A Suitcase Mystery by Ned Stevens #review

What I liked was the World War II time period and references. The backstory of Ben and how he and his family arrive in Minnesota is well written. The way Ben is intrigued with a tunnel and actually seeing soldiers one day is what sort of starts him on this path of intrigue.
Now Ben has moved to Forks, MN with his family and has become a boxer with a promising future. Then his father and a neighbor are brutally murdered and it begins to look as if the incident in the tunnel is the focal point. The FBI becomes involved and there is blackmail and a whole lot of mystery. I say read it especially if you are Stuart Woods fans. This is much like a Stone Barrington novel. The plot and set up of the investigation is wonderful and it will keep you entertained.
As for the other characters I loved Agent Dokes and Agent Book. These are the two assigned with Edward and Karlis’ case. They provide the exact amount of FBI needed to keep the plot moving along. There is a really well set up for the plot with these two and what they uncover. All in all a must read!

Beautiful Chances by Alicia Rae @AliciaRaeAuthor #review @LiteratiAuthors

Synopsis

After losing her parents and sister in a tragic car accident, Lily distances herself from those still around her. Instead of running, Lily finds herself drawn to him. Helping her on a path to healing, Kyle stands by her side and lends her his strength.

A bond is formed, but it is tested when the unthinkable happens. Can taking a chance on love conquer all?

Review:

To start I will say I liked the Kyle character a lot! He was easy and took control over Lily and her fears. After they met it moved pretty fast in more ways than one. It was pretty steamy right away. The other aspect was the mystery sort of thrilling aspect of a stalker.

Lily is not even a full person and has suffered a loss. It is an imaginable loss and she doesn’t seek therapy and for that the book missed the mark. There is no way the psychological mark should have been glossed over. The fact that her Aunt, who is very forgiving and sees that it was an accident, doesn’t do more for Lily and her mental health was upsetting. Under no circumstances should someone be left to heal from this type of tragedy alone, with no medication, and no therapy. I think if there was a mention that her Aunt or her beloved cousins were seeking counseling to learn how to help her I would have felt better. I dont think there is ever a way to heal from something like this alone. What the author did was show how nightmares and thoughts can haunt you.

The love story was great and didnt leave you wanting for anything. I also really enjoyed the suspense aspect of the novel. At one point when Lily is questioned about writing her book without experience I was like “YES” you said it. How can you write romance and be 24 and never experience it? I was thinking that and was doing the happy dance over Kyle and his sister when she admitted she read the book. She also told Lily that everything is on the internet. You may write a pen name, but I found out who you were…dum de dum dum dum Kyle didnt do romance but he sure did learn fast. SWOON

Guest post The Broken Gift author Daniel Friedmann

Have you ever wondered how did we get here?

Does science have all the answers or religion?

Both cannot be right.

Or can they?

The Broken Gift, examines the questions and provides an accurate gauge on which science and the Bible can come together. The book approaches the human origins debate from a fresh perspective informed by both scientific and scriptural research. The Author demonstrates alignment between key events and their dates relating to the appearance and early history of our species as described in Genesis.

In The Broken Gift, you and your family will discover what Adam and Eve were really like and where did Adam and Eve live. What does it mean to be human from a biblical and scientific perspective, did Noah, Noah’s ark and the flood really happen and how human language developed. As well as many more interesting facts.

This is the first book to comprehensively answer the question utilizing and reconciling the most up-to-date peer reviewed science and extensive biblical sources. There is also a free companion iPhone app, Bible Clock (http://danielfriedmannbooks.com/thegenesis-one-code/), enter Scientific time in the Bible Clock to find the corresponding biblical time and explore what other events were going on around the same time.

So, how did we get here? Reading The Broken Gift can encourage quality time with your family. They will enjoy having a discussion about science, religion and the meaning and purpose of life. See if you agree or disagree. Either way, you will be fascinated!

Test of Magnitude (The Torian Reclamation) by Andy Kasch #spotlight #debut

Synopsis

September 16, 2013

Revenge is only justice when it can be administered without hatred.

Welcome to the Tora star system, home of the spectacular Cardinal-4 space station overlooking Amulen and Banor, twin worlds that share the same orbit. One visit and you’ll understand why this station is the pinnacle of Torian achievement and a wonder of the Erobian Sphere.

Unfortunately, your timing isn’t great. Many centuries of peace and prosperity are on the verge of collapsing for members of the Erob coalition, as signs of the first interstellar wars loom. The half-breeds tell us it is because we are now forsaking the ancient law, and have thus allowed an evil infection to begin spreading through the galaxy. But those Erob half-breeds have always been a little over-dramatic, haven’t they?

Brandon Foss, an unhappily married Virginian in his early thirties, awakes from a strange dream to discover he has been abducted from Earth and kept in cryonic preservation on Amulen for two decades. One other resuscitated human is with him, a knucklehead who almost seems as alien to Brandon as their reptilian captors. A friendship of convenience forms as the two Earthlings soon become unwittingly intertwined in Torian politics and military affairs–at a time, it turns out, when the Torians desperately need just such intertwining.

This full-length space-adventure novel has been professionally edited and specially formatted for all Kindle devices (including the latest Torian lightpads). We promise a smooth and enjoyable electronic reading experience, complete with a click-able table of contents. Download it today and embark upon your own personal test of magnitude

Yeah, I know the picture is dark – but hey, who cares what I look like? You’re a reader, right? Nothing to read here, folks–let’s move along to the book sample.
