Extensive travelling and a background in education and tourism perfected Elaine’s keen eye for the quirky characteristics of people, captivating the humorous observations she now affectionately shares with the readers of her novels.

And her third novel Sweet Lady, again set in Antigua, will amaze you with a massive twist which goes to show that nothing is as it seems!

Being I like the author and her writing style I fell into this book right away. It goes between two stories until about half way and then blends them both. This athlete, Jeremy, who is a big football star is sickening. He is an abuser of all woman. There is really something mentally wrong with him. I enjoyed the authors perception of someone who borders on multiple personalities. So he thinks that he can do whatever he wants and the legal team will be cleaning it up. Up until now he has been difficult but this last rape and assalt makes his lawyer Sam regret his work. A once very passionate lawyer just wants to throw Jeremy in jail. I cant blame him but his partnership is on the line.
The author fabulously creates terror when Jeremy is trolling strip clubs and bars looking for a new one night stand. I was on edge and fascinated at the same time. It shows the part of the athletes we all can hate. Believe me you will hate them after this. What happens when you pay someone millions, they get endorsements, the get advertising and then they get untouchable. They are worth more to the “team” and the laywers then justice.
Kali Jorgensen is the head instructor at Rainwash Ranch in Horse Canyon, Utah, leading cattle drives for celebrities and CEOs. This was a very interesting plot twist. Get out and away from the media to focus on the case. When they are attempting damage control and the secretary suggests this I was like OK BINGO that is new and different. I was not at all happy that they put Kali and her three girls in danger at their ranch. She has a great back story that will make anyone fall for her. She is a true American rancher who lost her husband in the war.
A truly captivating story! It is like big city meets little cattle driver who has a lot to protect. There is a lot of raw gritty scenes in here so if you are offended easily then beware. I loved it, the descriptive writing style and the characters.

Mississippi Spice by Ariel Ellman @ArielEllman #review

If you did not read book 1 and 2 WHAT is wrong with you? I fell in love with Jordan and Ani in book 1. Then came Sebastian WOW!! So the story there was mind-blowing and not at all your typical break up. This is the third and NOT final (happy to say) book in the Boston Harbor Romance Series. Now Jordan Winthrop is back in Book III of The Boston Harbor Romance Series with his own love story. Ginger is still here waiting for an entire year to either sink or swim. She is very stubborn, like Ani and generally want to win on her own. She is so strong sometimes independent but always full of spice. She has the best phrases from down home.

mississippi girl d8d0497d28191b4b91718e23a38f88ee

I liked Jordan in book one because he was a fighter. He knew how he felt for Ani, but he also always knew that she was never really all his. There was always something broken that he couldn’t ever replace. The author created a character with Jordan who has just the right amount of bitter and not too much resentment. He was well-balanced and a pleasure to read.

ginger- wear pearls il_340x270.517450666_mhrw

Some of the humor about Ginger was not lost on me. She is teased throughout the book for her pearls. The best parts of their steamy scenes was her lingerie. If she was crisp, ironed and pretty she was wearing a thong and garter belt  under her starched skirt. I absolutely loved it!

Again the author does a great job of creating a strong bond of family. Throughout the series there is that bond. The animosity between Jordan and Sebastian comes front and center at several points bringing the angst level up to high. Now when the angst really heats up is between Ani and Ginger. Another great obstacle has been hanging over Ginger’s head, her ex is going to be released. She is at a corner in her life that was going to happen but now the date is looming and she is in panic mode.

Now in the middle again is Sawyer and Bobby. I will say hotter than ever! She is my all time favorite character. Her huge giving ways tend to cause trouble, this book shows just how much trouble she can cause. You will enjoy a few throw down fights, some more tequila from Remmi and steamy scenes.

The newest trying dilemma is the Raffi situation. She is becoming more like Ani and her teens are going to be a big trying time. I really loved the way that Ani and Jordan are so supportive. The writing was superb. I tried to go slow and enjoy it but how could I? I wanted more of Sawyer, Ani, Sebastian and Jordan. The family bond grows with all of them including the Hector’s. Maria and Ginger are planning a future and I cant wait to find out what their ventures will mean to them all.

9f5fd-5halfstarblogbook

Just some of my favorite quotes:

“Your eyes give everything away, Mississippi, and your blush is the cherry on top of the cake.” Jordan

“Yeah, but I don’t count. I’m a bi-sexual girl with pink hair and tattoos. I clearly have questionable morals and trampy taste in clothes,” Sawyer laughed, glancing down at her crochet dress and purple suede fringe boots. Sawyer (I LOVE her)

“I’ll have to spread the word that he’s only dining on Mississippi catfish these days…” Jackson

catfish 5dea37122643e8d23db67373bd53e082

“Ginger wraps herself around me like she’s trying to find a way inside. When she looks at me I see her whole heart staring back.” Jordan

PLEASE please read the series, support a great author and you wont be disappointed. Warning: This book contains smoldering hot sex scenes between a gorgeous pediatric neurosurgeon and a sassy southern girl from the Mississippi Delta, plenty of humor, a little heartbreak and the happily ever after for Jordan that all his fans have been waiting for!

