The weirdness continues….

Thanks to a magical transplant from an inter-dimensional enforcer, Hailey Parrish can transform into a hawk. When someone begins dismembering hikers along the Appalachian Trail, the enforcers make use of her feathery talents to pursue the killer.  Unfortunately, like most things in Hailey’s life, there is nothing ordinary about the assignment.  Their target turns out to be maddeningly elusive, they rescue a stray dog that makes a sewage treatment plant seem pleasantly fragrant, and stopping the murders turns out to be the least of their worries.

Special Attraction, the third book in the Coursodon Dimension series, combines paranormal romance, urban fantasy, a bit of science fiction and a healthy dose of quirky humor.

Author Bio
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

M.L. Ryan is a professional woman – which is not to say that she gave up her amateur status, but rather that she is over-educated with a job that reflects her one-time reluctance to leave school and get “real” work – and she spends a lot of time in that profession reading highly technical material.

She has many stories rolling around in her head, and she finally decided to write some of them. She prefers literature that isn’t saddled with excruciating symbolism, ponderous dialogue or worldly implications. She also doesn’t like plots so reliant on love at first sight that it makes her feel like her head might implode.

She lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and teenage son, four cats, two dogs and an adopted desert tortoise.

Big Bad Bite by Jessie Lane @JessieLaneBooks #Spotlight

14741876

What would it be like to live in a world where you were considered abnormal even to those who were above the norm?

Jenna O’ Conner had been taught her whole life to hide from everyone, to never let anyone close enough to know that she would prefer a shotgun for her birthday over a bouquet of roses. She’d been smothered by her overly protective family so that no one would learn what she truly was. She was not human, nor, was she considered the norm for the supernatural Other community that was benevolent enough to share this world with the humans.

In a desperate attempt to live her own life away from the small town that she had been raised in, Jenna obtained her dream job as the newest member of the Wilmington Police Department’s SWAT Team. What she hadn’t predicted was that she would run into trouble her first day on the job in the form of a deadly, mouthwatering man named Adam McPhee. Adam was also not human, but more like a wolf walking around in human skin. He was determined to figure out exactly what Jenna was, which unbeknownst to him, could very well put her life in danger. Furthermore, he was determined to have her all to himself.

As if that wasn’t enough for Jenna to deal with, bad news came into town. This group of extremist Shifters thought that humans were cattle and that factions of Others worldwide should stay within their own species—never to intermingle. Chaos ensued. Jenna had to find a way to shut them down, but in the process of trying to do that, discovered things about herself that even she had never thought were possible.

Who said the wolf was what you had to worry about?
Welcome to the real world.

This is a pretty good contemporary woman’s fiction. Amelia was approaching 60 and suddenly a widow. She has a road ahead of her that it seems she is not ready for. She had a husband who did everything for her. Making reference to numerology, the title is fitting. It is a somewhat emotional story that encompasses love, marriage, life, and loss. I understood the character and how she had to push herself to accept the loss of Nathan and grow. I got the impression that she needed to grow as a single person, as a widow, and that was the hard part for her. I think she had issues with her daughter, thus effecting her emotional state.

It was a book that will appeal to the over 30 crowd. A lot of wisdom in the pages.

On my latest novel Twelve Houses, I tell the story of a
widow who discovers that her life story is far from over. Amelia is a brave woman who struggles to find her true place in the world and at the same time to create a life that holds spiritual meaning and purpose.

Though my first book, Borrowing My Mother’s Saints, was a comedy set in New York, I think both books describe a similar spiritual journey. The struggles of all of my characters are very important to me, and I love to hear from my readers about my books.

In my everyday life, I am married, and my husband and I
are raising two sons. We currently divide our lives between San Diego, California, and Mexico.

Avoiding Temptation (Avoiding 3) by K.A. Linde #review @AuthorKALinde

17446757

As a fan of K.A. Linde, sometimes it is hard to be objective. Sometimes you know when characters such as Lexi, Jack, and Ramsey illicit such strong opinions, the author is that good. Sometimes when people are throwing kindles, ipads, and books at the wall, the author is that good. NO SPOILERS

Well I am just beside myself! I feel so sad this series is over. Seeing the characters grow over the last few years was a remarkable experience. I feel like the author did a great service to the fans by actually giving it an ending. I cant believe Lexi is 27. Where did the years go? Bekah was the one character who did NOT have any growth. She was a b****from page one to the END. In all the ups and downs we shared I honestly say that I love Jack and Ramsey. I was a double dipper then and now.

