It Ain’t Easy Being Jazzy by Quanie Miller @QuanieMiller #review @ladyreaderstuff

If you love chick lit this is for you. I can say this is a romantic comedy at a high point. Truly funny Jazzy wants to reunite with Curtis, who is an ex boyfriend. It is sort of funny how I got totally excited when Curtis tells her he had news”that he needs to share. I was like oh my maybe they will get back together. NO and I am not giving spoilers but he is with her cousin Mercedes who she hates, and I in turn hate too!

The funniest part was when Jazzy meets Reggie and figures he can be her escape. If she had Reggie with her then Mercedes and her engagement wont hurt too much. She thinks maybe this big old family dinner may even be pleasant with Reggie as a distraction. It makes everyone think she is taken. It seems like a great plan in the beginning. Right away things happen causing me to really laugh too hard!

Take a trip with this hysterical family. I loved Jazzy, her family is crazy and I can totally see this as a series. Authors like Quanie Miller provide us with a true escape. Sometimes books like Jazzy come along and you should tell a friend! READ IT Things are really not “easy” being Jazzy!

Bio:

Dima Zales is a full-time science fiction and fantasy author residing in Palm Coast, Florida. Prior to becoming a writer, he worked in the software development industry in New York as both a programmer and an executive. From high-frequency trading software for big banks to mobile apps for popular magazines, Dima has done it all. In 2013, he left the software industry in order to concentrate on his writing career.

Dima holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from NYU and a dual undergraduate degree in Computer Science / Psychology from Brooklyn College. He also has a number of hobbies and interests, the most unusual of which might be professional-level mentalism. He simulates mind-reading on stage and close-up, and has done shows for corporations, wealthy individuals, and friends.

He is also into healthy eating and fitness, so he should live long enough to finish all the book projects he starts. In fact, he very much hopes to catch the technological advancements that might let him live forever (biologically or otherwise). Aside from that, he also enjoys learning about current and future technologies that might enhance our lives, including artificial intelligence, biofeedback, brain-to-computer interfaces, and brain-enhancing implants.

In addition to his own works, Dima has collaborated on a number of romance novels with his wife, Anna Zaires. The Krinar Chronicles, an erotic science fiction series, has been a bestseller in its categories and has been recognized by the likes of Marie Claire and Woman’s Day. If you like erotic romance with a unique plot, please feel free to check it out, especially since the first book in the series (Close Liaisons) is available for free everywhere. Keep in mind, though, Dima Zales’s books are going to be much more PG 13 . . . at least that’s the plan for now.

Anna Zaires is the love of his life and a huge inspiration in every aspect of his writing. She definitely adds her magic touch to anything Dima creates, and the books would not be the same without her. I was impressed with how this plot was set up. There was the main story which was a baseball player, J.D. Shaw. My my my, JD Shaw had a reputation of being a stud and a great ball player. No matter what he did, who he did, or what he drank, the guy was up at 5am for practice. His life was the New York Federals and nursing his passion for woman and booze. The day he signs a contract he injures his shoulder. He is in a bad spot and plays through the pain. I can say with the help of booze and pain pills.

hottie josh willinham

A few predicaments get JD and Catrina Hiett who is a party girl and daughter of a big figure involving the Federals. All she wants is status and to spend JD’s cash. So when Halee McCarthy shows up at a fundraiser and makes his jaw drop, well the secret about them escapes. They were together and she caught him in bed with Catrina. Yikes the drama. I think the best was the unusual plot device for getting JD the girl, the contract, the respect, wait no spoilers it is a journey you wont want to miss.

What kept me going was the plot and of course the drama. It is very well written with a lot of information about contracts, baseball players, scandal and love. What makes him tick is the fact that he wants the farm where he grew up. So he play with pain for a dream. I say read it and enjoy! When you are done read more from this talented author.

