Exclusive Excerpt:

I stop at the bodega on the corner of Abercorn and Broughton. I am in desperate need of an energy drink and salty carbs, two things not commonly accessible at work. While standing in front of the cooler, trying to decide which flavor of radioactive neon liquid I want to consume, I feel a heavy, uncomfortable presence fill the space behind me.

“Don’t even think about tucking any of those under your shirt and stealing them.”

“What?”

I know exactly who it is standing behind me, extremely too close. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. A completely expected reaction to Officer Jackass.

The butterflies lightly fluttering in my stomach, however, is not expected at all.

I look over my shoulder toward him and crinkle my face.

“Try not to commit any crimes right now, please.”

I roll my eyes, open the cooler, and grab a random can, just to move away from him.

“I’m not a thief. And I’m certainly not dumb enough to try to stuff cold beverages into my clothes. I’d have freezer burn before I could even get out of here.”

I turn to walk away, but the broadness of his shoulders—of him—makes it almost impossible to move in any direction.

“Frostbite,” he says, with his stone-cold Terminator look.

“Huh?”

“You’d get frostbite, not freezer burn.”

“Oh, good grief, whatever. Now, please will you excuse me?”

He steps aside, but only slightly, and I shimmy myself past him sideways.

I head up to the counter and place my items down to be scanned. My entire body shivers. How can one person give me chills in a good and a bad way simultaneously? I try not to think on it too much. I’d like to get out of here before he tries to frisk me.

Mostly because I’m not entirely sure if I’d love or hate experiencing a frisking from him.

“Four forty-seven,” the clerk says. I fish around in my large bag. I know I have a five-dollar bill in here somewhere.

“Some of us have a job to go to. Will you hurry up, please?”

That fucking voice. It lingers in the air. It’s smooth and deep and sexy as hell.

And aggravating as fuck.

I swing my head up to meet his searing gaze. I also notice he’s holding the same damn bag of chips and drink I’m buying for myself.

Motherfucker.

I pull my wallet from my bag.

“You know what?” I say to the clerk, nodding my head back to Officer Jackass. “Put his stuff on mine too.” The clerk leans sideways to look around me. He punches the keys of the cash register a few times.

“Eight ninety-four,” he says. I slip my card into the chip slot and wait for it to process.

“For the love of God, what are you buying?” Officer Jackass mutters under his breath. He hasn’t picked up on the fact I’m buying his crap too. The card machine beeps. I take my card, place it back in my wallet, and grab my purchased items.

“Thanks,” I say to the clerk.

“Have a nice day,” he replies.

I turn to Officer Jackass. He rolls his eyes at me. I give him my most wicked “Fuck off” grin and flip him off. Most people might be scared to give a cop the finger. Not me. Not to this particular cop, anyway.

A Stranger on the Beach: A Novel by Michele Campbell @MCampbellBooks #review

Mind BLOWN WOW I needed a night to get over this one. Through the entire book I was page turning fast! So I will say the author has a way of doing different POV well. I usually dont like it when there are alternating chapters but, this wasnt one of those.

She tells you what the characters want you to know….hint..It will keep you guessing through to the end. The family of Caroline is interesting. The set up for the family hate is that the parents die and Caroline and her sister are the only ones who inherit from them. So she has a sister that she is very close with. Her daughter Hannah doesn’t seem to like her very much, seems like she is closer to her dad Jason. Caroline in the beginning seems to be at a point in life where her daughter is in college away from home and she throws herself into this Hamptons dream home. She plans to start designing homes and grabbing some wealthy neighbors to resume her business.

The start of the home descriptions had me thinking that all she cared about was material things, designer clothes and home furnishings.

There is one scene describing the view from her bedroom. Sounds like a dream. There is also talk of the “light show” on the ceiling that goes to music. It was screaming “I am rich” I will say that nothing is as it seems. it is a new must read for the summer. A lot of police procedure that is very accurate too. The stranger, Aiden, was likable throughout the book too. Aiden and his brother had a lot of loyalty. He is “known” for a few things in town, where the locals love locals and hate “weekenders”. I can understand that.

The last 2 chapters you will need peace & quiet along with a soft surface to throw the kindle on.

As a New Yorker I really loved the descriptions of NYC and Long Island. Sort of made me feel at home.

THE BET by J. Beck and C. Hallman #Contemporary #Romance @CassyHallman @AuthorJLBeck @InkSlingerPR @JessicaE_PR @NazareaAndrews

Today we have a sales blitz for THE BET by J. Beck & C. Hallman! Check it out and be sure to grab your copy today!

Title: THE BET

Author: J. Beck & C. Hallman

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Bet:

“He was my best friend…” I say more to myself than her.

