The Sweet Spot by Ariel Ellman #review @ArielEllman @dirtyhoesbook

First this is the best cover! I am in love with it! For the book it was just fantastic! Seriously the entire scenario between our three main characters couldn’t have been written better. Ani being semi happy married to Jordan seemed so cliche for about a minute. As the story unfolds and we learn Sebastian is back all I can say is bring on the angst. His story of prison was a sad one. What was worse than the reason he was in prison? The fact that he DOES explain his reasons for passing up parole. What a man! I can’t describe how I was cheering for this author just for writing him in the light she did. It is NOT typical at all.

Now Ani has to choose between the love that she has for her husband Jordan,

a handsome and successful pediatric neurosurgeon,

and the love for Sebastian that she has never been able to let go of.

So Ani is married to Jordan and they have a give who is 9 named Raphael. The story for them and their daughter is  love story. Jordan, although older by 15 years, was perfect for Ani. When Jordan reaches a low, the character remembers little pieces of their time together, and realizes something was always missing.  I was so torn between the two men.

Who was the other star of the book? Sawyer! Ani has the best sister in the universe. I love her! Everyone needs a lesbian sister like Sawyer. She had the best lines in the book. It was a wonderful way to give a little lighthearted humor in a very serious circumstance. They shared a bond even though there was an age difference. What was funny to me was how the author describes childhood memories of Sawyer and Ani. As adults whether right or wrong Sawyer backed Ani 100%.

Another character that spoke to me was Liam, Sebastian’s dad. it is a little spoiler but, I must call attention to the way he cared for his son. This man has suffered great loss. He is overall a fairly wise and happy man. What I liked was the fact that the author writes him in a completely forgiving light. His son was in prison, when he returns, Liam welcomes him. He knew that he raised a unique boy who was delivered a punishment, suffered the consequences, and learned from it. Also while Sebastian was away he made use of his time becoming a very educated man.

Believe me when I say it is not your typical contemporary romance. It is a story to be savored, read, enjoyed and most of all shared! If you love it tell someone. New authors like Ariel Ellman need the fans to speak for them. If you read it, write an Amazon review, let the author know she has someone rooting for her success.

He smelled so damn good, clean with a hint of masculine sweat, a temptation I couldn’t resist. Beyond my control, my tongue darted out of my mouth and covertly tasted the section of chest exposed above his tank. Oh God, he tasted even better than he smelled, like a chocolate-covered pretzel—sweet, salty, and addictive.
“Did you just…lick me?” he asked, sounding both shocked and amused.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“You licked me. I felt it,” he accused, but I noticed he wasn’t complaining.
“Your imagination is running wild because of all the workout endorphins.”
“It wasn’t a complaint. In fact, you’re welcome to have another taste.”
“Fine…I licked you. But it was an involuntary reflex—hot guy, exposed chest…you know how it is.”
“Mmm,” he replied, his eyes darkening with lust. “I am familiar with the temptation, but it’s not a hot guy who’s testing my self-control…it’s a petite, auburn-haired vixen.”

If you are a New Adult fan this is for you. The main character is Liv (Olivia) and she is hardened. She has lost her Dad and it seems every man she loves just leaves. That being said is one of the reasons why I LOVED the book. The author adds characters that have touched Olivia. She has the luck to not only meet but love some of her Mothers boyfriends.  I for one have rarely seen this side of a character written in a book. So it goes to show you that not every man is an abuser or a molester. I liked how she was glad to have Kevin. Then he is killed by a drunk driver. The last one was Adam, she loved him. He was younger than her mother and when her mother wouldn’t marry him he left. I felt so bad that she let her guard down, felt love, felt compassion and then was alone again.

She slowly forma a friendship with Logan. The story with him is different, he is an illegal street racer. I have not read any story about that, so it was something fresh and new for me. There are a few sub characters, like Mel who is her best girlfriend. Mel is involved with a guy that Liv adores, and they also get “girl” time. Olivia is a hard worker, goes to school and doesn’t do drugs. Another something so refreshing.

This is a debut, so when you start out with a great book it only gets better. There is a lot to love about the writing style, characters and angst. There ia a lot of angst. I think the author did the waves of emotions well. There is a low that is just the right amount of anger, then the right amount of love. I wish for a lot of success on this book. I want more from the author!