Lastly was Chyna. All I can say about her is she totally rocks the best friend role. There was one part in particular that will stick with me when Lexi asks her what to do. Well Chyna tells her straight, like always, that she knows what she should do and basically the answers are within. Lexi of course tries to cheat and Chyna tells her she needs to figure it out and she wont tell her what do do, whom to choose, who to leave and who stays. Love my girl KA Linde and the books was a phenom!

K.A. Linde is the bestselling independent author of the Avoiding series and Following Me.  As a military brat, she traveled the world with her family, imaginary friends, and ever-increasing supply of books.  She has spent much of her life dreaming up new worlds and characters and forcing them into awkward, usually life-threatening scenarios.  After graduating from the University of Georgia with a masters degree in political science, she began spending every waking hour putting those characters onto paper.  When not writing, she spends her time dancing, collecting paperbacks in the hopes of filling a Beauty and the Beast style library one day, traveling to visit her friends who now live all over the country, bargain shopping, playing with her puppies, and still reading anything she can get her hands on.  She currently resides in Georgia with her boyfriend and two puppies, Lucy and Riker, where she is hard at work on her next novel.

She is currently working on a three book Record series coming out in 2014 by Montlake Romance and the final book in the Avoiding Series, Avoiding Temptation.

Lily Love by Maggi Myers @Magnolia_B_My @TheBookAvenue

Title: Lily Love
Author: Maggi Myers
Expected Release: July 1st, 2014

Caroline used to have it all: she was madly in love with her husband, Peter, and they worshiped their beautiful baby girl. But as Lily grows into a toddler, Caroline notices that her daughter seems to live and act with a disconnect, and soon the perfect future Caroline had envisioned, along with her marriage, begin to crumble. Now she and Peter are no longer lovers, they’re plaintiffs in the throes of divorce while still struggling to care for Lily. After years of blame and overwhelming despair, Caroline’s chance encounter with a stranger at University Hospital opens her eyes to the prospect of accepting new support, new loves, and new dreams.

From the acclaimed author of The Final Piece comes a story of a family broken and unable to cope with a daughter’s disability. And a mother who finds that letting go of the life she imagined may be the only way to get to the life she was meant for.

Born in West Des Moines, IA and raised in Miami, FL, I have an appreciation for the heartland and really good cuban food.

I want to write stories that make people think. The things you thought you knew about other people and their lives? I want to twist those perceptions and make you question everything.

I am a big fan of the underdog. The one that everyone else has written off? That’s where my heart is and where my most inspired writing happens.

Finding Harmony (Katie & Annalise #3) by Pamela Fagan Hutchins @pameloth #spotlight

Check out the series lead, Saving Grace.
Katie Connell is a high-strung attorney whose sloppy drinking habits and stunted love life collide hilariously in a doomed celebrity case in Dallas. When she flees Texas for the Caribbean, Katie escapes professional humiliation, a broken heart, and a wicked Bloody Mary habit, but she trades one set of problems for another when she begins to investigate the suspicious deaths of her parents on the island of St. Marcos. She’s bewitched by the voodoo spirit of an abandoned house in the rainforest and discovers that she’s as much a danger to herself as the island’s bad guys are. As the worst of her worlds collide, Katie drags herself back to the courthouse to defend her new friend Ava, an island local accused of stabbing the senator she’s been sleeping with

Katie & Annalise Series, #2

One unexpected and hotly fought-over little boy, two dead bodies, and a series of home vandalisms throw Texas attorney turned island chanteuse Katie Connell into a tizzy. Juggling all of this, Bloody Mary cravings, baggage, and the bad guys too, she waffles between the jumbie house that brought her back from the brink and the man she believes is the love of her life.

Finding Harmony (Katie & Annalise #3)

Katie’s already on edge when a dead guy shows up at Estate Annalise and shady locals claim there are slave remains in the foundation, but when Nick doesn’t come home to her and the kids from work one day, she’s ready to lose it. A frantic Katie launches a Caribbean-wide manhunt, calling on Kurt, her stoic, steady father-in-law, and Collin, her badass big brother to help her search air, land, and sea for her husband, who may be in very big trouble indeed.

Pamela Fagan Hutchins, a former attorney and native Texan, lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for nearly ten years. She refuses to admit to taking notes for this novel during that time. If you like Josie Brown or Janet Evanovich, you’re going to love Pamela.

Touchstone of Love (A Time Travel Romance) by Beth Barany #excerpt @Beth_Barany

20487610

A time-travel romance by award-winning novelist, Beth Barany.

When a thunderstorm transports software expert Rose Waldman to thirteenth century France, she meets hunky stonemason Julien, who is secretly creating a gargoyle in defiance of his master mason. Can independent gadget loving Rose trust her life and heart to Julien, and can she really never go home again?

