A Sojourn in Hell by Roberta Goodman @RobertaGoodman #newrelease

A Sojourn in Hell

A Sojourn in Hell focuses on the tragic romance of a young woman. Losing the love of her life in combination with a dysfunctional upbringing help to shape the subsequent decisions she makes.
It’s a multigenerational tale spanning almost eighty years. From the Great Depression through WWII and beyond, the reader is witness to the changes one woman’s life undergoes as she becomes a wife, mother, and grandmother as well as the trials and tribulations her own children end up going through. Alcoholism, untimely deaths, physical and mental abuse, adultery, and life-long regrets abound in this heartbreaking character study of human emotions.
A Sojourn in Hell was the first manuscript I wrote back in 2009. The greater part of last year I revised it to be a much deeper, thought-provoking read! I thoroughly believe no one’s life is supposed to be happy all the time, but I don’t believe anyone should use “crutches” such as alcohol to deal with sorrow or stress.
Unfortunately, there are millions of dysfunctional families all over the world that are headed by individuals dissatisfied by life for whatever reason. These individuals take out their frustrations on the children they chose to bring into the world. By examining one such situation, I hope readers will learn there are always ramifications when unhealthy behaviors and attitudes are involved. It creates baggage that will have to be hauled around for the rest of someone’s life.

The search for contentment has been a very long journey I’ve taken for most of my life. Sometimes I feel like giving up my dreams, but then I remember they make me who I am and I can never give up.
All of my perseverance seems to be paying off. My debut novel is available in e-Book format and paperback and I couldn’t be happier if I tried. Writing is the only thing I do really well and now that I’ve been given a chance to get my work out there, I want to take full advantage of it. Gaining acceptance on a large scale is not an easy thing to do, but I’m hoping I’m able to accomplish this goal and entertain readers at the same time.

Chasing Justice (Piper Anderson #1) by Danielle Stewart #spotlight #newrelease @DStewartauthor

Danielle Chasing3_pp

Blurb:

Piper Anderson has been given a fresh start in the picturesque town of Edenville, North Carolina. But her plans of settling into a normal life are derailed when she witnesses a prominent judge in her community committing a violent assault. Running from her own past and fueled by a passion to make the judge answer for his crimes, Piper is forced to decide if she’ll play by the rules or achieve justice in her own way.

Complicating things further, Piper finds herself fighting a powerful attraction to rookie cop, Bobby Wright. Although she’s increasingly enamored with Bobby, his staunch belief in the justice system is in stark contrast to her own. She may not share his opinions about the effectiveness of the law, but she certainly can’t deny how safe she feels when she’s in his arms or how every kiss leaves her desperate for more.

For Piper, the idea of finally living an ordinary life with a man to love is tempting. However, fate keeps placing the judge, quite literally, in her path. Will she decide the only way to win is to be as wicked as the judge, but with righteous intentions? And more importantly, will Bobby choose to let her go, or follow her as she crosses the line and takes justice into her own hands?

***Cutting Ties Book Two of the Piper Anderson Series will be out July 22, 2013.***

 Meet Roberta Goodman

I was just going about my usual twiiterific day and met Roberta. She is the most blogger friendly author I know. We had a few back and forth tweets and I always try to re-tweet for followers and there she was. She tweeted that people should really consider following me. I was doing a little dance!

Then as usual I went on to re tweet a bunch of her tweets. Well guess what? She did this “consider following” to other bloggers and other authors. What love is that. So I was sneaky and tried to say:

Nope she kept tweeting and then I says how about your visit my blog. Ha so I do get the last word nah nah I win! Now I hope to repay all she does and show her some BIG blogger love. I can do big!

Review

After reading and enjoying all of her other books, I am a huge fan of Bethany Lopez. I love her style of writing. The fact that her books are steamy but never ever over the top is perfect. The characters in this one were real and they are a reminder to pay tribute to every single mother you know. Sam was so focused and on track after her first year of going overboard at college. Then bam she gets pregnant. There was never a debate for her, she was going to be a mom and nothing else mattered. Several time the author makes reference to the support system. Her parent were happy and supportive. Never once making her doubt her choice, even though I think there was one, being a Mom.

So being careful to shield her daughter and herself she struggled to be perfect. She never let anything stand in her way. I admired the way she was written with strength and conviction.

I loved her daughter Karrie and the baby talk dialogue. Also her neighbor and best friend Molly and her husband Thomas were the ultimate friends. They went totally overboard for Sam whenever she needed them, they were there. Then of course Judd. Who couldn’t love him? He took such good care of his father and when confronted with a serious issue, he stepped up to another plate and handled things. He was a baseball player, but caution he was not the typical kind. He played it and liked it, but it didn’t rule his life. The message was there for Judd and his character to enjoy the sport and not let it consume him.

Then of course there was a BIG HUGE TREMENDOUS reveal. Holy …. it was great!! I never saw it coming.

smiles you-rock

There is a romance and a message about support and family that makes this a must read. As always I am a fan and this was too short. I guess I read through it super fast again.