“Yeah, so was I but you seem to have forgotten that part of your life.”

The bet was simple.

You draw a name from the hat.

That’s the girl you have to seduce.

The girl you have to make fall head over heels in love with you.

It wasn’t hard for me to do, in fact it was something I did all the time. I was known for breaking hearts. Sex was just that, sex. And it didn’t take me very long to get a woman on her back.

And then I drew her name: Jules Peterson.

My former best friend. My first kiss. My first love. She shattered my heart into a million pieces three years ago. She left me right when I needed her most.

And as fate who have it, she had entered my life once again, at almost the perfect time.

She was a transfer, fresh meat, and she had just put a target on her back. It was my turn to make her pay. It was my turn to break her heart.

Holding onto that hate, that anger, that f*cking heartbreak. It does something to you. It breaks you, and it broke me, it tainted me, just like I would do to Jules.

She used to be my everything, but now she was nothing but The Bet.

**The Bet is book one in the North Woods University series. It is a full length, standalone, novel. It contains adult themes, and content not suitable for all readers. It is NOT a young adult novel.**

Exclusive Excerpt:

My heart is racing, and my breathing is shallow now that we’re face to face. He’s still angry, nothing but hate and sadness reflecting in his eyes. It’s then looking at him, seeing those emotions swirl that I realize I’m not mad at him. I don’t hate him for doing this.

I couldn’t, not even if I wanted to. Instead, I feel something entirely different…I feel remorse. I feel sorry that this is what he has turned into, sorry that there is no love in his life, that he’s lost the light, the kindness he once had.

Feeling a need to bring back that man, I grasp onto his shirt, grabbing a handful of the fabric, pulling him even closer while lifting up my head from the mattress. I don’t think. I simply press my lips to his and kiss him. His lips are warm, and I inhale his scent, diving headfirst into the emotions he’s pulling deep from inside me.

My mouth fuses to his, a hunger clawing at my belly. The sweet innocent kisses we shared before when we were kids is nothing compared to this kiss. This kiss holds a need, a possessiveness I want to grab onto.

Remington deepens the kiss and for a moment, I forget about how hurt we are, how angry we’ve been over losing each other. For a moment, we’re the same people we used to be using the strength of our kiss to say things neither of us ever could.

But the moment passes just as quickly as it started and within seconds, he’s pulling away, his lips swollen, his chest heaving. I catch a flicker of confusion that mirrors my own in his eyes before he jumps off the bed, immediately turning his back to me. I can hear him fastening his pants back up. I’m shocked, my thoughts disheveled, but one thing sticks out in my mind. I don’t want what we just shared to end already.

“What are you doing?” I ask, my voice weak. I don’t want him to go, I don’t want him to run away from me, not after I’ve caught a glimpse of the boy I once knew. I stare at his broad shoulders, his muscles rippling beneath his shirt, his body full of tension.

He wasn’t expecting the kiss, or my reaction to him and maybe that’s what he needs, to be shocked. I don’t really know, but I can’t let go of what happened. I’m waiting for an answer, but it never comes, and though I’m not surprised, I am hurt.

“Don’t go!” I order, but he’s already out the door, slamming it closed shut behind him, leaving me sitting on the bed naked from the waist down with nothing but the memory of his lips on mine. What did we just do? When I feel like my legs are steady enough to hold my weight, I slide off the bed and pick up my discarded clothes. Just as I’m pulling my panties up, the door flies open again.

Cally stands in the doorway her mouth gaping open, betrayal and hurt in her now cold gaze. “You knew I liked him! How could you do this to me? I thought you were my friend.”

“It’s not like that, Cally.” And it’s not. She wouldn’t understand that though. No one would. No one knows of the past we share.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Mortification kept Natalie’s gaze on the string of four condom packages lying on the counter between her and Rome. The printed words “Do Me” glittered and flashed on them like neon signs, mocking her clumsiness.

Heat flamed in her cheeks. “Oops. That was an accident.” She’d just meant to take out cash to pay for her drink.

But the amusement in Rome’s golden-brown eyes expressed exactly what he thought. Yeah, right, the condoms just magically flew out of your purse.

More heat surged into Natalie’s face. But they really had. Determined to salvage some of her pride in failing the flirting game, she made a grab for the condoms, but he did, too. As he slid them from the counter, his fingers brushed hers. A rush like the kind that came from heady, high-proof alcohol almost threw her off-balance.

“Uh-uh.” He grinned, and a slight dimple sunk in below a semi-circle shaped scar on his right cheek. “I’m not giving these up. They’re the best tip I’ve gotten all night.”

“They’re not your tip.”

“Could have fooled me.” He stuffed them into the front pocket of his jeans.

