Four Shy Girls, Four Big Dreams, One Awesome City:

Book 1 in the Shy-Town Girls Quartet Series

 Shy-Town Girls
This is one of the a few ARC’s I got back in December and now that it is out, so is the review. This will be part of a four book series, each book will be written in one of the characters point of view. This book was a very refreshing change. The beginning is centered on Roberta Bertucci, aka Bobbie a modeling agent. She is in a long term relationship with Charlie, a model she met through work. Charlie is somewhat of a character. Charlie thinks that his looks will do all the work and he can just act like an arrogant fool. So Bobbie decides she is moving out and her old college friend Meryl is providing a new home and a change in lifestyle for her.

We get to know four very different woman who are at different stages of their lives, but manage to become woven tight. At 24 Bobbie is on her own and taking a chance. The other room mates Ella, Ivy and the landlady Barbara provide just the therapy she needs. When she is down, she now has wisdom to pick her up from Barbara. Barbara has tales to tell! Ivy and Ella are like sisters and they welcome Bobbie into the fold.

She grows, learns, and loves in a way she never thought possible. The journey for all of these girls is filled with little life lessons and I know there is something for everyone. While I like my share of details, this book doesn’t provide that. It is refreshing, clean, and something you can recommend to a friend. I think that Bobbie, Meryl, Barbara, Ivy, and Ella, are worth exploring. I loved the brownstone setting and  the city of Chicago as a backdrop.

I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I give it 5 stars

The WordPress stats team have put together the annual report for gtylermills.com. I thought it would be just a bunch of boring numbers and categories, but kudos to them for making it all interesting.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 1,900 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 3 years to get that many views.

It’s no surprise that my top posts were Life After the Comma  and LGM, 10/15. These two posts are about my family.  Throughout the year, those have been the type of posts that are best received. I’m happy to see that because these are by far the posts I enjoy making the most. I think it’s because it’s something everyone can relate to. Whether you have one of your own or have…

The Kiss After Midnight by Marvin Amazon @marvazon

Product Details

Found a fabulous author! Also found he has written a few pretty fab books too! I have read The Kiss after Midnight and I was blown away. When you find a thrilling suspense novel that rival the Patterson’s and Wood’s of the world you gotta shout it out!  This was one of those books. The only bad part if the cliffhanger. THEN I find out there is another book so this will be a series.

It is a VERY intricate plot with a few sub stories that will keep you guessing throughout the book. The handsome Tobias Mead is rich, and very charming. He is known in the NYC club scene as a player. The night he meets Penelope, everything in his life changes and within one night she is all that he sees. Their attraction is really intense and Tobias is shocked by the feelings he has for her right away. They share a passionate evening and then Penelope is found murdered. So many things flash in Tobias’ head and it sends him on the fight of his life. He is the last one to see her alive, so naturally he is a person if interest, the accused, the guilty one, and the police make that clear right away. It turns out that Penelope has a boyfriend who happens to be involved in some serious dealings. Antonio Cabrera is bad news and his family wants revenge. Central American drug cartels are forcing Tobias to run.

The entire book has you gasping and wondering what is going to happen next. Family loyalties are put to the test and so are many lives and friendships. Last week I did a question and answer that is amazing!!! Stay tuned.
