Excerpt #1 Prologue (adult content)

We arrive in Miami, check into our hotel, and immediately decide to check out the Miami night life.

Wearing a barely there silver, backless, halter dress and heels I was ready to dance the night away. At five foot seven inches with my heels, my legs are going on for miles tonight. I put my hair in a loose up do, frame my eyes with a smoky shadow, and add a clear lip gloss to finalize my look.

Brayden is dressed in his typical baggy jeans and t-shirt. He is six foot tall, more of a lanky build with a slight beer belly forming, which is especially noticeable when he stands next to a very toned and muscular Ryder. His dirty blonde hair and crystal blue eyes, which hold such depth they make me melt every time he looks at me. We both love to go out. We met four years ago at a bar in Charlotte while we were both celebrating another finished semester of college.

We arrive at Cameo nightclub in downtown Miami and immediately hit the dance floor. There is something about the atmosphere of a club that just takes over my senses. The bodies pressed together, each finding their own rhythm as the vibrations from the bass reverberates through the crowd.

Having Brayden up against my back side running his hands all over my body as we move to the music is enough to bring my nipples to attention rubbing against the thin scrap of fabric, otherwise known as my dress. His hands roam, as we dance, moving the back of my barely there dress over the hills of my ass, leaving me exposed. My bare backside now grinding against the erection of his jeans is delightful friction. He then places one hand upon my breast and begins to tease it, while he plunges two fingers, from the other, into my hot core. I am so turned on I don’t care who sees me. When I am almost ready to explode, he stops.

Grabbing me, he leads me to a back hallway, where he quickly pushes me up against the wall, freeing himself and pounding into me. Raw, needing passion, transfers between us as I have an earth shattering orgasm. Brayden follows right behind me. As we straighten ourselves, he smiles and whispers, “I love that you never wear panties, baby.”

 Excerpt #3 Chapter 8

Dina

By the next day, Maggie seems much better. After work I am relaxing in a bubble bath with my Jacuzzi tub jets running when my phone rings. It is Ryder.

“Hey, misterman.” I answer.

“Hello, beautiful!  It’s good to hear your voice after phone tag yesterday. What are you doing this evening?”

Well, we are on the phone and I am feeling brave so I answer in almost a whisper, “I am in the bath tub, covered in nothing but bubbles, relaxing, thinking of how I wish it were you covering me instead.”

He is quiet for a moment. I think I hear a low growl from him.

With his voice deeper than I have ever heard before, “Damn, Dina you are killing me over here. Oh how I wish I was there. I would be happy to wash your back for you.”

I smile and add, “Just my back, huh, what about my front?”

I hear him groan, “Oh baby, you don’t want to start something, you can’t finish.”

I stay quiet for just a brief moment, “Ryder, I will be glad to start and finish anything with you, anytime, anywhere. The question is am I what you really want?”

There I said it, now am I really ready for an answer?

He then shocks me to my core with his admission, “Dina, it’s been you and only you I have wanted since the first night I met you at the restaurant. Since the night we found you at the bottom of the stairs, when I beat the shit out of that bastard, I haven’t been with anyone. I have been waiting for you to get over that situation and feel comfortable and safe again.”

He pauses and sighs, but continues, “Dina, you are one of a kind special. I am far from a perfect man, I am not even a good man, but for you and because of you I want to be. I have treated women wrong in the past; I have used them, lead them on, and dumped them in some harsh ways. I have never laid a hand on a woman, but I have left some completely and unintentionally broken, and for that I am sorry.  I don’t want to lead you on or treat you wrong. I want to be your safe place, Dina. I never want to see you sad, or hurt. I want to hold you close and call you mine in all ways for always. Baby, I have messed up big time in my past and I am paying for it even now. I don’t deserve someone as strong and beautiful as you. I have tried to stay away from you, but you just draw me in. When you look at me, I feel like you can see the potential and goodness inside me. One kiss from you, is enough to make me weak in the knees. Dina, I want to see what we can make of the electricity between us.”

He sighs, “I wish I was there, I didn’t want to do this by phone.”

I take a moment because I don’t know what to say. Finally, I stammer through, “Ryder, you mean so much to me. You saved me when I was at my lowest. I want to see what we can make of us. I won’t lie, I am scared, but I trust you with my insecurities. I trust you with every part of me. My body craves your touch, Ryder; my mind craves your conversation, and my heart craves your safety. I trust you, Ryder, to help restore me.”

I hear a voice in the background, then Ryder says, “Oh baby you have just made the whole situation here so much better. I would love nothing more than to tell you exactly how I would wash every inch of your body, but I have to go, I am needed. I will call you tomorrow. I will see you as soon as I can get back home and we will make this work, Goodnight, my sunshine.” Before I can respond, he is gone.