I began writing books when I was in first grade and my teacher, Rita Thrasher, recognized my gift early on. In fact, she pulled me out of class and gave me the time and space to write all the books I wanted to write. Her motive was to keep me interested in school work that didn’t challenge me. But that early recognition of my talent and my passion to write left a lasting impression. Later, when I handed in my final exam in an English literature college course, my professor looked at me and said, “Someday we’ll be reading you.” I wonder if that professor knew what a boost that was to a young woman struggling between the choice of a mainstream occupation and to follow her dreams of becoming a writer. My life has been filled with personal struggle beside so many other strong women who can say the same. We seem to always rise above. My writing allows me to capture the spirit of strong women and share that undying determination with my readers so they can be inspired to deal with life’s challenges with grit and fortitude. That’s my joy- that I might influence my readers to be all they can be, follow the example of the strong female characters in my novels, and live the life of their dreams.

Crossing Paths by Melanie Stinnett #review @melstinnett_ @RGBookBlog

The crossing paths of friendship, family, love, and loss are often complicated. From the first page I was simply in love with this book! The style, dialogue and total believeability, it is not a word is it? Well it should be. I loved how believe the plot was. Talk about a mini six degrees of separation!
The main character for the first half are June Deckert and Caroline Smith. Opposites, but not that it matters. They have been best friends since college and now live together. The entire premise is just one secret, that is shared by four people. I want to say who the other two beside Caroline and June are, but YOU MUST read the book.
June finds herself falling for a man…
Caroline finds herself falling for a man…
Fate enters the room ……..
A chorus of It’s a Small World is heard……
Holy ******
So clever and unique in the plot! I will say it was not your typical chick lit, romance, new adult, contemporary anything. It was GREAT! Find out what happens when two best friends and several others keep a secret. OK so some are no intentionally keeping the secret, they are just left in the dark. It is a very emotional and caring story. There really is nothing lacking here. If you want a fresh new take on contemporary get this book. You wont be disappointed.

The crossing paths of friendship, family, love, and loss are often complicated.
June Deckert and Caroline Smith sparked a friendship in college that carried them through graduation. Although they are complete opposites in every way, they have spent the last four years inseparable.
That is, until now.
June finds herself falling for a man who seems unattainable. As she works side by side with him on a new media campaign, their feelings for each other come alive. But when his actions start to speak louder than words, she wonders if she’s missing something.
Meanwhile, Caroline is fighting against her feelings for a recent acquaintance, and she decides to keep her new love interest a secret from June. Overwhelmed by these new emotions, her moods change swiftly, swinging up and down like a yo-yo.
While June and Caroline try to maneuver their way through new relationships, Caroline starts lying to June to protect her from a truth that threatens to break her heart and tear them apart.
In the end, Caroline’s deceit will test their friendship, and June will have to decide if her chance at love is worth putting her heart on the line.

A Higher Voice by Sheri Wren Haymore #review

I thought A Higher Voice was a good read. It was pretty enjoyable and I liked Britt’s story. Aside from the underlying messages about Dena and her beliefs I found her likeable. I was really engaged in Britt’s storyline. It was a different type of book with a star who was not typical. It was hard to imagine Britt falling for Dena and how they stayed together was a positive aspect. He really evolved and learned a lot about himself. Very refreshing.

There was a lot to like about this book and I would say if you are in the mood for something, clean and refreshing give this one a try. I liked that the love story between Britt & Dena started right away and lasted throughout the book. You can relate to Dena and her need to protect her daughter. It was showing the faith Dena had in a different way along with her trust in Britt’s feeling for her.

The author added a little sub plot with the music, production and concerts concerning Britt.

I am perfectly flawed and I believe the best stories aren’t about perfect people. The best stories are about what happens when you back a flawed person into a corner.

I like to unravel a character until I get at the story he really wants to tell me. The story might leave us a little grimy in the telling, but we’ll find out just what he’ll risk everything for. We’ll find out whether he’s willing to let the story transform him.

Because I believe God’s story is evident even in the grimiest of tales.

