Watching helplessly while your baby sister saves the world alone? It kinda sucks.

Will Delacour is one of the most powerful sorcerers to ever live. He’s Guard to the Edren Prodigy—his sister, Ari. But he walked away from the war, refusing to fight in a cause he didn’t believe in. He was deemed a traitor by the powerful Family, and now there’s a price on his head that leaves him trapped in a prison of his own making. And he can’t even tell the love of his life what she means to him because of the magical war that still controls their lives.

Instead of embracing his destiny, Will is forced to watch as Ari goes into battle over and over again, facing her enemies alone. She might be okay with it, but he’s not. He doesn’t believe in the war, but he does believe in her, and he knows his place is fighting by her side. Somehow, Will has to find a way to be there when Ari needs him , even if it means he forfeits his own life in the process.

—————————————————-
Ari pointed a finger at him, “Don’t think I’ve forgotten that little stunt you pulled today. I’m debating over an adequate punishment.” She shoved herself to her feet, crossing the room and touching a finger to the spark of the doorway she’d left burning. The portal bloomed to life, and he could see the airway hanger, and the sport utility vehicle she’d affectionately named Beep, waiting for her. She stepped through, but paused just on the other side. “Will?”
“Yeah, baby sister?” he asked with a smile. She was going to tell him that he needed to lighten up, or that he wasn’t allowed to lecture boys, or that she forgot his pizza, which she had, and now that he thought about it he was mildly annoyed, but she surprised him.
“You always say that you aren’t there to protect me like you’re supposed to. I think you don’t realize something.” She tipped her head sideways, considering him while his mouth hung open. “You trained me, Will. Without that, I would die a thousand times before the Prodigy ever found me. And today, you stopped that e-mail. You don’t have to be fighting by my side to protect me.” She cracked the barest hint of a sarcastic smile. “Anyway, I’m an uber-powerful warrior. I don’t need a babysitter.” Her sarcastic smile turned sad. “I need a brother who reminds me that I’m not a monster. Who loves me and always has my back. Who reminds me that I still have hope. If not for you, I would be lost. Remember that, Will.”

Wendy Knight was born and raised in Utah by a wonderful family who spoiled her rotten because she was the baby. Now she spends her time driving her husband crazy with her many eccentricities (no water after five, terror when faced with a live phone call, etcetera, etcetera). She also enjoys chasing her three adorable kids, playing tennis, watching football, reading, and hiking. Camping is also big: her family is slowly working toward a goal of seeing all the National Parks in the U.S.

You can usually find her with at least one Pepsi nearby, wearing ridiculously high heels for whatever the occasion may be. And if everything works out just right, she will also be writing.

The Sweet Spot by Ariel Ellman #excerpt @ArielEllman @dirtyhoesbook

Ani Winthrop has spent the last ten years trying to forget what it meant to be Ani Mackenzie, the girl who had to say good-bye to her childhood love Sebastian O’Reilly when she was just sixteen. She married a wonderful man, had a beautiful daughter with him, and opened up her own bakery, The Sweet Spot. But when Sebastian walks into her bakery after fifteen years apart, she cannot ignore that he is the only one who could ever truly find her sweet spot.

Sebastian has returned to Boston now, no longer a boy, a man with a feral intensity and a hard muscled body tattooed with the story of his years away from Ani. He has returned to claim the love of his life, only to find that Ani is a wife and mother to another man’s child.

Now Ani has to choose between the love that she has for her husband Jordan, a handsome and successful pediatric neurosurgeon, and the love for Sebastian that she has never been able to let go of.

