There are books full of great writing that don’t have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story… don’t be like the book-snobs who won’t do that.

Read sometimes for the words–the language. Don’t be like the play-it-safers who won’t do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book. – Stephen King

A lot of people ask me, “Why is a guy writing romance novels for women?” The answer is simple. Everyone falls in love. Even men. Imagine that. 😉

But it goes deeper than that. I write romance to explore and understand my own emotions.

No matter what most guys say on the subject, emotions are a part of the human experience for women AND men. Guys who deny their emotions, especially the difficult ones like sadness, grief, loss, and hurt, are missing out on a big part of life. Everyone has emotional scars. It’s impossible to make it from cradle to grave without getting banged up along the way. For all that pain, we can also heal ourselves.

My stories feature characters who are on a quest to heal their pain, and in the process, find love. We all know that a loving relationship can be a conduit for both partners to heal together. When that happens, it’s truly a beautiful thing.

It’s my hope that my readers can gain some perspective regarding their own emotional wounds, and perhaps heal in some small way by going through the emotional journey I went through while writing my stories.

Game Changer by Collette West @Collette_West #Review

game changer 22464513

Yet another book to love from Collette West. What I really like is the fact that it is a series but each book is a different couple that is connected through baseball. In other words it is a series with no cliffhanger and enough drama to keep ME happy.

Sasha and her brother Kyle play the baseball loving family siblings in a great way. Brooks is one of greatest guys. Why? He sorta likes his team mate Kyle’s sister but keeps his feelings suppressed so Kyle wouldn’t be upset.  Brooks has a lot going for him, so Sasha isn’t an easy mark. What Brooks doesn’t know is that she is into him too.

Now for the sad and emotional part of Kyle. Well Kyle has a heart condition and it doesn’t look good. Being Kyle is athletic and young it is hard to believe at first. I thought to the stories I hear in California where I live about kids who have undiagnosed heart conditions and die during practice for a spot. It made it really real.

Very good story, characters and romance. I loved this book as much as book one. So if you like romances with the emotional part then grab this one now.

Same plea as I made with book one, I am a basketball fan. Can I get a basketball book please??

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball’s biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette’s impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.

Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she’s not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

Vanquish by S.J. McGran @SJMcGran #Review #debut

I feel blessed to have found another fabulously written debut novel. This was just freakin great! I loved the characters so much but the writing was better. There were a few great treats like Zhoe and Jared the main characters. Zhoe is a grounded, smart and loving girl who goes to school and volunteers. What more could you want from a well off girl? OH the fact that she is well off but doesnt act like it. She drinks dark beer and eats famous “Lonestar burgers” I found her easy and relate able.
As for her best friend Angelica, she is the same way. They are great best friends and have a really good friendship. Right about the 30% mark I loved how the author paired these girls. They are not opposites, but share a lot of the fundamentals that balance a great friendship. There is A LOT of steam here. Very good and very well placed steam. I liked it and it was just the right amount, the right degree, and at the right times.

As for the men, well I loved Jared. His name alone makes we swoon. Jared is a construction worker and has a secret. The secret is BAD, YUP its BAD. The suspense waiting is about to reach maximum when the author dropped the bomb. Yes it was great.

Rico is Richard, so I loved the nic name there too. He is Jared’s best friend and they share a common bond, cant say what binds them but it is a great plot device.

Quotes I loved:

I know I don’t love her yet, but there is no doubt that I could love this girl. I could fall head over heels for her. I could love her with every ounce of my shattered soul if I’m not careful

JARED = SWOON

“I let my girl sleep somewhere other than my arms last night.”

S.J. McGran is a new author with a penchant for writing, reading and reviewing romance novels.

She lives in Toledo, Ohio with her husband, cat and lots of siblings. She is a die hard Detroit Tigers fan, and has a love for ice cream and pizza. Vanquish is the debut novel by S.J. McGran and is now available.

Chasing Me (Shaft on Tour Book 3) by Cat Mason @BTSPromosPR @cat_mason_2014 #review

“Temptations, betrayal, and lies are all mixed with booze, tattoos, sex, laughs, and love as the Shaft takes stage after stage.”