Genre: NA Contemporary Romance

Cover Design: Berto Designs

Release Date:  February 13, 2014

The problem with crazy is that crazy, by itself, has no context. It can be good crazy, bad crazy . . . or crazy crazy—like it was when my ex-boyfriend sung about me on the radio.

Eighteen-year-old Kate couldn’t be more excited about finishing high school and spending the summer on tour with her boyfriend’s band. Her dad showing up drunk at graduation, however, is not exactly kicking things off on the right foot—and that’s before she finds out about his mystery illness, certain to end in death.
A mystery illness she is likely to inherit.

When your whole life goes from adventure and ecstasy to sad and suicidal, what’s the point? Not knowing who to love, and who to trust . . . where does it end?

The Problem With Crazy is a story about love and life; about overcoming obstacles, choosing to trust, and learning how to make the choices that will change your life forever.

“And there is something else we need to tell you, dear.”“Deb, not now. Give ‘er a rest,” Dad interjected, his voice sounding ever more weary with each passing word.

“What? Tell me,” I demanded, my fingers clenching into little fists. “What could possibly be worse than what you’ve already said?” Dave placed his arm protectively around my shoulders. I wanted to shake it off.“Maybe we should wait.” Mum eyed Dave’s hand.

“Anything you have to say, you can say in front of him.” I shook my head. “He’s family. You know that.” Dave and I locked eyes, and he gave me a special little smile.

“Kate, it’s not a good time.” Mum’s voice was shrill. My heart was beating like a jackhammer, thud-thud-thud, over and over at double time.

“If you don’t tell me now, I’ll Google it. I’ll just search the disease and see what I can find. We both will!”Silence. Dave took my hand in his, clasping his other hand around it so I was protected entirely within his palms. Mum and Dad looked at each other, foreheads wrinkled and lips pursed.

“The disease your father has,” Mum paused. I nodded at her. Go on.

Just tell me. Get it over with.

“It’s hereditary.”

I struggled to breathe as Dave’s fingers slowly unlaced themselves from mine.

The Key (The True Reign Series, #1)
by Jennifer Anne Davis

The Key is a fantasy type novel you will love, like I did. For the main characters King Barjon and his two sons Lennek and Darmik (odd names but I liked them) are the rulers. They are struggling because their land is not what it once was. They sort of rule with old-fashioned iron fist. The tale is rich in descriptions. I enjoyed the way the author describes how the rulers keep track of people. King Barjon also doesn’t let anyone travel out of Greenwood. He was frightening to me. A very scary man who had me waiting for something awful to happen.

I fell in love with Rema. She was different from almost everyone. She stuck out to me because she was hidden by the Aunt who raised her. They shielded her from society. The author brings out her hopes, dreams, and thought on the future. I really thought she was perfect. A great dilemma is brought out here that made the book for me! Being thrust into making a huge choice had me stunned!

This journey for Rema is an outstanding example of the author’s ability to make you venture to a far away land. I am such a fan of her character. The inner thought she has are some of the best in the book.

I have read The Voice and I LOVED it. Jennifer Anne Davis is a promising author with so much to offer. She writes in different genres so this will defiantly appeal to those who like classic books in the med-evil times. An epic fantasy I recommend especially for the young adult population.

Jennifer Domenico Jennifer Domenico started
writing as a five-year old child in the back of her mother’s bible in
church. It was a way to keep the fidgety child quiet but even then she
took simple stories and twisted them into even more imaginative tales.
As she grew, the stories grew with her and she filled notebook after
notebook with her musings.

As an adult, she knew she wanted to be
a writer but she lacked the attention span and inspiration required to
produce a full length story. Eventually she put away her notebooks and
turned her attention to the business world where she toiled away for
many years.

She stopped reading fiction, stopped entertaining her
outlandish imagination, and stopped dreaming of being a writer. Until
one day, many months ago she went to sleep and a beautiful love story
played out in her dreams.