Sebastian’s eyes darkened with desire at Ani’s teasing words and he pushed her plate away from her and leaned in to capture her lips between his teeth.
“Hey, I’m hungry,” Ani protested against Sebastian’s mouth with a laugh.
“I’ll feed you,” Sebastian whispered, picking up a piece of dripping chicken with his
fingers and sliding it into Ani’s mouth. Ani sucked Sebastian’s finger into her mouth and licked the dripping juices as he fed her.
“More,”
Ani whispered, twisting around and lifting herself up onto the table until she was sitting in front of Sebastian with her legs in his lap.
Sebastian dipped his fingers into the dish of chicken and rubbed the dripping sauce
across Ani’s bottom lip as he slipped his thumb under her teeth, rubbing the
taste of curry on the roof of her mouth.
“I’ll never be able to taste curry again without thinking about you in my mouth,” Ani
moaned, throwing her head back as Sebastian continued to drip sauce onto her
lips.
“Still want to eat?” Sebastian breathed, pushing the bowl aside and laying Ani down
onto the table.
“Yes.
You,” Ani moaned in reply, reaching for Sebastian and pulling him toward her.
“You want to know what I dreamed of in prison when I had my hand wrapped around my dick?” Sebastian whispered, unbuttoning his jeans and pulling Ani up toward
him.
“Yes,”
Ani breathed, reaching forward and pulling Sebastian out of his jeans.
“I closed my eyes and imagined your hands on me instead of my own,” Sebastian
whispered, wrapping his hands around Ani’s as she stroked him. I imagined you tasting me.” Sebastian rubbed his fingers across the tip of himself and wet them with the beads of pre-come that oozed out. “I imagined this,” Sebastian murmured, bringing his sticky fingers up to Ani’s mouth and rubbing them against her lips.
“I missed the taste of you,” Ani moaned, licking the salty residue on her lips and
bringing her face down to run her tongue across the tip of Sebastian’s leaking cock.
“But you know what I dreamed of the most?” Sebastian moaned as Ani took him in her mouth.
“What?” Ani breathed, lifting her head up to stare into Sebastian’s piercing eyes.
“Being inside you,” Sebastian confessed, pushing Ani back down onto the table and
spreading her legs open as he peeled off her jeans. “I yearned to sink myself inside you.” He slid a finger into Ani, stretching her open for him.
“Please,” Ani begged, pulling Sebastian down on top of her.
“I remember our first time like it was yesterday,” Sebastian murmured, sliding his
finger out of Ani and thrusting inside her with a groan. “You were so tight and wet, so sweet.” He traced the hickeys down Ani’s body with his tongue.
“You smelled like the sea,” Ani whispered back.

I got my first taste of romance novels tucked away in the back of Papyrus, a little bookstore near Columbia University in Manhattan, when I was eleven years old. They had a children’s section, but it was downstairs in the basement, accessed by a separate street entrance, and they always closed it before we got there.

My father liked to take me and my brothers to bookstores late at night, after spending at least an hour lingering over black coffee and poppy seed cookies at The Hungarian Pastry Shop on Amsterdam Avenue and we never made it over to Papyrus before ten p.m.

Out of boredom, trapped in the dusty aisles of Papyrus late at night, I started browsing through all the old used books. I wasn’t too interested in the textbook sections that catered to the Columbia students, but
I did fall in love with the paperback romance novels. The first one that I read was an epic 500-page historical love story set during the War of 1812. I was drawn in instantly, and I fell in love with romance novels after that. My oldest and dearest friend Barbara’s older sister, Audrey, lent me my second romance novel, a tattered paperback that reminded me of a steamier version of the movie Romancing the Stone with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. After that, I could always be found in the romance section of B. Dalton Books,
devouring steamy historical romance novels by Catherine Coulter and Dorothy Garlock.

I then proceeded to write my own romance series, which I thought was fabulous, but since I was only twelve and had an almost non-existent love life to base it on, it probably wasn’t actually that exciting.

Over the years, I detoured away from the standard romance novels as I delved into classic literature as an English major in college at Drew University, and I fell in love with the classics: Jane Austin, George Elliot,
The Bronte Sisters, Hardy, and Hawthorne. In my personal reading, I delved into Gail Tsukiyama, Dorothy Allison, Kathryn Harrison, Julia Alvarez, Anita Shreve and many others. I devoured memoirs by Alexandra Fuller, Adeline Yen Mah and Helen Fremont. I went through a Patricia Cornwell phase and even considered
becoming a mortician, earning the nickname Morticia from my husband’s high school buddy Jeremy. But through it all, the constant theme that attracted me to everything that I read was romance, and in the end, I found myself circling back and falling in love with the good old romance novel again.

Upon my return to my old love, the romance novel, I fell in love with Julie Garwood and read every historical romance that she wrote at least five times. Then I discovered Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books and tore through them, sulking and grumbling as I waited for each new book in the series to come out.

