A Night of Southern Comfort
Okay friends – here is the deal. I need help naming a place in my current work in progress – His Southern Temptation. It is the sequel to “A Night of Southern Comfort” and it tells Lucky’s story.
Well, Jackson (the hero from AnoSC) and Lucky are best friends and cousins – their mothers are sisters. Jackson’s mom owns the Southern Comfort Diner and just across Main Street in Elliott. VA sits the local beauty parlor – owned by Sissy, Lucky’s Mom.
I need a name for her salon.
Sissy looks a lot like Sissy Spacek, she’s funny, outgoing and a peron who everyone goes to for help. Her salon is one of the best places to find out what is going on in Elliott.
The one I choose will be used in the book and the winner will be listed on the acknowledgments page. Thank you!
So far, the following fave names are on the list from my FB buddies:
A Snip in Time

The Final Cut

The Best Little Hairhouse in Virginia

Sissy’s Shear Shak

Sissy’s Sassy Salon

Shear Sissy

Sissy’s Primp & Priss

Sissy’s Curl Up & Dye
If you want to know more about “The Boys are back in Town” series – check out the series page on my website.
Burn it up, Robin

Sorry I’ve been away so long! I left you stuck with that shackling scene forever. Not deliberate, I assure you. I find it very hard to keep the flow of my story in mind when I’m doing other things. I’ve spent the past couple of weeks realizing I need to rework aspects of Striking Distance, freaking out over that realization, and then getting down to work.

This time, I really had to pull out all the stops to figure out what I needed to change, even hanging a clothesline across my living room and putting note cards on it with clothes pins.

I finally came to grips with the situation, went back to Chapter 1 — yes, Chapter 1 — and included an element of backstory I hadn’t wanted to include because it was just too emotional. It took an email from a friend who independently came up with the same backstory element and suggested I consider it — to which I replied “NO!” — for me to realize that this just had to be the way it was.

Now I’m back up to Chapter 3. And when is this book due? Now?

But in the midst of this, I got an email from my wonderful editor sharing with me the art for the reissue of Ride the Fire, which may be my best book of all time. Everything about that story was inspired, every moment on the page clear. I wrote it in five months while working full time — close to a record for me. And when I was done, I was so devastated by the emotional toll of the story that I could do nothing but cry for six weeks. I was a hot mess.

Ride the Fire has been out of print since I got the rights to the story back from Dorchester, which originally published it in 2005. This version will include the as-yet-unwritten epilogue, as well as some tweaks to bring it into alignment with the author’s cut of Carnal Gift. If you remember, Dorchester cut 100 pages out of Carnal Gift to make it fit the company’s maximum page count. It broke my heart and really hurt the story. It also made me revise Ride the Fire before I was even finished with it. When I self-published Carnal Gift, I restored those pages, but that meant that Ride the Fire was now out of sync.

When this version of Ride the Fire is released in February 2013, the Kenleigh-Blakewell trilogy will be as I intended it to be. The first two books are available as ebooks. Ride the Fire is being published by Berkley so it will be in both print and ebook format.

For novelists, all of our books are our children. As a parent of nine of them (and counting!), I can honestly say that I don’t play favorites, even if one or more has done better than the others.

Until recently, authors shared parenting responsibilities with their publishers. We write the books and in many cases promote them as well, while the publishers edit, create covers, print, distribute and promote the books to bookstores and readers.

Sometimes it’s a wonderful collaboration. The book is nurtured by both, and flourishes out in the hard, cold world. But in many cases, the book is neglected by one parent or the other.

Sadly, this was the case with Impossibly Tongue Tied, my second novel. The publisher admitted they had no plans other than to toss the book onto the shelf.

Hearing this broke my heart.  At the time I wrote it, I was going through a family crisis, and put all my energy and angst into creating a fun, dark farce on the world of Hollywood fame and celebrity. I cried and laughed the whole time a wrote it. (Sort of like Diane Keaton, as she processed Jack Nicholson out of her system via her play, in Something’s Gotta Give; I’ve got that clip, below…)

From the letters I received from readers, I was happy to hear I’d accomplished my goal.

Thankfully, the publisher only has rights to the book in North America (for now, anyway; my publisher will only allow me to  buying leftover inventory at a price that is worse than wholesale, and shipping above that; bookstores get free shipping, whereas the authors do not; go figure).

