The Proposition by Katie Ashley

I will gift a few more copies to those who have a kindle. I can email u a gift through Amazon Just cause I loved it that much!! Well this was an ARC and I read through the darn thing so fast! I admit I loved it! That being said the main reason was the fluff. Why would you not fall in love with the main character Emma? She was young had a great career, a few awesome friends, and a sad past. So Emma has her dream of meeting Mr. Wonderful. it doesn’t happen she feels her HEA is gone and she will never replace him. I think Trevor’s death took her so long to get over because that was her everything. I think that between losing her Dad at such a young age and then two years ago her Mom lost a battle with cancer, this made Emma feel the need to have a family of her own on her own. She figures why wait for “him” when she feels like nothing can match her true love, so she asks her gay best friend to “donate”. As you can imagine it has some witty and sarcastic banter. I love Emma’s best friend Casey who is engaged! She has some of the best lines. She holds nothing back and encourages Emma to give her nasty details all the time. Hilarious!

Wait I did say hilarious too soon. You know why? … here comes Aiden Fitzgerald! He works a few floors up from Emma and is a recent VP promotion recipient. He is drool, swoon, and get your panties off hot. All the girls love him, he is a man whore, a love them and leave them, and sex on a stick! So when he overhears her talking about a child, one thing leads to another and Aiden offers himself. He figures she knows the deal and won’t expect anything.

Well Aiden has a story and it is equally as sad. He has four lovely sisters and is the only boy. His Mom is deceased too and his Dad (who I love) is lonely. So you get a taste of the nephews, the sisters and the Father.

I loved the story and when I got to the end I was left there hanging. I am putting a threat in to the author asap. I need a sequel pronto. I know that the ARC was just missing the page where is says continued in …. the Proposition 2 right? I am really pretty invested in these characters. I want Casey to get her wedding and I want Jenny to date the cook at her restaurant and maybe I want a big gay wedding. So I feel like I know them and that is because is was one great freakin book!!

Just a few Quotes:

“So what you’re saying is Nate isn’t sex on a stick?” Casey chuckled. “Nate is barely sex on a low fat wheat-thin. But I sowed a few wild oats back in my day, so I’m totally satisfied with what I have.”

Emma pursed her lips thoughtfully. “Okay, here’s a really bad analogy for you. Aidan is like the Indy 500 of Sex, and I need someone who is more—” “Bumper cars?” “I was going to say the slow lane, smartass.”

Jailbird by Heather Huffman

Jailbird
First I will say I have sort of an author crush on Heather. I bought all of her other books because when I read two of her books I new I had to read the rest.

This story was a thriller! It opens with Neena escaping from jail. She is on the run, climbing through the forest, swimming the swamps in the bayou and scaring the crap out of me.It takes a while to find out why she was in prison. That is a BIG part of the mystery, it makes you turn the pages faster. At the end of her journey you will live through her heartache and fear again. It is very emotional. As far as the cops and jail is concerned she was dead, eaten by the gators. Unofficially, she ran into a wonderful family the Torres family took her in after she worked picking vegetable beside them. They all accepted her as a part of their own without asking any questions. It turns out everyone has a past that is just that past. In the small town, she meets Charlie the hot lawyer in the small town. Immediately he is taken by her. He is surprised too because his wife left him and his daughter Cara so he didn’t think romance for a long time. Right away Cara and Neena become a family.

Life couldn’t be more happier for Neena. Of course she is always haunted and her past catches up to her. The thriller starts again. The truth about Neena and her past come to surface. It was a great book. It showed a lot of history between the reservation, American Indians and how they live separated from a lot of American life.

Jailbird is thriller, suspense, and a great romance all wrapped up. I was drawn by Neena and her survival instincts. The best part was the strong families she encountered on the way through her journey.

My fave quotes:

“Good.” I kissed him so thoroughly that I hoped his toes curled. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” “Should you really have a boyfriend right now?” Conrad was waiting for me when I got back to his room. “Absolutely not. But I’m addicted to that man. He’s like crack.”

I vaguely recall Conrad handing me over to Charlie. I kind of remember what the pastor said. The vows were a little fuzzy. But then he kissed me in a way that promised endless tomorrows together. I didn’t stop to think about how far my life had come in six short months. I didn’t even care to dream about where it would be in six months more. I was completely and totally happy to exist in that moment.

“I pinch myself every day just to be sure I’m not dreaming. I’ve found heaven. I don’t want to wake up back in hell.”

Please read it!! Get Heather and stalk her, let her know she is great!!