During this process of abandoning the romance novel and finally returning to it, I graduated college, married a wonderful man and spent the next twelve years having five children, which kept me a little busy and distracted me from the one thing that I love more than reading romance novels, writing them.

So armed with a little more history in the love department than I had at twelve, I decided to dive back in and write The Sweet Spot. I had no idea initially that it was going to be the first book in my Boston Harbor
Romance series, but as I was writing it, I realized that I didn’t want the story to end, and that so many of the characters in the book had stories that needed to be told.

Whenever I finish reading a great romance, it is always bittersweet because I miss the characters that I have fallen in love with. The wonderful thing about a series is that you never have to say good-bye.

Ten things I wish I knew before I was published:

1. Getting the book written would turn out to be the easy part.

2. My editors will become an invaluable resource in my career.
3. I will have to write 10x as fast once published to keep up with deadlines.

4. Other authors will be amazingly generous to me as a new author and continue to be a pretty awesome group of people who become friends through this new “job” of mine.
5. Attending conferences, meeting agents, editors and other authors, was worth the price, in both time and money, pre publication.

6. The thrill a good review would bring. Validation at last! (A bad review. Not so much. 
Bad reviews will happen, not everyone can love my book as I do. Must learn to shrug it off and grow a pair.

7. Mr. Deveaux would often get a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, if he was lucky. He wouldn’t learn to cook despite my absence from the kitchen and the sporadic grocery shopping I would do when under deadline. Despite all this, I wouldn’t lose weight!

8. When you say you’re a writer, people always are intrigued and ask questions. Guaranteed. And if you’re an erotic romance writer, the response is even more interesting!

9. Social media is more important than I ever imagined, before I was published.

10. They were all right when they said, “never give up.” Thank goodness I didn’t!
My career to publication took about seven years of serious writing, taking writing classes, attending RWA conferences, pitching to editors, and editing my various stories. It was a long haul and I learned so much from my fellow authors. When it all came together it was really worth all that hard work, I love what I do!

The Key By Jennifer Anne Davis @AuthorJennifer #Dream #cast @Journey_Imagine

~DREAMCAST~

If I could choose anyone to play my characters in a movie, this is who I’d pick:

First up, Rema!! Spunky, sassy, and a bit of a wild one, Rema is seventeen with blonde hair, blue eyes, and is fair skinned. She looks “different” from everyone else on the island. A perfect actress is Amanda Seyfried.

Next up, Darmik. Darmik, like everyone else on Greenwood Island, has dark hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin. He’s the commander of the King’s Army so I picture him having a hard edge to him. A perfect match is Chase Crawford.

Then we have Prince Lennek, Darmik’s brother. Lennek looks similar to Darmik, only a bit softer. He prefers lounging around the castle and entertaining women, as opposed to anything that requires physical exertion. Douglass Booth would make the perfect Lennek.

King Barjon. What’s there to say? He’s evil, malicious, and Darmik’s father. Gabriel Byrne has the exact look I’m going for.

Rema’s chambermaid is Cassie. Cassie, like everyone else, has dark hair, brown eyes, and tanned skin. Mila Kunis has Cassie’s look.

And last, but certainly not least, Darmik’s friend and fellow soldier, Neco. Liam Hemsworth fits Neco perfectly!

The Fine Line by Alicia Kobishop @AliciaKobishop #review #sale

If you are a New Adult fan this is for you. The main character is Liv (Olivia) and she is hardened. She has lost her Dad and it seems every man she loves just leaves. That being said is one of the reasons why I LOVED the book. The author adds characters that have touched Olivia. She has the luck to not only meet but love some of her Mothers boyfriends.  I for one have rarely seen this side of a character written in a book. So it goes to show you that not every man is an abuser or a molester. I liked how she was glad to have Kevin. Then he is killed by a drunk driver. The last one was Adam, she loved him. He was younger than her mother and when her mother wouldn’t marry him he left. I felt so bad that she let her guard down, felt love, felt compassion and then was alone again.

She slowly forma a friendship with Logan. The story with him is different, he is an illegal street racer. I have not read any story about that, so it was something fresh and new for me. There are a few sub characters, like Mel who is her best girlfriend. Mel is involved with a guy that Liv adores, and they also get “girl” time. Olivia is a hard worker, goes to school and doesn’t do drugs. Another something so refreshing.