“Everyone has a story my pages are just a lot darker than most.”

“Lies and betrayal mix with banter, sex and bacon as Shaft prepares to release their new album and blow into the mainstream.’

If you have no read book one and two then YOU MUST STOP go grab them and enjoy! If you read books 1 and 2 then you know they are completed stories. So in other words the author wrote book one for Gray and Daisy and then was Aiden and Camaron. So it is a treat to have NO drama with cliffhangers. Just a simple bacon loving guy.

NOW here in his own book, the one I really adore, Hunter. Oh my oh my… since book 1 I have been drooling over him. Not only is he cute, funny and BAD, but he is lovable and adorable. So being my favorite I have to scream his praises.  I wanted him with Chase because she was his ideal.. So now it is Hunter’s staring role. There is a great treat in store for you all. A paternity issue, a love life, a dream and a family. All of which Hunter, my man is so deserving of.

Just imagine a bunch of little Hunter babies who are yelling bacon all over the house. I would love it. Well I’m too old but if I was younger Id take a chance on my cholesterol levels and ride the hog for Hunter.

Now let me say this series is a wonderful addition if you enjoy glamour and rock style. I would say if you were a Sinner fan then this is another series you will totally fall in love with. There is a lot of steam, but nothing too racy. That is why I love this author, she wrote a romance for some unbelievable rock stars.

Stayman, an enigma in Lainie’s close-knit group of friends, has been circling her with interest, trying to garner her attention. When circumstances make it clear who’s blocking his way—Mason—Stay goes full-court press in pursuit of Lainie.

Lainie doesn’t see Stay as relationship potential because she is blinded by her love for Mason. However, the more she learns about Stay, the more she comes to realize she never really knew him in the first place.

An unexplainable mystical connection evolves between Lainie and Stay and she has to choose between a man she so hopelessly loves and a man who offers her everything she needs.

Blakely Bennett grew up in Southeast Florida and has been residing in the great Northwest for over eight years. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in psychology, which accounts for her particular interest in crafting the personalities, struggles, and motivations of her characters. She is an avid reader of many genres of fiction, but especially erotica and romance. Writing has always been her bliss. She is attracted to stories of self-struggle and ultimate recovery. Blakely is married to a wonderful, loving and supportive husband, also a writer, who helps to keep her grounded. She is a mother, a communitarian, a lover of music (always on while she is writing—thank you, Pandora), and a good friend. An advocate of love and female empowerment, she is a facilitator for a women’s group. She loves to walk and hike for exercise and finds that, since moving to Seattle, WA, she is now one of those “crazy” people who walk in the rain.

Bittersweet Deceit (erotic romance) is her 6th novel. She is also the author of the dark erotic suspense, My Body Trilogy (My Body-His, My Body-His (Marcello) & My Body-Mine) and co-authored the contemporary romance, The Demarcation of Jack with her husband, Dana Bennett.

Will Red and Jacqs budding relationship pull apart their tight-knit group of friends and will Jacqs survive being Stuck In Between.

So this is original in the whole love triangle theme. I think it is poly-amory disguised as a love triangle. People who are living that poly amorous lifestyle do actually love more than one person. I have read other books by this author and I will say that while sometimes the cover and title seems like it will be good, she finds a way to make it totally unique. When I say this is a unique perspective on the whole love triangle theme it IS!

What I liked was the interesting twist that was Bond/Red/Jacqs. The author formed a character with Jacqs that was given a little more of a story background wise. We got her and her Mom worrying about her Sister and niece. So overall it was a group of friends that were given a starting foundation here so I hope it means more of a series with some of the characters taking the leading role.

For the Jacqs character, I liked her because she was torn between two men. She totally loved both of them. The author brings out her attraction to Bond while she is with him, when he is gone, she is hot and heavy for Red. So it keeps you thinking about them. What could things be like if they were together. When I say is together I mean all three.

I can see Lane/Lainie getting a story her own as well as Samantha. There is a lot to explore.

If you want something that is naughty but with a NEW twist then grab this one. I know for a fact that the concept, like this authors other books is very unique. I know after book 2 comes out there are going to be a few copy cat spin off types but this is original!