As for me, I’m as flawed as anyone. I can scruff along my daily walk not much different than the next person. And yet…and yet, by God’s grace, I stand perfect. Amazing truth.

I am a graduate of High Point University, I live near Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and my husband and I own a couple small businesses.

Ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right?

Well, every day is like that for Jessalyn Bell. Falling victim to a streak of extremely bad luck, Jessalyn can rarely go a day without encountering a disastrous occurrence. There’s also the fact that every single date with her boyfriend Kyle goes wrong.

Unpleasant surprises wait around every corner, but through her various misadventures Jessalyn comes to realize that every cloud has a silver lining, that friendships can develop in the most unlikely places, and that love and romance are every bit as spontaneous and unpredictable as a bout of bad luck.

Where I’m From:
I was an Air Force brat growing up, so I’m not really sure where I’m from. I was born in California, then moved to Germany, then moved to New Mexico. New Mexico is usually where I say I’m from, since that’s where I lived the longest. Alamogordo is my hometown. You’ve probably never heard of it. Most people haven’t. And those who have wish that they hadn’t.

Here’s a photo of Alamogordo, New Mexico from Wikipedia. It pretty much sums it up.

Yeah, there’s nothing there. Except for a water tower and tumbleweeds. And dirt. Lots of it.

What I Do:
By day, I work as an editor and graphic designer for a magazine publishing company. By night, I write novels just for kicks.

When and Why I Decided to Become a Writer:
I think I was ten years old the first time I thought about becoming a published author. At the time, I was completely obsessed with R.L. Stine, The Boxcar Children, and Sweet Valley High. When I wasn’t reading those books, I was combing the shelves at the school library for any and every fiction book written for children. I quickly became obsessed with creative writing, and began writing short stories. A couple of them won school awards and my head swelled to the size of the Goodyear Blimp. Then I entered the same stories in a citywide competition, and when they lost I came crashing back down to reality. My artwork, meanwhile, went on to win city and statewide awards. Art became my main focus, but I never stopped writing.

Hobbies and Interests:
I like to bake, and cook, but I don’t do much of either lately because I have two babies in diapers. Being a mommy is awesome, and it takes a lot of time. I’ve always been a big movie-goer, and I’m usually watching an action flick or slapstick comedy of some sort. As much as I love to write, I also have a passion for graphic design. It’s what I went to school for, and what pays the bills.

Note: This novel contains mature content, sexuality, and adult language.

No One Cared by Author Chemistry @Chemistry2 @ladyreaderstuff #review

Review of No One Cared:
“No One Cared” the new novella by author Chemistry, to be in released October 2013. This read brings you heartbreak, anger, rage and betrayal. Yes it has all of that. This is a novella, which means it is all power packed with emotions. I cant tell you how touching the story was. I would love to see this in a full length novel. It would without a doubt be a NYT bestseller.
When the book open it is on page 2 that the darkness starts. Some of it is tough to read and comprehend as a parent. I fell in love with Zaria from page one as an eight year old. So as the reader, it runs the gamut of emotions from rage to love. This novella tackles the issues of abuse and teen bullying.
I think everyone should read this and maybe it will bring awareness to the teen high school bullies. That part of the story was so hard to read.

Lying to Meet You by Anna Garner @LibbyMercer1 #review

18211375

Review:

Chick lit lovers unite once again! The premise is so good; lie and say you are seeing someone and then they (men) will flock to you. I know I heard somewhere that a man wearing a wedding ring is more appealing. I don’t know where I heard it or if it is true. Either way a very interesting idea!

For Chloe to own a store and be totally focused on fashion is typical of the author. She writes a fashion maven with ease, this one included.

When I read characters such as Chloe and Ethan I truly appreciate the author. She made them so lovable.  The pretend to date each other theme used with them just made me enjoy it more. Sometimes the one you should be with is right there, sometimes fate jumps in, either way they worked for me. There are a few along the way that peak my interest, but the author keeps you guessing.

Anna has also written a few great novels as Libby Mercer. Check her out and dont miss the other fabulous novels she has written.