Her gaze riveted on the slight bulge to the left of his zipper. “They’re my property.”

“Looks like they’re mine now.”

Mine. His husky possessive tone conjured up images of him pinning her up against the wall as he made good use of one of the “Do Me” condoms, doing her.

“Excuse me,” a woman farther down called out. “Can we get some service? The show’s about to start.”

Rome’s attention remained on Natalie. “Hold on. I’ll be back.”

She held out the money. “But I need to pay.”

“You will.” Rome’s mouth lifted with a faint lopsided smile before he turned away.

His self-assuredness made Natalie’s heart flutter. She was all into compensating for whatever transgressions he accused her of. Was it wrong for her to strip off her clothes, lay on the bar, and give herself to him as payment? Yeah, it was definitely inappropriate, no matter how much the thought of doing it turned her on.

The woman Rome served at the bar smiled coyly up at him and brushed her fingers over his forearm.

As his deep chuckle floated over the woman’s laughter, Natalie suppressed an eye roll. And a tinge of envy. Obviously, she wasn’t the only one willing to be his sexual sacrifice. So what? Like she cared if some bottle-blonde flirted with him. Technically, she’d caught his attention first. Yes, things had gotten a little messy in the process, but she’d still landed him. Experiment over. Time to go. Cori and Alexa were probably wondering where she’d run off to.

As she went to put her money down and leave, Rome opened a mini fridge and grabbed a bottle of champagne. He stripped off the foil covering, deftly loosened the wire cage, then draped a towel over the bottle. As he pointed it away from the crowd, he twisted the bottom of it, and a muffled pop reverberated. Rome glanced over at her and winked.

Seriously. Did he think opening that bottle would impress her? But as much as she tried, she couldn’t stop a laugh or tear her gaze away from him as he served champagne to customers at the bar.

Natalie put her purse on the counter. Staying until he came back to her was purely about principle. No way in hell was she leaving her party favors behind so he could use them on some other woman later on. He had her “Do Me” condoms, and she wanted them back.

Minutes later, Rome returned to her with a cocktail glass filled with ice, amber liquid, and topped with a maraschino cherry. He set it in front of her.

“Sorry. I’m all out of condoms to pay for my drinks.”

He nudged the glass closer. “This one’s on the house. Try it. I think you’ll like it.”

She would, huh? No one read her that easily, but he had made the effort. Natalie took a drink, and the bite of alcohol mingled nicely with a hint of sweet. “Not bad. What’s it called?”

“A Do Me Slowly.”

The low tone of his voice made her tingle. “If this is some kind of ploy to change my mind about getting my condoms back, it won’t work. I have plans for using them.”

Lust sparked in Rome’s eyes, mesmerizing her to the point where she failed to realize his mouth was suddenly just inches away.

“So, you still think they’re yours?” As he leaned in farther, his hair-roughened cheek brushed hers, and her knees grew weak. “That’s definitely something we need to talk about.”

Title: Choose Me: An Opposites Attract Romance
Series: All I Want Series #1

The wrong side of the law never felt so good.
He’s the sexy confident cop – and impossible to resist.
But he sees things in black and white.
And we work on opposites of the law.
They said we’d never work.

So does our relationship.
Until everything implodes.
And he’s forced to decide between his dream job and love.
All I want is for him to choose me.

“Still bitter, Ms. Lawyer?” Luke asked, pulling out a chair from our table and sat down.
“I was hoping for some excitement. I’m tired of all the plea deals,” I said.
He’d changed since work because now he wore a faded pair of jeans and a black fitted T-shirt that did everything for his muscled chest. My eyes traveled down to his thighs, which filled out his well-worn jeans. He had spread his legs in that confident sprawl that men used when relaxed. He leaned back and placed his hands behind his head, giving me a long considering look. The position caused his biceps to flex, which I couldn’t help but admire.
“Well, when you’re on the wrong side of the law, the wins are few and far between.” His mouth twitched with amusement.
“Oh, I’m on the wrong side of the law now, am I?” I responded. I was beginning to enjoy these interactions with Luke. I glanced over at Ashley, who mouthed, “What is happening right now?”

Title: Be With Me: A Friends to Lovers Romance
Series: All I Want Series #2
She’s done being friends
Jack’s the hot protective firefighter and my friend.
He came home to save his dad’s marina.
But someone is determined to close the marina for good.
When Jack stops by my bakery, I can’t help but notice he’s filled out since high school and I can’t resist his boyish grin.
I don’t want to be his friend anymore.
But his job is temporary and everyone always leaves.
All I want is for him be with me.