When she awoke she felt compelled to

”Can I get you anything?” I asked him, while taking all the empty plastic glasses off the counter.”A smile. Give me that and you’ll get the biggest tip tonight.” The slow seductive tone rolling off his shapely lips told me he wasn’t just fooling around. His green eyes were staring at me like I was dessert. This guy was hot and he knew it. The way his tousled light brown hair went every which way, hanging down onto his forehead, told me right away he didn’t care about his looks. He didn’t have to.He wanted a smile? I shook my head. ”You don’t want a drink? Just water, maybe?”

”No, just a smile. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and it’s just a smile I want.” He brushed his hand through his hair, making it even more distressed.

I knew I was blushing and biting my lips in embarrassment. His eyes refused to stray from mine, pinning me in place. I smiled, but not because he asked.  No, this was solely because this very random man had pulled one out of me on his own. I saw the humor in his eyes. He slid fifty bucks out of his pocket and onto the counter. ”Thank you, Princess. You just made my night.”

He got up and walked away. I could see the hint of tattoos peeking out of his neckline and rolled up sleeves, but I was too astonished to call after him or say anything. He was wearing simple black converse, washed out jeans and a black long sleeve henley. There was something about him – mysterious and inscrutable. If he wanted  to get my attention, well – he got it.

Who the hell was that? I kept asking myself as he walked away. I knew he was the guy Tyler had been excited to see, but I had never seen him around here before. I knew I would have remembered that piece of man candy.

He didn’t give me his name and I didn’t give him mine. Not that he had to ask – I had a name tag with my name on it. It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me.  My eyes remained trained on him until he opened the door of the club and left. I found myself still watching the door, even after it was closed, like I wanted to chase after him – which was insane. I shook my head, willing myself to move on.

I began wiping the counter, pausing to watch Val entertain her groupies at the station next to me. As I turned to grab more lemons, my eyes were drawn again to the door. Tristan walked in with few of his friends. I had never seen Tristan here before and even after our dinner date tonight, I still didn’t expect it. I couldn’t tell if I was excited by the surprise visit or nervous about it. I felt like he was parading a bunch of his buddies around my bedroom, looking through all my dirty laundry. This was my home away from home and I wasn’t sure if I was ready to let him in—yet. Not to mention I was still shaken up from Mr. Mysterious.

Eternal
Echoes Excerpt by Angela Corbett
(Emblem
of Eternity trilogy, Book 2)

I took a deep breath as I came out of the memory. I was getting better at keeping my flashback reaction less
noticeable, but I still steadied myself against the gate. Alex noticed. “Are you okay?” he asked.
I nodded, my breath less ragged. “I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” He came over and stood behind me, a commanding presence. His hands were a gentle weight on my arms as he turned me toward him. At first, he seemed to be looking for signs of distress, but as our eyes caught and held, I knew his thoughts were in other places, and mine were headed there, too. His hand slipped feather-light over my arms and down until they rested above my hips.
Like I was having some sort of out-of-body experience, I watched as my hand went up to his face, tracing the line of his jaw. “We shouldn’t be doing this,” I said in a very unconvincing way.
It wasn’t that I didn’t mean what I said. I did. And I still had enough blood flowing to my brain to vocalize it. But I was having a hard time convincing my rational side I shouldn’t be making out with Alex. Especially when my rational side was practically screaming that I’d kissed Emil last night and to be fair, I should also make out with Alex. My rational side told me I wouldn’t want a double-standard. My rational side had lost its mind.
“Why?” Alex asked, inching slowly closer, his eyes dark in a way that made my legs feel like pudding.
There were so many possible answers to that question, with reasonable arguments why we shouldn’t proceed, that I wasn’t sure which to choose. I started with, “What if the bracelet doesn’t work?”
Alex glanced down at my bracelet, giving a very slow smile I could only describe as predatory before eying me like he was preparing for an attack. Apparently a couple of centuries of sexual frustration will do that to you.