Goodreads        Amazon        Barnes & Noble        Smashwords

EXCERPT

“What do you mean, I missed my flight?” Rose asked in her most polite Parisian-accented French. She wanted to use a few choice swear words, but knew the French attendant would shut down like a trapdoor if she did. Rose wasn’t trying to pick a fight, yet.

“Sorry, miss,” the attendant said in French. She was dressed in a prim uniform, bright red lipstick, not a hair out of place. She waved Rose to step out of line.

Rose huffed and did as she was asked. She examined her travel itinerary for the hundredth time. All the times were there correctly. How could she have messed up? She dragged her tired body to a hard plastic seat, scrubbed her cheeks and palmed her eyes. That was supposed to calm her, she learned in one of the stress relief and relaxation seminars her boss always had her attending.

She blew out a breath and watched the next flight’s passengers queue up in this small but busy airport. Something sparkled out of the corner of her eye, but when she turned to look, it was gone.

Rose re-examined her itinerary. What was going on? There. She spotted it, a transposition of a four for a five. She did that sometimes. Rose was an hour late for her flight. She swore under her breath. Anger faded just as quickly as it came, and she bounced up, satisfied that she’d found her mistake. She was ready for a solution. There had to be a solution to get to Edinburgh on time. Had to be. Brian was waiting. The talk she had to give on the interplay between human social behavior and computer response was waiting. She was missing her talk if she couldn’t get to the conference today.

“So sorry to bother you but—” Rose rushed to the Help desk and addressed the attendant, a man in a pressed uniform, in her most polite French. “I need to catch the next flight to Edinburgh—today.”

“Sorry, ma’am, but there are no more flights today.

Only one flight a day to Edinburgh.”

“Quoi?” What? Rose stamped her foot and frowned.

She wanted to kick herself for being so stupid. She sighed. She felt idiotic.

“What are my options?” she asked in French, while the attendant watched her, a bored expression plastered on his pretty face. He probably saw passenger meltdowns twenty times a day. Even so, he rebooked her for the next day. See, there was a solution. She’d just get there a day late.

Rose hopped another bus, her fourth transportation vehicle of the day. She grumbled to herself, a mixture of French and English. Brian would be waiting for her.

She’d have to re-schedule her talk, if that were possible. The organizers would just have to deal, and maybe she wouldn’t be invited back. Damn. She hated that, but she was helpless to do anything about it right now. She sighed and settled in for the ride to the nearby town of Beauvais. In the afternoon’s fading light, she noticed an arbor in the round reminiscent of the pre-Christian era’s rites of harvest. For a moment she thought she saw young women dancing in a circle, dressed in medieval period garb. She blinked. The vision was gone.

As the bus rumbled through the town, neat stone nineteenth-century buildings adorned the wide boulevard. Between two buildings she caught the glimpse of a tall spire that caught the light and sparkled like a beacon. Her heart quickened. She hadn’t realized there was a cathedral in Beauvais. Maybe her overnight stay would be enjoyable. A pressure eased in her chest.

This was  a great military special operations book. The best is the characters and the fact that I can see this going on for a while. First is Bobby Baker, the sweetheart who left for the service and in his absence Annabelle (Belle) is lost. She knows they have plans to marry when he is out so when she gets a devastating letter from Bobby’s mom she takes off. She is at her lowest point, well I was too. I mean a few weeks in, he send her a letter saying they are done. I wanted to go find his ass and beat him with a stick myself. Poor Belle is abused by her Dad, has no place to go and now nobody to depend on but her best friend Teagan. That is really how you know the authors are good. I mean if they can get me to wanna hurt Bobby, they did their job and now he has to work it to redeem himself. Does he? well read it!

It is one of those rough and tough groups. The unit is consisting of Jaxon the leader and a man I lust after! He has special powers and I think I want to take him for a ride. Then there is Declan and Riley, they play small roles, but each have mentions of what I know will be a fascinating story.

When Belle’s best friend Teagan comes back to town she is introduced in a very guarded way. I know that I smell mystery and a big defense mechanism from her.  I cant wait to learn more. She is as hot as Belle. I loved it! A big sweet treat is when a woman does things better, faster, and hotter than a guy. Who can resist ? not me

What I wanted was a little of Bobby’s parents. I felt like they were not mentioned and there are events that I wanted to see them at. Now in the midst of the novel it gets really dark. There is a set-up, a sting, gun runners, human trafficking and a bad Mexican gang. So if you like this type of book I know you will love it like I did.

I was doing the happy dance when I saw that book 2 was due out in the spring. I will, in the mean time, keep my fingers crossed that everyone grabs this and prepares for book 2. Bring on Jaxon and Riley!