Excerpt #2  Chapter 5

Dina

It’s another night with very little sleep, with too many hot dreams about a certain man. I decide to head to the gym early.  I arrive around 5am and immediately hit the tread climber. I put my earphones in and my iPod on loud.  Time to get lost in a good workout.

The gym is jam packed this morning, which normally feeds my insecurities, but not today. I am just consumed in my workout. An hour later, I am feeling motivated and sweaty.

My phone starts ringing, and I see its Maggie calling.  She needs a ride to work this morning.  That’s my cue; my workout is over. I step off the tread climber wiping my face with my towel. I turn around and directly hit a very hard, sweaty chest.

As I look before me, I see the waistband of black baggy basketball gym shorts, hanging low on his hips; showing a bit of that trail of dark hair that leads to pleasures of all kinds. I see this set of rock hard abs, which should be illegal to be on display.  Before I have time to take in all the tattoos along his ribs, arms, pecks, and shoulders, I hear the all too familiar voice of Ryder.

“Well, good morning Sunshine!  Tsk! Tsk!  Even at the gym you are gorgeous and brighten my day.”

He starts to walk away, but instinctively I reach out and grab his completely toned arm. This man spends some serious time at the gym perfecting his body.

“Ryder, I just want to say thank you for checking on me Sunday night. I hope I didn’t ruin your evening with the red head, by boring you with my drunken ramblings.”

He laughs, “No need to thank me, and nothing about you ever bores me. I enjoy your company, even the drunken ramblings. And, Valerie, the red head, is just a friend who needed a ride home.”

We both stand there silently for what seems like forever, when I finally stammer, “Well I appreciated the company.  So, to say thank you, how about dinner?”

Before I can stutter my way back out of the invitation, he leans over, kisses my forehead and says, “Great I will pick you up at 7pm tonight, wear jeans and boots.”

And with that he walks off, leaving me breathless; while my inner diva is doing her happy dance.

I shower and change, ready to start my Friday. I arrive at the office, only to realize I totally forgot to pick up Mags.

She gets in the car laughing at me, “Ok Dina, what gives? You are never this distracted.”

Grinning from ear to ear I give her the play by play of my morning.

She squeals in delight as she adds, “In that case, can I borrow your car for the Delany dinner party tonight since you won’t be attending with me?”

Oh my!  I totally forgot about work, “Do you need me there? I wasn’t thinking, I can cancel my plans with Ryder.”

She nudges me as she protests, “Hell no!  Girl, you will go tonight.  I have work all covered, I just need a car.  Brayden needs mine.”

I don’t question why, even though I was curious as to why Brayden isn’t driving his 1970 Dodge Charger. The day passes quickly and before I know it, Mags is pushing me out the office door and dropping me at home.

I dress in jeans, a charcoal gray V-neck shirt, and my favorite, no heel black knee high boots.  Just as I’m putting on a pair of plain diamond studded earrings, a gift from my father, I hear the distinct rumble of a Harley Davidson motorcycle approaching.

I smile at recognizing the engine sound. A few moments later, my doorbell rings, I open it to face Ryder in a pair of jeans, a snug navy blue t-shirt, and black boots.

He smiles a half smile, kisses my forehead as he says, “You look amazing.”

All I manage to stutter is, “You have a Harley Davidson Night Train?  Wow.”

He looks at the bike, then replies, “If you don’t want to ride, we can take your car. Mags said you used to drive a sportster.  So I, ummm, thought…..well anyway we can take your car.”

Without thinking, I grab him off my porch and into my living room, where I leave him as I dart through the kitchen, and into my garage. I come back to him, helmet in hand, and smiling my biggest smile.

He’s standing there as I braid my hair, “Ryder, I haven’t been on a bike since the last time I drove mine on a poker run with my dad and his friends. I would love to ride with you.  Let’s go!” He grabs my helmet and helps me lock up.

Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox #Giveaway @ashleywilcox55 #review @HDCoverTherapy

Runningecover

Review:

I must say another juicy and delicious novel by Ashley Wilcox! I am so glad the Forever series continued. I dont think we can let any of these characters go. For starter PLEASE DONT CHEAT YOURSELF. It is a series, and I dont care what other people say, you gotta read them all!

When the book starts it starts with the letter that our Kayla Reynolds wrote to Trevor. Believe me I was like she is cruel and heartless. You are with someone 3 years and leave a note. WOW I wish I could say that this was the only time I yelled at the book. You sort of know when you are yelling at page 2 this is gonna be a good one. Well I was NOT disappointed. My disclaimer is that YES I am a fan of “love at first sight” and instant chemistry. I know there are a lot of critical Carol’s out there but they would drop dead if David Gandy got into the elevator with them, so I don’t believe them. Need I remind people this is an escape, a vacation from life, a book, not the bible.

