returning requires facing all the things you destroyed? To what lengths would you go to earn forgiveness?
Would you beg? Would you borrow? Would you steal?
Stealing home is the riskiest move in baseball. But the reward…If it works? Winning her back is a chance I’m finally ready to take.
My pockets are filled with stars. It’s time to follow them home.
This time, I don’t want to steal all her firsts, I want to lay claim on all her lasts.

California girl Lola has her life all set up: business degree, handsome fiancé, fast track career, when suddenly, without warning, everything tragically implodes. After years fruitlessly searching for love, marriage, and children, she decides to take the radical step of seeking spirituality and meaning far outside the parameters of modern life in the insular, ultraorthodox enclave of Boro Park, Brooklyn. There, fate brings her to the dysfunctional home of newly-widowed Jacob, a devout Torah scholar, whose life is also in turmoil, and whose small children are aching for the kindness of a womanly touch.
While her mother direly predicts she is ruining her life, enslaving herself to a community that is a misogynistic religious cult, Lola’s heart tells her something far more complicated. But it is the shocking and unexpected messages of her new community itself which will finally force her into a deeper understanding of the real choices she now faces and which will ultimately decide her fate.

I truly loved this book. I never read the author before, but, after this I bought the others. It just grabbed me in. Lots of high school drama, love, drugs, sadness and love. Michaela troubled teen- I liked the character a lot and felt her angst. She was perfect, had to be perfect, her family was loaded, connected and viscous. Her boyfriend was one sick person. Sick in his mind, heart and on drugs.
“People loved to look at me and covet my life, but if they looked deep enough they’d discover I was spineless and empty. There was nothing there worth coveting, nothing to desire or want.”
Holden, Delilah and family added the tears to every single plot twist. What I got on the back 25% was the Hayden football scenario. Pay attention to that. Brilliant story!
Holden was deep. People didn’t know him, didnt understand him and didnt care. I think if he was 6’4″ they would have bullied him. His size prevented that.
“No, I mean why did you stay with a guy who would take you around people like this? Why didn’t you demand more respect than that?”
“Now I saw her for who she really was. Now I understood how wrong I’d been about her. Now I couldn’t deny that I’d watched her for years without understanding why.”
Holden was also a closet artist. It was therapy after his family situation. Sometimes I wanted a page with just one little picture. Something that told me what Deli looked like or how she danced. You just have to imagine.
Best character should have been Holden right? NO it was Angela. The owner of the restaurant where Holden worked. She was one tough lady. She gets the best character award from me. I hope she is honored!
“You again? Who the hell let you in here?” Angela smiled. “It’s a busy night for fortune telling apparently. But you showed up too late. I just finished shoving the crystal ball back up my ass. Not that it’s needed to know what’ll happen to you.”