This is a debut, so when you start out with a great book it only gets better. There is a lot to love about the writing style, characters and angst. There ia a lot of angst. I think the author did the waves of emotions well. There is a low that is just the right amount of anger, then the right amount of love. I wish for a lot of success on this book. I want more from the author!

How can I do this review? I think maybe start by saying each book was great! The best part of the trilogy is that they are all there at once. Bingo instant gratification. So what if there is a cliffhanger, epilogue or a dreaded … You go on to the next one immediately  I don’t like to wait. In a small town, it’s hard to recover from being dumped by your high school sweetheart. That’s just what Briana has to do after Colin leaves her to follow his dreams. She focuses her energy into her friendships and the pursuit of her own goal of becoming a chef. Just when she finally feels like she’s on the right path, he comes back to town.

loveit

Colin knew breaking up with Briana before leaving for college was the right thing to do. So this book started of with a big sigh and a WTF was that? How could he do this? I guess in his small pea sized man brain he thought he was doing the right thing. When he thinks he has moved on and she holds the biggest grudge they are thrown together in the town where it all started. Collin may have a redeeming quality after all. Well this is a short, to the point, knock down drag it out book. I loved Bree and her feisty attitude is one to read an enjoy.

There is a lot of the small town feel to enjoy. Lovers of chick lit will grab it up and put Briana up on a pedestal which is where I think she belongs. The other star of the book was Kent. Please read it and understand why I adore him. The name Kent is very cool too!

A young couple kissing

Up until now, Nicole’s life has been mapped out for her. She’d go to college, marry Jake and become the upstanding minister’s wife. Poor me I didn’t think arranged marriages went on and especially in Texas. I guess when ministry issues and money rule, they are arranged or do we say anticipated? Either way Nicole has the biggest set of **** and left. YOU go girl! She was not having it! Going to a new begining, she meets Kent. Yes my doll Kent. He is not really resistant but has some lingering feelings about being jilted. An exceptional read (as any lover of Kent would say)

He had a love for his twin sister Roni that was probably the most fierce I have outside of a Kristen Ashley book. If anyone looked, said, or gestured inappropriately he was all over it. Love that in a man.

So this is another home run in my opinion. The cast of characters is great and the fact that there was angst, but bearable angst. After a lifetime of learning to protect his heart, can he finally let down his guard? Oh my read it!

young couple

Roni’s dreams of becoming a contemporary dancer were smashed under the brutal rage of her ex-husband’s fists. WOW! This was by far the best in the series. I am such a fan! That being said, I am so going to rave about this one too! Getting divorced and starting over was not something Roni thought she would do. When she arrived in the last book, I sort of loved her and knew there was depth there. This was a much more emotional read than the others. I thought the plot and the suspense aspect added to the reveal so much that the outcome was fireworks!

Rich, a player with a heart puts all his cash into opening a Rec Center. Now here come the Roni that was hidden under the shell. She turns out to be fun, loving and open. Great character development. Now I know there are so many people I want to see in the next book. Is there a next book? Gosh I hope so. The characters and this small town vibe is too good to waste. PLEASE dont waste it. I want more!

Shay
After waiting ten minutes in Victor’s kitchen, and another ten minutes in my car as it rumbled loudly in the driveway, the princess is finally seated in the black leather bucket seat beside me, arms crossed and looking none too happy about her predicament.
“You going to sit there and pout like a spoiled brat not getting her own way, or you actually going to talk to me?” I look over at the raven haired woman in my passenger seat who still has my groin tight and my breath lost.
She looks my way and scowls. “I don’t even know your name! And anyway, why would I want to talk to one of my father’s underlings who probably doesn’t know his head from his ass? Hell, even your hot ass muscle car is probably paid for with dirty fucking money.” She smirks, and I see it—that spark. The fire that I saw burning in her eyes this morning when we met.
I stop at an intersection and wait for the traffic lights to change. “Seems there are a few things we need to clear up, cupcake. My name is Shay, and this hot ass muscle car is mine and mine alone. No dirty fucking money involved. And I can assure you right now, I definitely know my head from my ass. You know what else?” I lean in towards her ear. “I also know where your ass and head are, and right now one is stuck so far up the other, it’s a wonder you don’t need breath mints.”
