10 Random Facts About Mara White

1.   My maternal great-grandmother was a Titanic survivor.  So, if not for her valor on April 14, 1912, (and her ability to row) I wouldn’t be here.
2.   I’m a lifelong vegetarian and lover and adorerer(er) of all things living!
3.   I attended both a vocational, agricultural high school in extremely rural Mexico and an Ivy League university.
4.   I’m a fan of highbrow and lowbrow culture, but find myself not so excited about the stuff in between.

I’m a reader, a writer, and a lover of all things romantic. I’m also a coffee, hot sauce, ink, telenovela, and Bikram Yoga enthusiast. I live in New York City with my husband and two children, and I spend a lot of time on the playground.

A time-travel romance by award-winning novelist, Beth Barany.

First things first, this is a novella. The main character Rose is lovely. Rose has a little mishap on her way to a speaking engagement. This one little mishap starts the wheel rolling. Something happens to make Rose fall into a time warp.

The goal is obviously for Rose to get back to the present day. Along the way it is a journey of being transported. If you need a short read with paranormal plots and some romance, then this is for you.

I enjoyed this short novella. I cant wait to hear what other people are saying about this one. I really hope it goes on and we can get to know Julien a little better.

Days I will dream of Mr. Canon: infinity

This book was a great blend of intelligent humor, office shenanigans and love. Emma Baker cracks me up. I totally embraced her character from page one. She never spoke to Mr Canon but was in love with him from their first encounter.As for the brilliant plot:

There is an office pool with bets placed on the new Canon PA and how long they last. She has a manager friend Rebecca who eventually convinces her to just fill in a day or two, then he has a business trip. So Rebecca offers a raise and begs until Emma agrees.

She knows his work, his schedule, his likes and is basically the perfect PA.

The office is complete with Madeline and Bert who live and die by the office pool. As for Emma she is a gem! Her room mate and savior Clara is almost as funny. She is the girl who prepares everything, is nosy, loves you to death, and your best friend. The characters were easy to like. The book flowed well, and I had an ARC, so I know the complete package is going to blow people away.

Mr. Cannon was so different. He said little when he spoke. He had no times for games. He was all about work. He was told(**wink) that he needs to eat pineapples! Best part of the book! Does Emma reach the goal? Emma has a plan, but even with her military covert operation planned to the nearest second, does it work? I say read it now and you wont regret it. It is loaded with juicy scenes, office humor, a main character you will love, and Mr Canon!

If you adore chick-lit novels, then YES this is for you. Above Par is a perfect example of a beach read. Without going into a synopsis of the book, I will tell you what I liked. First I like Drew! She gets sort of stuck watching Piper her 14 year old sister while her parents tend to a very ill Grandfather. There is an age difference, so when these little events are brought up, it is cute, funny and laugh out loud.

As soon as her parents leave, she is told there is an appointment to meet a teacher for Piper. So of course the scenario of meeting Weston is perfect. Drew is someone you can say that you would want to hang out with. I liked how she developed. Being that both of the main characters were not rich or one rich and one poor made me really enjoy it. They are just cute, average, and totally believable characters. There is a little angst thrown in but it is par for the course (get it LOL)

The dialogues between Drew and Weston were really easy to read. The secondary story plot was her ill grandfather. Cancer is an awful disease, so showing that Drew’s parents up and leave to care for him was special. I wish I saw more of this. Can it be a series? YES of course there are a few great characters in her that cna be explored. I cant wait to read what is next from this author! Chick lit fans unite!
