William seeks to complete his assignment, the elimination of a Star-child named Sydney on planet Earth, but when the assassination is delayed he begins to realize an emotional connection with his target. With conspiracy threatening his home planet, and a hidden menace on Earth seeking to secure a vested interest, William finds himself torn between irrevocable duty and sacrificing everything he stands for to defend Sydney. The heart never lies…

The only words that bring comfort to a confused mind. Partaking in the experience of the Quad from the safety of the observation room used to be the only thing Evan needed to worry about, other than supervising the Recruits in the field. Secretly, she desires more; driven by her thrill-seeking hidden side. Her wish is finally granted when Maxwell and Mr. C. inform her that she must choose to support Ziv, Francis or Jaythan during one of the Quad phases. Ignorant to what exactly that entails, Evan is confounded by the question, knowing full well that it could very well end up in her death. Now, Evan is beginning to understand that life and the outcomes of your decisions is less of a game than she accounted for. When she finally makes the choice, she finds herself submerged – literally – in a desperate fight for her life, as well as wrestling with this reality: she is torn by her growing feelings for two of the new young prodigies. Equine Profiles of the Lazy S Ranch

Tera Shanley here, author of Historic Western Romance, An Unwilling Husband, and in honor of
the book’s brand spankin’ new release, I’m going to do a different sort of
character profile.

Sometimes in a book, secondary characters stick out and stay
with you long after you’ve flipped that last page. The Lazy S Ranch, where
Garret Shaw lives and works, is more than just a home to his eclectic group of
hired hands. It also shelters a number of animals, each important to the cattle
ranch’s success and livelihood. But perhaps more important than all of the
other hay munching, pail kicking, human pecking animals are the horses used for
transportation, and on occasion, for a patient ear to talk into.

‘ROONEY’

First up is Rooney. He’s a tall, young, strong stallion with
a coat that shines red in sunlight. He’s restless and wants to run. Ornery half
the time and fidgeting the rest, he’s no easy beginner’s ride. And most importantly
for a cowboy in the Wild West, he’s fast as the wind and surefooted to boot. No less a horse would do for the hero of An Unwilling Husband, Garret Shaw.

‘LENNY’S HORSE’
Next up is Lenny’s horse. She’s a paint horse with brown and
white markings and an occasional feather or braid in her hair. She’s never
named in the book because Lenny, our heroine’s best friend, doesn’t speak a
lick of English. She’ll take a saddle but runs fastest bareback, and when Lenny
asks for speed, she gets it in spades. And this horse’s speed will save a life
in the course of the book.

 ‘BUCK

I saved the best for last because Maggie’s horse, Buck, has
a special place in the story. He’s her lifeline to a past she’s desperately
trying to reconnect with. He was gifted to Maggie for her seventh birthday by
her daddy and went everywhere with her until she was ten, when she was forced
to leave him. When she returns to Rockdale to reunite with the life she
remembers there, old Buckey-Boy is waiting. He’s grown pleasantly plump and a
little on the lazy side over the years she’s been away, but our Maggie will get
him into tip-top shape soon enough. He’s a gentle-souled buckskin horse that
does his best to give his riders the pace they need.

Excerpts:

Excerpt 1

“What are you doing here?” I stuttered, looking around for a means of escape. I needed to get away from him before I did something stupid…like give into the temptation of Trenton.

Brilliant question, Rowan. I scolded myself when I realized what I’d asked him. Sometimes, words seemed to fly from my mouth without me thinking through what I was about to say. I really needed to work on that.

He chuckled, wetting his lips with the tip of his tongue. “It’s a library. There’s usually only one reason to be here.”

“Usually?” I questioned with a raised brow. What other reason would one have for coming to the library?

His smile widened. “Well,” he leaned towards me, his lips grazing the shell of my ear, “if you’re really quiet you can always have sex.” He pulled back, laughing at my wide-eyed expression. “I always did have a naughty librarian fantasy.” He looked me up and down and a blush stained my cheeks in what I was sure was an unflattering shade of red. My hair was pulled back, my tortoise shell glasses perched on the end of my nose since my contacts had been bothering me today, and I was wearing a pencil skirt and button down top. It might not have been naughty, but I was dressed like a librarian since I worked here after classes and studied before going home.

“I really need to go,” I explained, realizing that I was still standing in front of him like an idiot. I tried to push past him, but he ceased my efforts with a hand on my arm. His sweatshirt was rolled up, displaying the tattoos that covered his one arm. Tattoos I had been very intimately acquainted with once upon a time. I wondered if he even remembered.

“How could I forget?” He asked.

Oh, no. Had I said that out loud?

“You didn’t have to,” he answered my unspoken question. “I could see it in your eyes that you were thinking about that night.”

I swallowed, my heart beating a mile a minute.