For those of you who live in other parts of the world, I’ve created a digital eBook version ofImpossibly Tongue Tied, and I’ve priced it at a very reasonably. In Amazon.uk, you’ll only pay£1.96 and throughout the other Amazon online stores, EUR 2,68.

If you enjoy it, please do review it within Amazon (it will be up soon, in the Apple iTunes Bookstore as well) and on GoodReads.

My baby deserves to be loved. It takes a village to love a book,

Josie

Relatively Famous, by Jessica Park

Relatively Famous

Well that was another fab story! I love Dani and the dynamic of Mark Ocean was just so cool. It just ended too fast. I still miss Finn and now I miss Dani and Nathan and Kayla. Another reminder our Indie authors are great sand we gotta support them.

Relatively Famous delivers Hollywood with heart. Meet Dani McKinley: A typical teen whose world is rocked when she finds out that her father is a famous Hollywood action star. Now meet Mark Ocean: A self-serving actor with a floundering career who sees that a daughter is just what he needs to reinvent himself as a family man and get back on track. When the two decide to spend the summer together, they must not only wrangle their own love lives, but try to figure out who they really are to themselves and to each other.

Now armed with credit cards, club memberships, and a new wardrobe, Dani learns that what Mark has in wealth, he sorely lacks in parenting skills. Trying to show Mark that parenting is about more than loading her up with Prada bags and taking her to movie premieres is challenging enough, but she’s also got her hands full with her new friends. Oh, and the boys… Dani meets Jason, a gorgeous young personal trainer who is easy on the eyes and wildly flirtatious. But is this smug hottie the one for her? Or will she ignore her friends eye-rolling and go for the goofy but sweet surfer?

While juggling her own complicated love life, Dani tries to set her father up with someone less likely to appear on a VH1 reality show, and someone more… well, normal. And age-appropriate. And dressed in anything but a thong bikini. But whether Mark is able to heal old wounds and move forward with anything more than a meaningless fling remains to be seen.

Can Dani fit in with this new, fast-moving California crowd without losing herself? With the world at her fingertips and hot boys now after her, staying grounded gets tough. And can Mark drop his egocentric approach to life and learn to appreciate how truly wonderful his daughter is? As driven as he is to get that A-list acting role, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get there, even if it means using his daughter. Or is he…? Mark and Dani’s relationship hits a few highs, but the question becomes whether the lows are too much.

Breaking Point (I-Team #5) by Pamela Clare

I loved Natalie!!  She may be my favorite heroine in this series now.  She was smart, willing to push herself to help Zach while they were prisoners. That part was so real I was so scared. I liked how she was able to deal with her past demons too. Very realistic and touching. Zach was also a damaged soul in need of healing and believing again – how can you not love a guy like that? even though he said he was not a good mate, or could never be a spouse, I knew that was not true. He had lost all his friends and his Mom and the severed relations with his Senator Dad were just among the obstacles. This story had many layers, which kept me guessing and the pages turning. It moved at a fast pace and never slipped on the details. You feel like you are right there. This is just one more reason why I love this series. You are guaranteed an exciting, believable, sexy, and emotional read. Breaking Point was another fantastic addition to the series. Fans are going to have a hard time picking their favorite among the series, but no one will be disappointed. It was that good!

“If you die, angel, it means I’m already dead.”

“He held up the AK-47, the muscles in his arm bunching against the weight. “This is an assault rifle.” Then held up the handgun. “This is a semi-automatic pistol.”
Then he gave a little thrust of his hips and looked down at his penis. “That is my gun. As you’ve discovered, it’s pumpaction like a shotgun , but it doesn’t fire bullets.”
elo winced, gritted his teeth “Want to tell me why … you’re sitting here cuddling me, Hunter?”
“Rossiter says I have to keep you warm. He thinks you’re in shock or some shit.”
Despite his words and the tone of his voice, there was really worry on Hunter’s face.

“Great. Thanks.” Darcangelo’s head fell back to rest against Hunter’s vest, the big guy’s strength clearly spent.

A muscle clenched in Hunter’s jaw. “Hey, don’t mention it–ever.”