TORN by Amber Lehman

TORN

Going out there and saying that this was one of my all time fave books. I was completely blown away! For the first time I actually wrote notes besides my kindle clippings. It was filled with so much emotion and angst. I HAVE A FEW AUTOGRAPHED COPIES LEFT

Where can I start without writing too lengthily? Well The book opens with a girl Krista who moves from Ohio to Orange County California. She is starting High School and is 14. On the first day she meets Carrie who is the first girl she sees when she shows up at 0 period. I think this is a Cali thing cause my kids did it. She is in a dance class and sort of hits it off with Carrie right away. Within a few hours she meets Brandon who appears to be Carries bf and they are making out to Krista’s embarrassment. Well it was all for show they are just really good friends. She meets Brandon, surfer, Mr rich, hot, smart and popular 16 year old. Along with Brandon she meets Ryan, Nick and Aeleise who is his girlfriend.

As they all settle into high school and get to know each other Brandon emerges as a very strong character. He is sort of intuitive and reads people well. It turns out Brandon a few really big reveals. His secrets and identity as a gay teen in the public eye as a sponsored surfer. He keeps that private. Once they hang out things happen between Carrie and Krista that leave them both questioning life, love and sex. They are now not afraid to talk and experiment which leads them on a pretty dangerous path. Several times I held my breath! In comes Aeleise who is Daemon’s sister and happens to be a hot 28 year old who teaches a small group bible study.

Many twists and turns take them from bff to hating each other, then back to friends. It is filled with so much emotion and at times it is hard to read. That is what I loved about it! Also what Krista deals with when she questions Daemon’s feelings towards her. Is he attracted to her or not? Then her and Carrie question their bond. Then the BIG OMG moment is when Brandon questions his entire life.

I cant express how glad I was that I read it. I saw some reviews that made me curse like a truck driver. I applaud Amber Lehman and as a Cali girl, she was so accurate it hurt! This is REAL life people and I will say it is by far one of the best books I have EVER read. PLEASE PLEASE support the author and go read it now!! hurry

Blame It on the Fame by Tracie Banister

Blame It on the Fame

OK where do I start to sing the praises of Tracie Banister? I am amazed this was her first book. The writing and imagination  to have five YES 5 simultaneous stories all going on surrounding the Oscar race is fab! For the stores we have the b*tch of all B’s Danielle. I wanted to smack her so many times. She was the epitome of selfish and she said things that shocked me so badly I wanted to throw the Kindle. She was married to a former tv star who was struggling to get back into the business. My clippings were filled with her smart remarks. There were so many that I read and sat there thinking ÖMG she said THAT?”

Then there was Anaya who was discovered in NY stealing a candy bar. She shot to fame, hit the bumps, fell pretty bad but dusted herself off. Her manager and the man that discovered her Robert was a dream boat. He did everything for her.

Then Laurel! her story was so earth shattering! Her husband grrr I wanted to get him in a choke hold and pluck his chest hair off one by one. That rotten SOB. Her kids were fab, her life, and career were equally as fab. Then the poor thing was hit with panic attacks and took a break to be in the quiet suburb of Avon. Her story was gripping and really pulled at the old heart strings.

Next is Phillipa and her love/hate Miles Nothing to say but I loved them. He was a swoon on Monday and Stab in the eyeball on Tuesday guy. Yeah I loved him big time!  Everything about them was total torture. I will add that they were loaded with naughty scenes too, I may have loved him cause of that. blushing

Last was Jordan. She was the product of a hot Hollywood couple who was known for actually acting well. She was extremely immersed in her roles and choosing them careful, not to make money. She didnt hand onto the family name for her fame. Her Mother had so many smart and funny lines I could have pissed my pants. When she comes out as being gay and ion love with her assistant Zoe her mom glosses over it and recommends a Japanese straightener for Zoe. How freakin Hollywood is that?

Together there was a ton of drama, heat, sacrifice and lust. Everything that makes the author a “gotta read” type of author. Just gushing right now. Ooops I highly recommend this one.

Taking Chances by Molly McAdams

Taking Chances

This was EPIC! Makes me so happy that I am who I am, a reader, a book enthusiast, and not a writer of anything but a posit it!There is so much I could say about the richness of the book, the characters, and their lives. The way that Bree and Harper were written was the most enjoyable part. Because of the grief and loss that surrounded Harper, she chose to come to California, here at SDSU she found her real friend and real family. I understood the “Sir” felt the way he did towards Harper. He was happy and when she was born her Mom dies during birth, so he was resentful. as Harper grew up she looked more and more like her Mom and that was his true love. He was a Sgt and he knew Military life nothing about raising a daughter. I don’t know many military men who wear their hearts on their sleeves. I was upset when  I saw people who criticized that part. He reacted exactly the way I expected a Marine in his position to react.  Brandon’s Mom and Bree’s Mom and Dad were so awesome. I think they were written in a way that you could imagine the perfect parents. If you think in your heart about perfect parents, what they would do and say, and love without conditions, then you’d find Mom (Claire) and Dad (Robert). Even the way Brandon’s Mom Carrie accepted Harper was unreal. I have 2 sons and I hope and pray that God gives me wisdom to be half as good and accepting as she was.

There was a lot of emotions and the subjects were tough, but it was soooo worth it!