“You were the one that left, Rowan,” his voice held a tone of irritation. “You never gave me a chance to prove myself to you.” His thumb rubbed circles on my arm, still refusing to let me go, and it was like he thought I was an animal he could calm with a soft touch.

“You didn’t have to,” I yanked my arm from his grasp and glared at him. “I know what guys like you want from a girl like me. You got it, okay? There’s no need to keep up the farce of a good guy.”

He stared at me with a look of shock. His mouth opened and closed, gaping like a fish. He was at a loss for words and Trenton wasn’t the kind of guy to be left speechless.

I took this opportunity for what it was, and all but ran out the doors of the library. I had to get away from him. If I stood there a second longer I wouldn’t be able to resist him. From the moment I first laid eyes on Trent, when I moved to Winchester my freshman year of high school, I’d been under his spell.

“Rowan!” He called after me, but I kept walking like I hadn’t heard him. “You’re the one acting like a player! So, what?! I was good enough to fuck once but I’m not good enough to give a chance?!” Those words hit me like a slap in the face. Not because they were true, but because they were so very wrong. Trent didn’t know the real me. No one did. If he found out about me, about what I had done, he wouldn’t want anything to do with me. I knew that, so I was only trying to spare him. It had been five years since we lost our virginity to each other on a school camping trip our sophomore year. I’d have thought by now he would’ve forgotten about me, but Trent wasn’t like most guys. He actually cared. He was real. And he was perfect. I didn’t deserve him, frankly no one did. But for some reason, he thought I was someone worth caring about. But if he knew the kind of person I really was he’d run as far away from me as his feet would take him.

I reached the sidewalk and turned to see him standing on the steps staring at me.

“Answer me,” his voice was raised, but not angry. He sounded hurt and that broke my heart, because I was the one causing him pain. If he’d leave me alone, he wouldn’t have to feel that way. But Trent wasn’t the type of guy to give up. Whenever we ran into each other it was like…he still cared about me, and I couldn’t understand it. I ran away from him after we had sex and ignored him through the rest of high school. On the rare occasions when I was forced to interact with him, I was less than friendly. He needed to stay away. I couldn’t afford to let him get close.

“Girls like me don’t end up with guys like you,” I told him and he flinched like I had slapped him.

“Guys like me, huh?” His jaw flexed. “Funny,” he descended the remaining few steps and stood in front of me. He stared at me for a moment, anger and sadness stormed in his eyes. “Because somehow, in this situation,” he pointed to him and then me, “it seems like I’m the one that got used. Not you.”

Blissful Surrender ( Bliss #3) by BJ Harvey @bjharveyauthor

Title: Blissful Surrender ( Bliss #3)
Author: BJ Harvey
This is a story of Sean Miller, a dom that will have your panties diving for cover with an eyebrow quirk. That will have even the strongest woman dropping to their knees in submission with a piercing stare, and Samantha Richards, a female cop who’s tough, seemingly impenetrable shell is strong enough to resist everyone except the one man it was build up to protect her against.
**Disclaimer – If you thought the first two Bliss books were hot, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Creative use of handcuffs, batons, a club scene you have to read to believe, and a tough as nails dominant who is blindsided by the one woman strong enough to threaten his resolve not to let his past dictate his future.**
Like the other books in the Bliss series, this book can be read as a stand alone. There are common characters in the books but it is not necessary to read the first two books in the series to read this one.
I walk into his twin room and see his temporary roommate for the night—an old man who’s snoring his head off and drooling on his pillow. To be honest, this man looks like he’s in God’s waiting room awaiting his call-up. I walk toward the closed curtain beside him and pull it back to see a somewhat battered, younger version of myself lying in the hospital bed in front of me.
His eyes are closed and I can see an impressive bruise forming over his right eye as well as a cut on his cheek. He’s wearing what looks like the most unattractive hospital gown I’ve ever seen, and he’s hooked up to a blood pressure/heart monitor which is beeping quietly in the corner. There’s an oxygen mask covering his mouth and he’s got a wide white bandage wrapped around his head. I chuckle when I get an image of Humpty Dumpty in my head which is exactly who he looks like right now. Then I realize that it’s the first time I’ve laughed in a long time which fucking sucks.
Ryan’s eyes open and he stares at me, blinking a few times before a frown mars his face.
“Hey, little brother.” I step forward and take a seat in the chair by the bed.
“Hey, big brother,” he says, his voice muffled by the mask.
“What’s the damage?”
“Physically or financially?”
“Ry, what have—”
“It’s bad, Sean. Real bad.”
“How bad?”
“Worse than Detroit, bad. Worse than ever before bad.”

