Slag by Joyce V Harrison #debut #newrelease @Jump4JoJo

Book Description

Publication Date: July 19, 2013

In 1970, Anna Sorenson must make a decision that could drastically change her life as she journeys to the mining town in Northern Canada that she left fifteen years before, vowing never to return. She hopes to find answers in her past for the dilemma she now faces by revisiting events from her last year in high school. In that winter of 1955, Anna struggles to free herself from the tyranny of her mother and to resolve her conflicted feelings about a boy whose Cree Indian blood makes him off limits in her circle. As her dysfunctional family heads into crisis, so does the town: a union conflict turns ugly, the hockey team battles for the championship, and bitter cold weather delivers an unforeseen disaster. “Slag” paints a gritty portrait of life in the Far North and offers a glimpse into the Fifties generation when rock and roll arrived and the strict social fabric began to unravel.

Just add Spice by Carol E Wyer @carolewyer #newrelease

Blurb:

Dawn Ellis needs to escape from her painfully dull existence. Her unemployed husband spends all day complaining about life, moping around, or fixing lawnmowers on her kitchen table. The local writing class proves to be an adequate distraction with its eccentric collection of wannabe authors and, of course, the enigmatic Jason, who soon shows a romantic interest in her.

Dawn pours her inner frustrations into her first novel about the extraordinary exploits of Cinnamon Knight, an avenging angel — a woman who doesn’t believe in following the rules. Cinnamon is ruthless and wanton, inflicting suffering on any man who warrants it. Little does Dawn realize that soon the line between reality and fiction will blur. Her own life will be transformed, and those close to her will pay the price. Find out what happens in Just Add Spice by best-selling author Carol E Wyer.

Looking for La La

Looking for La La

In a recent survey 65% of mothers admitted feeling undervalued, over-criticized and constantly tired.

Cathy is no exception. Her dull, uneventful days as a stay at home, mother of two, are radically transformed however with the arrival of a heavily lipsticked postcard addressed to husband, Declan. Who is the mysterious La La? Could Declan really be having an affair? And is Cathy actually being stalked?

Whatever – it will definitely prove riveting gossip for the Tuesday Twice Monthlies, Cathy’s ‘Mothers Restaurant Research’ group where scandal flows as recklessly as the wine. But what starts as a light-hearted investigation with best friend Raz, soon turns into something much more sinister.

With a possible murderer on the scene, a sexy admirer igniting long-forgotten sparks, and all her friends hiding secrets, it’s not only Cathy’s marriage that’s in jeopardy. Add in the scheming antics of Declan’s new assistant, the stress of organizing the school Save The Toilet’s dance and the stage is set for a dangerous showdown and some very unsettling, possibly deadly, revelations.

About Elizabeth Loraine:

I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years.

After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series since I was a child, I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well….it wasn’t as easy as I thought, but I stuck to it, and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have six books in the series and am about to release book two of my new series Phantom Lives.  My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, and do it right. I believe that, and live that every day.

I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been, what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more, so Royal Blood Chronicles was born!  As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop. I hope you enjoy them.

The Story of Sassy Sweetwater by Vera Jane Cook @teddyrose1

So, this is a really good book that took me away from other types. I loved it! I enjoyed the voices speaking in a Southern accent in my head. The characters were rich, well named and meaningful. It is hard to pinpoint the reasons why I really liked it but I know one was the timeline. I liked the era of the late 60’s and the references.

As for characters it is hard to say which is a favorite of mine. I liked Uncle Liam and Grandma Edna. Grandma was so much like one of my Grandmothers it was so funny to see the similarities. As for Uncle Liam was one of the characters that that you hated so much but, loved how the author wrote him. I think the same thing goes for Sassy’s Mother. When you get involved and start really thinking about the plot and the minor characters, that is when you are really engaged. I really did need this type of book thrown into my usual mix.

The message you can take away is family, love, secrets, friendships and secrets. Yes secrets, every family has one or a thousand. All which molded Sassy into the adult version of her. Nobody is perfect and we learn by example. So Sassy learned about love but some pretty awful characters.

My Impression on First Kiss by Ann M. Frohoff

This book was wonderful I enjoyed reading it. This book was given to me by Reading Renee check out her page ~> https://readingrenee.com/ (There are always some wonderful giveaways running).

First Kiss is a great read it picks up very quickly and the characters face real life problems which is something I really liked.

It is about Aly whom is 14 and is well on her way to high school and becoming a freshman (fun). She soon finds herself spending a lot of time with her HOT next door neighbor, Jake who is a bit older and in a band. At first it is easy, she sneaks out to meet him, and hang out but she soon realizes she feels much more than just friendship for him. Aly confides in him and he reacts by telling her he feels the same way. The two begin to date despite the age difference Aly 14 and Jake 17. However Aly’s family is very strict so she doesn’t want her siblings to find out let alone her strict dad, but that is the least of her worries there is also Rachel a friend of Jake’s who clearly has feelings for Jake and isn’t willing to hand him over to Aly. Aly struggles to keep up with everything hiding her relationship from her family, steering clear from Rachel, going out with Jake, volleyball practice and whatever else life decides to throw at her.

I would have to give it five wonderful stars