My eyes traveled around the room until I saw Jack leaning against the counter by the coffee machine in his department-issued navy-blue shirt, blue cargo pants, and boots. I flushed to find his eyes on mine. I couldn’t get the feel of his hands or lips out of my head. He made no move to grab a donut, so I asked, “Not hungry this morning?”
“Oh, I’m always hungry.” His eyes were steady on mine as he took a sip of coffee.
After the dream I had, I couldn’t help but take that comment literally. “You should eat an apple cider donut before they’re gone.” My heart pounding. I turned to grab a plate to hide my flushed face, but Jack grabbed my hand pulling me back. “Don’t worry about it, I can get it myself,” he said.
The movement knocked me off balance and I fell back onto his hard chest. His arm came around my middle to steady me. “Whoa there,” he whispered into my ear, as his body curled around mine. “I said I could get it myself. You’ve been on your feet all morning. Why don’t you sit down and rest?”
I heard the guys joking around me, but couldn’t follow their conversation. The room seemed to melt away and all I could think about was turning in Jack’s arms and kissing him.
“Samantha?” Jack’s voice caressed my ear again.
“Yeah?” I asked, breathing in the smell of coffee, and leaning my head back a little to look up at him. His eyes crinkled in amusement and his lips tilted up into a smile.
“Are you going to sit down?”
His chest was warm on my back, and my hands instinctively gripped his bare forearms, which wrapped around my waist. I wanted to sink back into him even more, but I reluctantly moved out of his hold, immediately feeling the loss of warmth.

Title: Burn For Me: An Enemies to Lovers Romance
Series: All I Want Series
Release Date: August 19, 2019
He’s gorgeous, charming, and irresistible – and he knows it.
We’re in competition for the same job and nothing will stand in my way.
Not his sparkling blue eyes, cocky smirk, or those dimples.
Too bad he didn’t get the message.
He says I’m a challenge he can’t resist.
And I’m playing with fire.
All I want is for him to burn for me.

“Why?” My voice softened. In all the time I’d known Logan, he was light-hearted and fun. This was the first real emotion I’d seen from him and I wanted to know more. “Why shouldn’t I work for your dad, Logan?” A current sizzled between us and his eyes darkened.
He leaned down until his mouth was by my ear. “You’re playing with fire.”
The feel of his breath across the shell of my ear made me shiver. I wasn’t sure if he meant because I’d asked about his dad or our sudden proximity. Did he feel the pull between us? Being this close to him, feeling the warmth of his body, I wanted to play with fire. I unconsciously leaned closer to his body and imagined his hand moving higher to my neck, cupping my head as he tilted me the way he wanted—.
“Hey! I hear congratulations are in order. Sawyer said you got the job,” Luke said as I guiltily jumped back from Logan.

What happens now that I’ve turned into one of them? Who’s gonna shield her from the way I was made, from my little white lies and from what I’m about to become?

My game plan sounds simple: Pitch my way into the Major League draft and stay out of Ashley Foster’s pants. That first part may be statistically difficult.

The second feels damn near impossible.

ASHLEY

From the moment we met, I knew he was trouble.

The kind my mother sent me to find.

The type that ruins you for any other brand.

When we were young kids, Didn’t know what to call the frogs and butterflies that danced in my belly whenever Brayden came near. Now I know they have a name.

Those three little words that could heal or destroy him.

Before Brayden, my life was normal. And then it wasn’t. It couldn’t be. Ever again.

How was I to know that stealing his seat would change all our lives?

Anger and forgiveness share two halves of the same coin.

Our story might make you choose sides.

About Harlow Cole

Harlow Cole is a former journalism student, turned techie, turned mother, who finally decided at age forty-plus what she wants to be if she ever she grows up. Her writing journey first began in sixth grade, when she and her best friend penned boy band fanfiction in an old spiral notebook. Harlow is a connoisseur of peanut M&Ms, brand-new school supplies and angst-filled love stories that always end happy. At fifteen, she met her first love. They’ve now been married for twenty years. They reside in suburban Washington, DC, where Harlow moonlights as a taxi driver for their farting beagle and teenage twins. Interference and Stealing Home are her debut novels.

The Rift Between Us by Rebecca Marsh #Review

This book was meaningful.  The set up is the family dinner. Somehow the sisters just dont get each other as adults. Sort of sad, but it happens a lot. The fact that Ashley, Maria and Lauren just don’t get along anymore isn’t shocking, when you see how their paths differ. It seemed like they all had secrets. The author doesn’t play one against the other, so there is no direct conflict, just 3 women all stuck in their ways. Their father probably spent a year planning and paying for his postmortem follies. He did so much to make sure that his warning came true.  This part is the meaningful part for me. He made them need each other. He decided what would happen when he left the physical earth, leaving the girls as his puppets. Imagine spending 2 weeks in the close confines of this lake house….this is the book!