“It will,” he answered, still moving toward me. “How can you be sure?” Alex’s mouth curved slightly in a smile part rapacious, part entertained. “I’ve been waiting a long time for a relationship with you, Evie. And for everything that comes with it. I wouldn’t have given you the bracelet if I wasn’t sure it would work. I gave it to you because I intend to put it to use.” Sheesh!
Judging by his dark, focused gaze, I knew he wasn’t kidding.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea.” I shook my head, like that would emphasize my argument and stop his sultry advances. It didn’t. His arms went around me tight, pulling me to him. My chest crushed into his, the hard planes of his stomach obvious even through our clothes. He stared down at me, not loosening his embrace. My breath was shallow as I stared back, wondering how long it would be until we both lost all common sense. He moved his lips over my cheeks, the soft skin brushing wispy strokes over my face. When he got to my ear, he took the soft pad in his lips and nipped lightly, then whispered one word. “Why?” Why? Why what? Had there been a question? I fumbled around in my head for what we’d been talking about. Oh. That’s right. Bad idea. This is a bad idea. Why is it still a bad idea? What was my list again? I did more fumbling and found one. “What about Emil?” I felt Alex tense, his shoulders becoming taut under his shirt. “He’s not invited to this conversation.”

Geez! Alex had always been overbearing, but apparently when it came to sex, he was not only overbearing,
but alarmingly primitive. Again, I attributed the aggression to decades of pent up frustration.
“Don’t you think he’ll be pissed?”
Alex kept kissing down my neck, and I moaned. His hands moved around to my stomach, unzipping my coat. He quickly discarded it on the ground. “We all agreed to the rules,” Alex said, his hands moving lightly under my sweater, inching it up ever so slightly. I’d never been addicted to anything, but imagined this was how
addiction started. A little at a time. Alex pulled my sweater over my head, then kept kissing back up my neck and along my jawline. “We’re not doing anything wrong.” I looked at where our hands were, and the clothes slowly making their way to the ground. We were about to be doing things that were wrong in a very good way. “I guess it depends on your definition. Emil would think this is seriously wrong.”
The muscles at Alex’s jaw ticked, his eyes glittering with a combination of passion and anger. “I told you,” he said, moving swiftly, one arm sliding under my thighs, the other around my back. He lifted me, cradling me in his arms, and walked down the row of stalls to an empty stall at the end of the barn. Fresh hay was scattered in large mounds, creating a soft bed on the ground—albeit a scratchy one, but better than the dirt floor. He laid me down gently in the hay then straddled me, the years of want and need, written across his face. “We’re not talking about him.” With that, he was on top of me, the kiss aggressive. I could feel my soulmark burning, and my bracelet seemed to be giving off heat as well. If this kept up, I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole barn burst into flames.

Bartender, dirt bike racer, and far from settling down…until that one race, and that one girl that changed everything.
Well if you love drama, suspense and steam then grab this book! It is a continuation of Running From Forever. If you didn’t read it, then buy it NOW!
Filled with the characters from Running, staring Merrick Drake. This is a bit of a change for the author, whom I adore, it is loaded with suspense. Normally Amelia Driscoll is quiet, keeps a low profile, and loves to ride a dirt bike. She has been with a loser who controls her, until Merrick. They spend a weekend together and he is done. I have never read a male character so totally taken by a woman. His words are expressive, deep, and female sounding!
Poor Merrick is caught up in Amelia and he literally counts the days without her. His somewhat journal entries are painful. He is losing control so the people around him are concerned with his nonstop depression without his mystery girl. Kayla tries a few times without luck to get him on a date. He himself tries a few unsuccessful hookups.
We get to see Miles and Kayla from the previous book. Finally Kayla is happy and adjusted. Miles was very arrogant through the beginning parts of this book. Then Miles steps up and wow I am in love with him. He has control, attitude and money to back it all up. It was a great book from beginning to end. It is loaded with angst, mafia dealings, suspense, love and friendship.

Eternal Starling

Book 1

A love so strong, even eternity can’t separate them.

Evie Starling has lived a relatively uneventful life hanging out with friends, gossiping about boys, and driving her 1966 Mustang. All of that changes when she moves to Gunnison, Colorado, to start college and meets two mysterious men.

For centuries, Alex Night and Emil Stone have yearned for Evie—but they each have their own reasons for wanting to be with her. When both men claim to be her soul mate and tell her about an unbelievable past, Evie learns that she’s not the person she thought she was. Soon, Evie finds herself in the middle of an age-old battle between the Amaranthine Society—the soul protectors, and the Daevos Resistance—the soul destroyers. With a past she doesn’t understand, and a future rife with danger, Evie has to decide who she can trust. But Alex and Emil aren’t the only ones who want Evie, and her soul is about to become the rope in an eternal tug-of-war.