This is a little more magical for me than I like. I liked Rona, the main character, she didnt believe in the love fairy tale. So Rona is sold, not happy about that, and he is a loser. No man should ever abuse a woman and poor Rona going into this knowing he is a vile person was hard to get over.  As the character is growing she leans on Seid. As the story moves on the characters turn towards what I would call a grieving process. Now Rona is nasty, blaming the wrong people. Seid is also doing the same.

Just when Rona is going to give up, well it takes many thousands of years, there is that pull towards memories of Seid. It is a little bit of a fork in the road. Does Rona go good or bad?

Everyone has to begin somewhere. I began my journey to becoming an author long before I published anything. Storytelling was something I did every night before bed with my father. We would create such wonderful tales together, far better than anything in books. It sprung from our imaginations. My mother ingrained a love for the written world early on. Then my grandpa gave me his first type writer when I was in elementary school. You can guess the rest.

But it was many years later, after dabbling in all the arts, that I realized writing was my greatest passion. I grew up on the far outskirts of the Metroplex of Texas, a busy world of cities within cities. It’s easy to get lost in a place like this. Some might argue that Dallas is the “New York” of the south and I might agree. Rather than worry about being a little fish in a big pond, however, I made up my mind long ago to follow my dreams. The funny thing about dreams is they have a tendency to come to life in unexpected ways.

My best friends were my twin next door neighbors. (Inspiration for the three main ladies in Silver Hollow) We made up our own little book club, complete with readings and brainstorming sessions. I loved reading to them and they loved “the story,” as we dubbed whatever project we were working on. As we grew up and went on to different careers and schools, and I tried three different universities. Needless to say, college didn’t pan out well for me. So I did the next sensible thing and decided to write “for real.”

By day I am personal assistant and simple childcare worker at the local Learning Center for preschoolers. But by night, I moonlight as an independently published author of Young/New Adult and fantasy novels. My hope is that you enjoy my books and are encouraged to follow your dreams as well.

Title: 21 Days

Series: Time for Love #2

Author: Bethany Lopez

Sasha and TJ are no strangers to enjoying sex with no strings attached, so when they decide to act on their mutual attraction, there should be no reason why they can’t apply that same philosophy to each other.

Money has never been an issue for Sasha, which made proving herself as a real estate dynamo a personal challenge she was determined to conquer. Raised in a gilded world masking neglect and disappointment, she learned not to depend on anyone, especially when it comes to love and relationships. Men are great for companionship, but she isn’t looking for anything serious.

Used to going without, TJ has worked hard to be able to support himself. When he loses his job and his home in one fell swoop, he faces relying on others for the first time in his adult life. Then Sasha steps in, offering him a place to stay until he’s back on his feet. He grudgingly agrees, but vows to be out of her guest room within 21 days.

They’ll discover that a lot can change in 21 days, especially when they decide to give the idea of “friends with benefits” a try. “Have you made any progress?” Serena asks.
After giving my necklace a tug, I randomly pick one of the three choices of a future owner I’ve narrowed it down to. At this point, there’s nothing different about any of them. All are rich warlocks offering much for possession of me but say little else. Any warlock who said anything more always said something distasteful. “Contact this one. And make sure he pays for me before you sign anything.”
“You’re making the decision so soon?”
There’s no holding back my emotions any longer. This isn’t something I want any more than she does, but there’s a part to play. I focus all my negativity into cheer. It comes out in a squeak of giddiness. “Naturally I did, Serena. I can’t wait until I’m with my new owner. Excuse me while I go embroider a handkerchief with his name on it.”
The stunned look on her face makes an apology want to tumble from my lips, but there’s no saying the words. I spring from the room like I’m the happiest woman in Chardonia, not the one returning to a world full of hexes and beatings and warlocks. A world I despise.

Decker’s Wood by Kirsty Dallas #Cover #reveal #spotlight @kirstydallas

BOOK DETAILS
TITLE: Decker’s Wood
AUTHOR: Kirsty Dallas
RELEASE DATE: 1st JUNE 2014
SYNOPSIS

** Reader Warning** – This novel is NOT
a dark romance. There are absolutely no whips or floggers, no matter how much
Andi wants to smack Decker over the head at times. There are no BDSM slavery
themes, unless you can count that Decker is a slave to Andi’s hot cowboy boots
and sexy Texan drawl.

Decker’s Wood does however feature
glitter rain, manscaping, vajazzle, tequila shots, roof-top dancing and one
hell of a dick trick!

Was he a nude model? Stripper maybe?
Escort? Blah, I had no idea what Decker did for a living. But I’d figure it
out. I was if anything tenacious when confronted with a mystery. ~Andi

She’s forbidden fruit, a friend without
benefits. Is that why my malfunctioning member wants her so bad? Is that why I
want her so bad? I’d figure out the enigma that is Andi Jennings and I’d have a
damn good time while doing it. ~ Decker