“When I realized I was going to die, the only thing I could think about was you and what an idiot I’d been for not telling you how I felt about you. I think I’ve loved you from the moment you lifted that awful blindfold off my face. I opened my eyes, and there you were, the bravest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever known. You set me free Natalie. In so many ways, you set me free.”

“Son of a bitch!” Hunter stared. “I fucking hate it
when he does shit like that. That man has a supernatural relationship with gravity.”

“Wulfe leaned in. “Where did you send Ms. Benoit?”
“Disneyland.”
“Who knows my connection to the Zetas?”
“The US Marshall Service, SWAT, my dentist, Oprah—”
“How did you know we were coming? Clearly, someone tipped you off.”
“That guy.” Zach points with a jerk of his head toward of of Wulfe’s minions. The man looked uncertainly at Wulfe, taking a step backward. “He text me just before you stepped in the elevator.”

“Marc to Gabe: “What do you know about the lemon stuff? You weren’t in desert combat. You were a park ranger. I’m not dissing that. It’s an important job. Someone has to keep the chipmunks in line. I’ve watched Chip and Dale. I know how sneaky those little bastards can be.”
“Awakened by the oppressive midday heat, Zach opened his eyes to see a small blue and tan lizard doing what looked like push-ups about a foot away from his face.”

“Natalie was going to stay at home, cooking meals, baking pies, and making sure their life together was comfortable. When Zach came home from a hard day’s work, she wanted to be there for him, not coping with her own stress and fatigue. She knew some women would object to her decision, but this was her life, and she was going to live it as she chose.”

“Zach kissed her forehead. “I’m not going to let anything like that happen to you again. You’re going to live out your days as the cosseted and cherished wife of a chief deputy U.S. Marshal.”

“Look!” She pointed, a smile on her face. “Wild pigs!”

“They have razor-sharp tusks, so don’t try to hug one.”

“He wanted to tell her that if it were simply a matter of crossing the river Styx and trading places with Beau, he’d be gone in a heartbeat.”

“I wish Darcangelo were here. He’d fucking hate this.”

“Got enough leg room there, Rossiter?” Marc asked.

“You bet. If not I’ll just make use of the overhead bin.”

“He felt empty, broken, defeated.”

Forgotten about you?” He caught her chin, forced her to make eye contact, his gaze flashing anger, then slowly going gentle. “That would never happen. Never.”

And Natalie got the sense that she’d hurt him.”

“All those people – poor Sr. Marquez, Ana-Letitia, Sergio – they died because of me? I brought that down on them? Oh, God!”

Then she turned and fled up the stairs.

“Well, I’d say you handled that with great sensivity.”

“Go to hell, Hunter!” Zach stood there, staring after her.

“Your first.”

“If I told you your bass ass looks fantastic in the moonlight, would you hold that against me?”

“This is what I love to see–different branches of law enforcement at each other’s throats. It gives the bad guys the head start they need, which in turn gives us all job security.”

Impossibly Tongue Tied, by Josie Brown

“Brad, Angelina, Britney and Kevin may want to check out Josie Brown’s new novel, Impossibly Tongue-Tied, for its ripped-from-the-headlines plot that mixes their scandals together…”
– PAGE SIX, New York Post

“Josie Brown gives us another page-turning guilty pleasure.” – Marin Magazine

All over Hollywood, men are dialing O—for orgasms. Her steamy naughty talk fills them with lust and longing, and helps them perform like the studs they claim to be.

In truth, the industry’s favorite “erotic phone operatrix” is Nina Harte, a struggling actress who has put her career on hold so that her husband, Nathan, can pursue his own dreams of stardom.

When Nathan’s career takes off, so does he, leaving Nina and their four-year-old son, Jake, for his diva costar, Katerina McPherson. Then “Kat ‘n’ Nat” are crowned the media’s newest celebrity sweethearts, and Kat labels Nina an unfit mother in order to win custody of Jake, just so that she can have that highly-coveted celebrity accessory—an adorable child—sans any unsightly stretch marks.

The one person who does care about Nina is Nathan’s agent, Sam Godwin. In fact, he’s in love with her. And because he has both a heart and a conscience, Sam feels guilty for having put Nat in Kat’s path in the first place . . .

So, how will he feel when he learns that Nina and O are one and the same?