Destructive Release by LU Ann @authorluann #Review #GIVEAWAY

Destructive Release is the third and final book in A Destructive Novel Series and picks up where Destructive Choices left off. Keep in mind it is based on a true story. So therefore, the plot and actions/reactions ARE real and genuine.

In continuation of this story, Lacey is trying to deal with the loss of Devon. The last book left things off in a bad way. A plane, a crash, no bodies WTF How did I deal with waiting this long to find out? I dont know it wasn’t easy I filled myself with reading other books until this came out. So Do I say it or not? OK I will he was not dead. There would be hell to pay if he was!

The book takes a different approach from the moment Devon is discovered. The entire issue with Lacey and her past comes and manifest itself in her conscious mind. She goes overly cautious, which is to be expected. I love the wasy the author tells the mental illness tale. I hate using the word illness, cause it isn’t really an illness or is it? I think she attempts wholeheartedly to dissuade the stigma. What is wrong with people thinking that OCD, Anxiety, Depression and Bi-Polar disorder are bad? Do you know how many people take medication to sleep? To get over anxiety and panic disorders?   One in every 4 or about 121 million Americans. So that is in case anyone needs a number.

Lacey and Devon have together dealt with a lot and the next few battles in this book center around more than one serious mental health issue. It is enlightening and hard to read at times, because for anyone knowing a loved one affected, it is all too real. The choices Lacey makes for herself and sometimes her family have a greater effect than she knows.

This is a great book and I am thrilled to have been able to enjoy the first two. A definite must read!

*Warning* Not appropriate for audiences 17 years of age and under.

She lives in Colorado with her husband and two children. Moving from the lush landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore to the high desert plains of Colorado was a drastic change. She and her family moved to their own “Little House on the Prairie” at an elevation of over 6,000 feet above sea level, and a semi-arid climate that makes it hard to grow anything. While barely anything can grow where she resides now, the wildlife makes up for it. Mountain Lions, and coyotes, and rattlesnakes, oh my!
She tries to spend a little time each day writing, but domestic chores around the house usually take precedence. She would much rather hide them from her husband. She tends to her loving four-legged children who at times become much too demanding when she locks herself in the office. This often results in MORE domestic work, and she finds herself cleaning up after their deviant behavior.
She has always been an artist painting as a hobby to back drops in theatrical set designs. Graphic design is her guilty pleasure.
A Destructive Novel is a series of three books based on her life. They deal with heavy life issues and will have the reader begging for a happily ever after.

Meet Virginia (A Southern Series (Book 1) by Angela March @AngelaMarch3 #Review

review Image14 polaI really liked this debut; the solid plot, the characters and the family. For Virginia, her family is the root of all evil in her world. It seemed like I was wanting to know more and the bits of the past were given out in little crumbs. I always appreciate a long book and this had some meat to it. When Virginia leaves the city for her small town it is under the premise to help her family business. Structure wise there was a little edit needed for this. It seemed like she had plans but nobody knew what they were. All this poor girl got was opposition from all angles. She left her ex live in boyfriend Eli behind. There is a history there but it isnt too clear until about 70% but Eli was mediocre in the bedroom. Why was she with him? I dont know. So no spoilers but I never found out why she was with him. Ten years is a long time for that.
smiles question mark
In an all to familiar scenario, meeting Eli cause he is a contractor, now planning the family Bar Costello’s expansion, she meets Boone.

For the character of Boone, he was just right. I enjoyed his dialogue and even though he was younger, he had excellent communication skills. I dont know many men at 24 years old that would handle their business, working and their personal life the way he did.

Virginia’s Mom Sophia, her brothers Tony and Jimmy were all equally lacking in the communication department. All combined were the reason for Virginia to pop xanax and drink way too much Jack Daniels. I myself never have and yet while reading I longed to see what her fascination was with the amber colored liquor. No I never found out either.

smiles cocktails

Things were left off in a sort of cliffhanger, which I am not a fan of. Book 2 better come soon. If not for those kindle readers search the book for Boone scenes they are some of the juiciest I have read. Enjoy