“My heart raced as our lips parted and his tongue danced with mine. My mind was lost in the arms of the man I hoped would now be mine.”

Inside the Mind of the Author
My mind… it’s an overactive, jumbled up and scary place to be. I’ll be honest, 99% of the time I don’t live in the real world. Let’s face it, the “real” world is a stressful, violent and sometimes boring place to be. The worlds I live in aren’t governed by corruption, greed, envy, etc. They are free, happy and sometimes darn right weird.
My family tells me I wake up a different person every day – they’re probably right. I have about thirty characters talking to me and giving me ideas on what to write. So it’s hardly surprising.
Everyday life bores me for the most part. Moans and groans, people worried about finances, studying, jobs and so on. I do have those thoughts, but I tend to block them out and live with my characters. I prefer to be surrounded by magic and demons, mythical creatures and alternate worlds, rather than “real” everyday issues. I guess that’s just my way of dealing with things.
I’m a very deep thinker. I often space out and know nothing of what’s going on around me. Unless it’s to do with writing, graphic art, history (especially old buildings), photography or the weird and wonderful – I tend not to have an interest in it. I find it extremely difficult to concentrate on anything outside those areas. I much prefer to be creating something from nothing.
I guess I’m anti-social too. I love my friends and family, but I don’t see people all the time. I much prefer my own company (bearing in mind I have characters speaking to me all day every day, so I’m not lonely, lol). Most of my dearest friends live very close by, with exception of the few who live across the sea from me. I speak with them over email, Facebook, Skype, etc. But other than that, I’m a “keep myself to myself” kinda person. I love speaking with people over the internet, but face to face, I get a little anxious. I’m just not a confident person, well, not in the “real” world.

“He stayed close to me for a few more seconds. I let my hand fall so it was now against his chest. I looked him straight in the eyes, getting lost in them for a moment. I could feel his heartbeat, hard and fast. I so desperately wanted to kiss him.”

“I have lived in Droylsden, Manchester, all my life. I live with my parents, my younger sister, Cheryl and her little girl Faith.
I never knew what I wanted to do with my life until I began writing. This is my dream. I get most of my inspiration from music, I’ll sit there listening to it and suddenly I’m no longer in the room. My stories play like videos in my mind, then I go and write them down.
I’m a very dark person, I love anything spooky, supernatural, or unexplainable, and so that’s the genre I want to write in for the rest of my life.
I love watching scary films, although I find it very hard to find one these days that actually frighten me.
I also love getting creative with graphics. I’ve designed over twenty book covers so far. I create promo art and even book trailers.
I have had a love of photography from being a child. I have literally thousands of photographs which I have taken over the years. Now, I have a professional DSLR camera and I’m looking to do photography as well as my graphics as a sideline project.”

How can I label this book? Well it was really cute, really sexy and had a great plot. So trying to tell you how poor Jenna gets into this situation is so pitiful. So Jenna comes home after recently graduating college and her boyfriend of 3 years was caught cheating. Poor Jenna as if things cant get worse it was her longtime best friend Lacey. This was the part that pissed me off. I just dont get how Lacey could do this. Well Jenna goes home and is going to work with her Dad who has a contracting business. Sutton who is Lacey’s brother works there too. Jenna has a big crush for far too long on Sutton. It doesnt take more than a look to get Jenna to forget Adam and remember the lust she felt for Sutton.

The plot really heats up with a plan to break Lacey and Adam up. So much drama! I was annoyed, so that is how you know the author created a good character with Lacey! How did she expect Sutton to just get Jenna to talk to her. It is bad enough what she did but to think she could forget almost 3 years with Adam and forgive.

forgiveness quotes-about-forgiveness-20

If you like a fluffy romance then this is it. If you like drama and plots that are devious, then again this is for you! It does have a few racy scenes which prove to be quiet fun and very entertaining!

~ Book Synopsis ~

In ABOVE chosen for the March 2014 Indie Next List, award- winning author Isla Morley crafts a stunning and harrowing novel about a Kansas teenager who is abducted and locked away in an abandoned missile silo by a conspiracy theorist who believes the end of the world is coming.
Blythe Hallowell is sixteen when she is abducted by a survivalist and locked away in an abandoned missile silo in Eudora, Kansas. At first, she focuses frantically on finding a way out, until the harrowing truth of her new existence settles in—the crushing loneliness, the terrifying madness of a captor who believes he is saving her from the end of the world, and the persistent temptation to give up.
But nothing prepares Blythe for the burden of raising a child in confinement.

Determined to give the boy everything she has lost, she pushes aside the truth about a world he may never see for a myth that just might give meaning to their lives below ground. Years later, their lives are ambushed by an event at once promising and devastating. As Blythe’s dream of going home hangs in the balance, she faces the ultimate choice —between survival and freedom.

ABOVE is a riveting tale of resilience in which “stunning” (Daily Beast) new literary voice Isla Morley compels us to imagine what we would do if everything we had ever known was taken away. Like the bestselling authors of Room and T he Lovely Bones