Impossibly Tongue Tied

Bared, by Jill Shalvis

Just what I needed to read. Complete with love, lust and sex. AHHHH I will sleep well tonight! Emma Willis never saw herself as a model — especially for a sensual fantasy calendar — until she has to do a photo shoot in her twin sister’s place. When Emma puts on barely-there lingerie in front of the photographer, hottie Rafe Delacantro, she feels sexy…and more uninhibited than she’s ever been. Before she knows it, she’s enticing him to let off a little steam with her!

The minute Emma shows up, Rafe knows she’s not the model he’s expecting. She’s too fascinating, too tempting for him to resist. Fine. They’ll share a steamy fling that will end when the shoot is finished. But the more time he spends in Emma’s seductive presence, the more involved he gets…and the more he wants of her. He now has to convince her that their affair can last after the camera is put away

Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon

I wasn’t thrilled with this and it is more like 2.5 stars. The way her husbands cialis focus group went I was lost. I was waiting for the part where I understood why he was demoted, never got it. The purpose of the focus group was the commercial not the product, so I was like wtf?? Anyways the daily postings with Researcher 101?? There a relationship begins to grow between them, but I did not get it and the anonymity factor? lost me there too. What was SO annoying was the answers that were lengthy and we had no clue what the ?’s were. All in all it did nothing. How did other rate it as 4 or more?

Wife 22

Maybe it was those extra five pounds I’d gained. Maybe it was because I was about to turn the same age my mother was when I lost her. Maybe it was because after almost twenty years of marriage my husband and I seemed to be running out of things to say to each other.

But when the anonymous online study called “Marriage in the 21st Century” showed up in my inbox, I had no idea how profoundly it would change my life. It wasn’t long before I was assigned both a pseudonym (Wife 22) and a caseworker (Researcher 101).

Unleashed (Ross Siblings #1) by Cherrie Lynn

I thought it was ok. There was a little too much smut and I felt that something was missing. I especially hated when they ran to the hospital to Todd that was just dumb! I never ever say too much sex either so maybe I am way off here. It’s not enough that Kelsey’s husband left her for another woman. Oh, no. The “other woman” had to be her best friend Evan’s fiancée. Not only has she lost her marriage, she fears losing Evan to the lingering awkwardness and humiliation that hangs between them.

It’s not enough that Kelsey’s husband left her for another woman. Oh, no. The “other woman” had to be her best friend Evan’s fiancée. Not only has she lost her marriage, she fears losing Evan to the lingering awkwardness and humiliation that hangs between them.

Evan has no intention of letting that happen. He’s got plans…namely, an extra plane ticket to Hawaii now his future wife is out of the picture. There’s only one person he wants on the trip with him, the one who’s always been there for him. The one he should never have let slip away into the arms of a traitorous friend who shattered her heart.

Kelsey is anticipating a week of fun in the sun with the man who’s always treated her like a little sister. No one’s more surprised when she discovers that Evan has seduction on his mind—and that she’s more than ready for it.

Love is the most powerful healing force of all. But past demons have a way of ripping open old wounds, and threatening the survival of even the strongest friendship…

Warning: This title contains explicit sex between best friends, graphic language…and a hero who knows how to put the hot in “hot tub”.

Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3) by Pamela Clare

I could not sit down to write a review for a few hours. I was stunned at the complex story that took place here. OMG they are getting better and better if that is possible. What can I say about the I Team?? Love them and Tom (even though he is an ass sometimes). After Extreme Exposure and Hard Evidence I had to move right along. I finished this amazing authors work in a day. OK I read fast and have a lot of time, but darn this was great and I was blown away again.

We met Sophie before and this was all her own book!! Sophie Alton and Hunt spent one unforgettable night together, 12 years ago, the prologue was great too. Anyways when they meet again they both had fulfilled their dreams and Hunt had a bad start to non military life. So sad it broke my heart. Now FF 12 yrs to the meet, all orchestrated by Hunt. WOW the twisting and turning and oh so much DOC corruption, I was in love!!
Seeing into the justice system and the DOC with its few corrupt and evil players, it was scarey how things happened and nobody was shocked because of Marc and Emily’s beginning.

Well I can not spoil it but but about 70% the entire story takes the most amazing turn. WOW Filled with tons of action as well as mystery and sex it was a page turner.

“It’s not so much where I want you,Sophie, as it is how. Nothing tastes quite like a woman, and no woman tastes like you. – Marc Hunter”