Lucky for the readers it is written in different point of views but split up. So the first part if Kayla, then Miles Blackwell and lastly Merrick. I only hope that Merrick gets a book. I also need to talk about the characters involved in each part as sub plot characters. I swear Connie, who is Miles’ sister was a hoot. The author give a little back story there and it was really fascinating. Also I will add Kayla’s sister, there is a story there, so I need more of her too.

Just to break up the angst thrown into the picture was the associate Sami who lures Kayla to the bar. OK so Tipsy Tuesday is a great thing and almost as good as Thirsty Thursday! Everyone gets together and quickly Kayla feel like she is part of the group.

I want you all to enjoy a very well thought out, fast moving book of angst! What a fantastic read! I know I am done, but of course I want more. Let’s make this a NYT best seller! Congrats Ashley on another hit.

Kayla Reynolds was chasing her dream.

Miles Blackwell took Kayla by surprise, stealing her heart as he did.

Merrick Drake … She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

When life was too much to handle, they ran.

Some may consider me a jack of all trades, but I consider myself well rounded.
I’ve waitressed, styled hair, answered phones and, most recently, worked full time as mom to my two beautiful little boys.
Then there was this book… Everyone and their brother started talking about this book series titled Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James. I didn’t really pay attention to the craze at first, since I wasn’t a big reader- okay, I didn’t read at all. But curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded it to my kindle.
I was immediately hooked. I read the whole series in three days. Yes, three books in three days.
I kept finding all these great books that I HAD to read (just ask my credit card!).
Then I started hearing voices. Voices that turned into stories; stories that were begging to get out of my head.
I started writing them down on scraps of paper. Then I transferred them to my computer. Before I knew it, Planning on Forever was born.
The voices in my head are still talking, so I’m still writing.

For the first time in her life she had someone she could relate to; someone who wouldn’t judge- who saw the person she was inside. She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

When life was too much to handle, they ran.

Teaser/Excerpt:

She let out an exasperated breath. “No. No, I gotta figure this out.” She turned to face me, legs crossed, intertwined. “I don’t know what to do, Merrick.”

I felt it in my chest. She was lost, pleading for help. I didn’t know if I was the best person to help her. I’d lived just as fucked up a life myself. From the age I could run, I did, staying at friend’s houses almost every day of the week, stopping home quick after school just to make sure my mom hadn’t overdosed and was dead on the floor. I did this almost my whole life…up until I ran here.

“I can’t really help you, babe, if I don’t know what happened,” I told her as sympathetically as I could, looking into her sad eyes. Even if I wasn’t the most qualified person to give advice, I wanted to help, but I also needed to know what happened first.

Kayla rubbed her face with her hands, keeping them over her eyes for a minute longer. She was thinking; questioning if she was ready to spill. I didn’t want to force her to do it, so I sat there quietly. I wish I could just sweep her up and run far, far away; take her away from all the bad in her life permanently, but that would mean I had to run again, and I was done running. I couldn’t do it anymore.

“I loved him.” Her voice was a whisper. She removed her hands from her face but only to look down to her crisscrossed feet. She couldn’t look at me while she told me, and I was okay with that. “I let my guard down when I knew I shouldn’t have, but I couldn’t help it.”

Cowboy Town (Down Under Cowboys #1) by Kasey Millstead @kaseymillstead

Ever since her parents passed away in a tragic car accident, Eden Cross has been living a quiet, stable and predictable life in inner Sydney – the total opposite of her carefree, relaxed, happy-go-lucky past. Her parents passing and the fact she’s an only child meant Eden was left with her best friend, Jules and Matt, her boyfriend of three years as her only family. That was until she discovered something about Matt that would turn her life upside down. Eden leaves Sydney in a hurry and begins an adventure that takes her across four Australian states before she lands in Pine Creek, Northern Territory.

Jackson Henley has lived in Pine Creek his entire life. He runs a massive cattle and cropping station with his twin brother, Jeremy, which they inherited when their parents retired. He’s had a bad experience with relationships courtesy of The Bitch – Dannika, so lately he’s preferred to play the field. That is, until he comes face to face with the stunning brunette beauty who’s behind the bar at the Cow and Calf. The problem is, she won’t tell him her name, she won’t give him the time of day, and she won’t give him a chance to prove himself.

What’s it going to take for Eden to give Jackson a chance? Does he have the patience to even bother fighting for her? How will he handle the competition?

In the end, will Jackson have what it takes to convince Eden to start living again, instead of just existing?

“Hey, gorgeous, can I get another
beer?”  I turn my attention from the
one-man show and spot Luke, the guy who was here yesterday, and he’s waving an
empty glass at me.

“Sure thing,” I reply.  I grab a glass and pull his beer, hand it to
him, take his money and return his change.

“So, Dory’s put ya to work, has she?”

