SYNOPSIS OF BOOKS

Kaleb

Zoey Stranford might’ve had a crush on the sexy boy next door since middle school, but she’s a woman now, and that crush has turned into a full blown case of lust. So why is it that at twenty nine, her libido decides to ramp into high gear and the only thing she can focus on is the intensely sexy, scorching hot boy next door who is definitely not a boy anymore?

The only problem is that Zoey and Kaleb have been best friends for as long as she can remember. Not to mention, Kaleb and his brothers are working on buying Stranford land to build a new resort, and…

ONLINE POETRY CLASSES http://tinyblog.teenytiny.org

Online Poetry Classes http://tinyblog.teenytiny.org

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read this page. I’ve been teaching writing classes in an online format at Edmonds Community College for several years. During the month of April 2013, I’m offering an independent 100% online poetry writing workshop. As this is the first of what I hope will be many online poetry workshops, the price for the class is just $50. You can sign up for the class using the PayPal button below (or contact me if you need to use an alternate means of payment).

The class has a limit of 12 students, so you’ll be sure to get personalized feedback on your work. You’ll write four poems over the course of the month (April 1-30), and I’ll give you constructive comments on all four pieces. We’ll also read a variety of published poetry and do freewriting exercises each week to generate ideas for poems. You’ll receive instruction in free verse poetry, with emphasis on techniques like imagery, line breaks, repetition, and voice.

I have an MFA in English (emphasis on poetry writing) from the University of Washington, and I’ve been teaching writing classes at Edmonds Community College since 2004. My book of poetry,Postcards to Box 464, was published by Bootstrap Press in 2010, and I’m the author of several published chapbooks as well. For samples of my work, please see my website.

If you have any questions about the class, or would like to see a sample assignment, please feel free to email me. I hope you’ll share the information about this class with friends, and keep an eye on this page for information about future classes.

Thanks again,
Amanda Laughtland

Out of the Shadow

The masked intruder took thirteen minutes to rape Becca Rosen. As he leaves he tells her he will be back. Stunned Becca wonders why her husband David failed to intervene even if he was not a very attentive spouse. She quickly finds him stabbed to death. She tells the police she was raped by someone who seemed familiar to her but not sure why. As there is no medical evidence of a rape, the cops, also knowing of her mental history, logically assume she made up a sexual assault as her alibi to cover her murdering her spouse.

Becca wants to move on, but someone, she believes her rapist, stalks her with immunity as the law discounts her complaints. At the same, Becca begins to suffer from horrible dreams and horrific flashbacks to a childhood of abuse. She wonders if the murder, rape and other intrusions by her attacker are tied to the recalling of her terrible youth. Desperate as she fears for her mental state as much as for her physical, Becca turns to psychologist Dr. Sarah Abrams to help her with what appears to be a repressed memory syndrome.

Out Of The Shadow is an exciting character driven thriller as no one seems to be who they claim they are. The suspense grips the reader from the moment the psychopath not only rapes Becca, but chillingly warns her he will be back, which he does in person and behind the scenes. Fans will wonder who he is and why he awakens Becca’s repressed childhood memories.

ABOUT BUZZ BOOKS 2013: SPRING/SUMMER @NetGalley

ABOUT BUZZ BOOKS 2013: SPRING/SUMMER: Winter Institute and Beyond, in an eBook.

The new edition of BUZZ BOOKS—available on all major ebook platforms—presents substantial excerpts from 28 highly anticipated books set for release between March and July. For trade readers, it builds on the ABA’s Winter Institute 8, convening later this month in Kansas City, helping to amplify what has become the unofficial spring/summer launch event. For everyone who can’t make it to WI8, we feature excerpts from 11 authors appearing there.

BUZZ BOOKS 2013 combines excerpts from major new works of nonfiction—Michael Pollan’s COOKED; bestselling authors of Made to Stick and Switch Chip Heath and Dan Heath’s DECISIVE; and Lily Koppel’s THE ASTRONAUT WIVES CLUB (already in film development)—alongside potential breakouts from established novelists. There’s Kate Atkinson’s LIFE AFTER LIFE, Joe Hill’s NOS4A2, Meg Wolitzer’s THE INTERESTINGS, Ruth Ozeki’s A TALE FOR THE TIME BEING, Philipp Meyer’s THE SON, Therese Anne Fowler’s Z: A NOVEL OF ZELDA FITZGERALD, Alexander Maksik’s A MARKER TO MEASURE DRIFT, and Benjamin Percy’s RED MOON.

We also feature samples from such highly anticipated debuts as Pushcart winner Anthony Marra’s A CONSTELLATION OF VITAL PHENOMENA, Caine Prize winner NoViolet Bulawayo’s WE NEED NEW NAMES, and Anton DiSclafani’s THE YONAHLOSSEE RIDING CAMPF OR GIRLS. For YA fans, there’s an excerpt from Sarah Dessen’s THE MOON AND MORE, and still others.

Plus, to cover the coming season of new releases even further, our news editor Sarah Weinman has a lengthy preview of notable books on the horizon that covers over 100 more titles.

The special “trade edition” includes important promotional, rights and contact information for each title, along with links to click-through and request the full digital galley from NetGalley.
