The Kiss after Midnight (The Midnight Trilogy) by Marvin Amazon @marvazon

I absolutely loved this book and had so many questions for the author. Now I am getting caught up and I have to give away a few copies. When you really enjoy  book and want to give it away that is the clue that it is THAT good.

Here are my questions and his answers:

I read the “about the author” Where does someone from the other side of
the world get such knowledge of NYC? (being a NYer I will say it was so
 accurate)
This was quite difficult as I tried my hardest to make it as authentic as possible, especially as I wanted a core audience to be New Yorker’s. I researched lots and lots of things: parks, street names, hotels, restaurants, parking lots, distance between places  e.t.c. I also secured assistance from some friends of mine living in New York. They helped me with many details, including the way New Yorker’s refer to things, in comparison to how it is done here in the UK.
How did you do research on cartels? I mean the entire set up and family
> tree was very tricky. I myself love when a story is so well put together
that you feel like you need to pay attention. Was it hard to write a
> character that you would not be friends with? or even hate?
The creation of the criminal organization was probably the hardest aspect of this novel. I looked at the possibilities of different types of crime families. At one point, I even considered using the Italian mafia. Once I decided where I wanted to go with the story, I settled with the South/Central American drug cartels as it gave me a lot of scope to work with, especially with some of the story lines yet to come in future books. I read up on the cocaine crime wave of the 70s and 80s. I also researched various characters deemed to be powerful figures during the boom. After familiarizing myself with the hierarchical trees of those organizations, I modified it and made it fit around my story.
Writing some of the characters was difficult. Some really grated at me, and I most definitely hated them. One who comes to mind is Antonio, who I particularly struggled with. For characters like him, I had to focus on the grander plans of the series and the story as a whole, difficult as it was to continue watching him inflicting chaos without any consequences.
The story moved fast and while it did, how did you run three family “saga’s” at the same time?
The three families played a big part in the story and although at times, there was a danger of  over elaborating on certain sections, I strived to ensure that the story flowed and moved forward, while developing the story lines of every family involved.
In just my attempt to be swooning over him, who is Tobias most like? Was
he pure fiction or did you give him qualities of people you know?
I saw Tobias as a man who genuinely had a nice heart. His lifestyle hinted at excess, and on the surface he seemed quite shallow. But as the novel progressed, he started to show his gentler side and became quite a sensitive character. I based him on a number of people I know, including myself. His morals are so close to some I see in myself: The trust he has for others, his habit of seeing the best in everyone and his desire to uncover the truth, even when it could be more beneficial not to.
What  actor would you cast ? (I won’t be the only one who will want to know…wink wink)
The first actor who popped into my head when I started writing him was Alex Pettyfer

What actor or famous person would you cast as Penelope and Annabel?
These two women will feature significantly in all the books, but I’m still struggling with the best people to play them. Early names I thought of included: Rosario Dawson and Eva Mendes
I think Annabel is Rosario for sure
rosario-dawson-710976876 Rosario is the best pick for Anabel
rossana-najera 2  Rosanna Najera soap actress Rossana-Nájera 1  I think she could turn Tobias’ head when she gets to the club.
I know because of the family type business they were in, family means a
> lot. That said did you favor Rico and Maria? They were the two who I
> thought were most likable. I guess your words are powerful because I liked them both.
Apart from Tobias, Rico was my favorite character in the novel. I sympathized with him many times throughout the book. He truly loved Antonio, even if he didn’t always agree with his actions. I also liked Marie’s character. She reminded Rico of the life he could have if he left the organization. Her love for him was strong.

What is next for you? Can we get a sneak peek into book 2?
I am currently applying the finishing touches to the sequel of my fantasy series, The Corin Chronicles. I will continue with the sequel to The Midnight Trilogy after that one is complete. The title of the sequel is The Midnight Catastrophe. I will add an excerpt early next year.

Just cause I can NOT resist this is the author: (wink omg I can definitely find a place as a NYPD Detective…wink sigh)