“Just helping her out for tonight,” I
smile, then sweep my gaze along the bar checking that no one needs
refills.  It’s during this exercise that
I spot the man who has just walked in.
My breath gets caught in my throat as I watch him take a seat at the
bar.  I see his lips move and he’s
smiling at people but it’s too loud to hear what he’s saying.  I’m captivated.  He’s utterly gorgeous.  The epitome of Cowboy Hot.  His hair is dark and his jaw is square.  His body is built – broad across the
shoulders and narrowing slightly at his hips.
He spots someone across the bar and hands them a fully-fledged, bright
white, straight-toothed smile.  My breath
leaves me in a whoosh, and then
catches again as what has to be his twin slides onto the stool beside him.  Oh my
fucking god.

I’ve got a job to do.  I have to pull it together.  It’s not like I’ve never been in contact with
good looking guys before.  I worked in
one of Sydney’s hottest bars for four years for fuck’s sake.  I mentally slap myself across the face and
tell myself to pull it together.  Then I
walk across to where they’re sitting and set about getting their order.

“What’ll it be, boys?” I ask in my most
relaxed I’m-not-affected-by-you-at-all voice.

Hotty One unashamedly rakes his gaze over
my body.  Slowly.  So slowly, I feel my blood start to heat –
just from him looking at me.  I must be going mad.  Perhaps it’s the heat up here.  I’m not used to it all.  I really should have worn some linen shorts
instead of jeans.

“You, later,” he winks suggestively when he
finally pulls his eyes to mine.  Now,
don’t get me wrong – the wink was hot.
Fucking hot.  It was the way he
said it that turned me off.  You know
those guys that can get anyone they want?
Yeah, they’re not so bad.  It’s
the ones who can get anyone they want, and
they know it, and they show it –
that’s the turn off.  Just with that
line, Hotty One has shown me he’s a player, unfaithful, untrustworthy and most
definitely not the kind of guy I want to get involved with – in bed, or out
of.  But, as a woman, I’d rather die than
have him know how he affected me, so I tilt my head to the side, smile my
cheeky smile and say, “Not tonight, handsome. Or ever.  Drink?”

* I read fiction until I was 11 years old.  After that I read non-fiction, true crime, bio’s etc.  When my son Jovi drowned in 2011, I found I couldn’t bring myself to read non fiction anymore – it was too “real”.  Fifty Shades was dominating the media so I got myself a copy and I’m not ashamed to say I read all three of those books at least ten times each.  They allowed me to forget my reality for a little while.  Then I decided that I was going to follow my dreams and write.  I wanted to show my children that just because their brother died, didn’t mean they did or our family did.  I want them to reach for the stars and chase their dreams, and the best way to do that is to lead by example!

Book Blurb:

Orphaned at 7, with no memory of her past or the family she lost, 17 year old Skye Martin is tired of being alone and afraid. After a hard night of partying, Skye wakes up alone in an unfamiliar hotel. All she can remember is the deep voice of her rescuer and his promise: “I am safe.”

Xander has been tasked with watching Skye from afar for the past two years, in order to keep her safe from the demons that hunt her. An easy job – until a pair of red glowing eyes reveal themselves to Skye, and Xander, in a moment of weakness, is forced to break his cover to protect her.
Never good at trusting people, Skye is inexplicably drawn to Xander and the immediate bond she feels for him. However, Xander is filled with secrets and ties to her past that threaten to thrust Skye into a world she could never imagine existed…

As she begins to unravel the truth about who Xander is and the details surrounding her family, she discovers that she might just be the key to saving everything…

And, most importantly, she finds that there has always been someone by her side who would never let her fall…

Review:

GREAT book!! l loved the author’s style and attention to descriptions and details. Bravo!  Skye is a tough girl for sure. She doesn’t feel worthy of a lot. She is also very stubborn and I see her as a super hero sort of girl. She doesn’t trust Xander but she is drawn to him. When they first meet she is so cute asking what his name was Zander or Xander. I just adored her! There is a lot of wonderful descriptions, romance and the magic, WOW

happy thumbs up

No spoilers but there is a forbidden love. I loved Skye and Xander together and this is a wonderful read! Now I do think it could be a phenomenal series and I know the fan base for these two will haunt Michelle. So poke her and beg for more along with me!

About the author

michelle g miller 6975382

Having grown up in both the cold, quiet town of Topsham, Maine and the steamy, southern hospitality of Mobile, Alabama, Michele is something of a enigma.  She is an avid Yankees fan, loves New England, being outdoors and misses snow.  However she thinks southern boys are hotter, Alabama football is the only REAL football out there and sweet tea is the best thing this side of heaven and her children’s laughter!

Her family, a doting husband and three awesome  minions, have planted their roots in the middle of Michele’s two childhood homes in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Never Let You Fall is Michele’s first novel and she is beyond thrilled to have finally followed up on a dream she has held for over 20 years!  God willing there will be many many more books to follow.
