What the Dog Ate by Jackie Bouchard @JackieBouchard

What the Dog Ate by Jackie Bouchard

All I can say is I love Kona the lab who eats anything! I had a friend who was the Mommy to a lab and if I didn’t see it myself I wouldn’t believe it but he ate a rock once. So poor Maggie is really  upset when she ends up at the vet with Kona. Poor guy was so sick. Then she gets the bill and what they got from Kona’s belly. BOTH were bad news. The sexy purple thong panties the vet handed her were not hers. Maggie figures that while she was away at the conference for 3 days someone was wearing panties and it wasn’t her. The worst news is when her husband admits to a 4 month long affair. He leaves, Maggie is confused and lost and worst of all alone. She has never known a “single” life.

As it progresses you will see Maggie grow into a new person. Some of the things she goes through are true to life, if not for you I am sure for someone you know.

When she has had enough she leaves her job, lets her brother move in, and accepts a new life. Maggie makes her first real girlfriend in Helen a flight attendant Helen aka “Madonna” at a yoga class her brother makes her go to.

This is a well written book with a few life lessons that although sad, make you laugh. I think it is a must read so I am not the only one yelling “Maggie” live it up! I hope to see more from her and I will say it was a fab debut novel. Bravo Jackie

Breaking the Rules by Cat Lavoie

Breaking the Rules

I loved Roxie just like the others who read and reviewed before I did. I think the family dynamic was the hi-lite of the book. I think this could be a series too. The way Roxie was stepped on and abused is awful and I was so sad for her. I wanted to yell Greta go F yourself now! Between the sisters Izzie and Steffi always arguing and then the fact that she was with Ethan who had a Mother who I KNOW looked like a horse with a a teased up hair do, was bad enough, but please the Evil Vic! Ethan was her first what? I don’t know. I think she convinced herself that he was the “one”. I guess I need to figure that out.

I think Roxie had a dream, a passion, and great friends. I think she knew that they were her support system, as any good friend who owns a bar, Adam rocked! I say go and read this one, for a good life lesson and a great laugh!. Bravo Cat you did a great job, but I want more! California Chicken and cupcakes are on my mind so make sure they show up in the sequel I am asking for. xoxoxo
