Grief and the service of our armed forces are at the center of this story. The author tells a tale that is heartbreaking good. I felt this family was in desperate need of help. Poor Madalynne. When her brother is killed she changed a great deal with her future goals now not so clear, Maddy needs to grieve. This loss coupled with the teen angst had me really emotional. Maddy and Parker are now facing a huge battle. Parker is still healing from his brothers suicide, which is bad enough and then the reveal. Why did he take his own life? SO gripping.

The author takes you on a grief journey with these two lovers and their parents. The author gives the direct point of views of both Maddy and Parker. Their world is too familiar nowadays. We as Americans see this type of event happen way too much. How can these two accomplish anything and be able to move on? Well the author takes you and guides you to the path towards healing.

There are a few characters that play a pivotal role here like Jacqueline and Lee. The two of them come into the story and bring even more angst. I really loved this book and I hope for a lot more from the author

I loved the Black Spear men. Sergei and Bear are true undercover operatives. They have a compound, are computer savvy, know all about weapons and they use them. They get Kara after she has been kidnapped. It is a very suspenseful tale. Now that Kara has come into their lives, they protect her from Lucio. She is a smart young girl working at her uncle’s lawfirm and planning on the bar exam. She is lured out with Lucio and kidnapped.. The author weaves a tale of an evil man, a cartel and a very sinister law office.

Since Kara has come into their lives, because of Lucio being on their cartel bad guy radar, she will be with the Black Spear men for a while. I loved the way the cartel is handled too. I think it added so much to the story and shows the way these organizations get their claws into people.

Very very well written. The plot was great! As an ex Navy Seal Sergei does his job well. When the cartel comes into radar, they put their plans for the compound on hold. So that is where the steam comes in. This is written fabulously into the plot too. They have a compound and a dozen cabins all with a “theme” TOO hot!

A few sub characters that I loved were Tilly and Bear. They are married and Bear is Sergei’s partner. Tilly is very kind towards Kara, seemingly understanding a lot. The story of Tilly is revealed and it is a huge one too. Tilly being Bear’s wife, has a role in the compound and that adds to the dynamic of Sergei completely. She calms Kara while caring for Bear and their “business” As for that we’ll well READ this NOW If you are a Pamela Clare fan then grab it. If you like tough guts with a naughty side, then YES buy it NOW

A New Beginning by Brenda Kennedy #Review @BrendaKennedy_

This was a pretty good debut. I am going to say please look at the cover, this is a trilogy, so know it before you begin. There is more to come and sometimes its a double edged sword getting in on book one. It sometimes takes a while to get book 2 and 3 so I don’t want to have to re-read this one. That said, I am not telling any tales or giving up a spoiler, this is gonna be a cliff hanger!

Overall I enjoyed the characters Mason and Angel. It was kind of a “fate” moment how they meet and fall for one another. Heading to Florida to get away from her ex boyfriend was a life changing moment and for me I like dark so I liked the abuse part. I think it endears Angel a little more.

The author also lets Mason be a gentleman. I sort of liked how the character was a doctor and had more bed-side manors than most, he was one of a kind and totally swoon worthy.

Fearless Love by Kennedy Kelly #review

The book starts after the tragic loss of Miles Cole, Audra’s husband. It is a sad story because of how he dies. I wont spoil it, but it was a shocker. The characters are different in the fact that they are a little older, Audra is 35 and a professor. She has a lot of life to live and she is in that transitional stage of grief. She is not a shut in, she goes about life and sort of just exists. I was glad that the author didnt create a great depression out of this character. She has some great friends that aid in trying to balance out her grieving process. The book starts with Audra on the cusp of healing from the loss of her husband Miles.

I liked Audra and of course Jace and Jackson, her children. Now, there is her best friend Quinn who was comic relief for me. Audra has a nickname for Quinn; she calls her “hooker”. Not ideal, but for Quinn I think it fits well. I laughed anyway and that is all that matters. It was good to have a funny and light character to balance both Audra and Brecken. When the girls go out she runs into Brecken and it turns out he took one of her classes. He is a few years younger, but lucky for me nothing huge. I am glad he was self-sufficient.

Audra was a professor but that aspect of her life wasn’t really spoken about much. She wasn’t an old English professor reading Hamlet so for that I was thankful. She was the perfect blending of smart, sexy and well read. It was an enjoyable read that made me smile even though grief was the main subject.

Brecken comes to give an estimate for work to be done on Audra’s house. I was sort of glad that she was doing a little remodel, I think it was helping the healing process. So hottie Brecken enters to give an estimate. Great story there. Some pretty emotional parts, making it worth the read! The end of the book meant the end! Another book completed, no series or cliffhanger. There was yummy steamy scenes too.

My teachers would call home not because I was in trouble but because I had a creative imagination and they wanted my parents to know about the crazy stories I was writing. I’ve always been a hard worker. I started working with my family’s company when I was 15 and still haven’t stopped. I am a wife, mother of two, hold down a full time job and am now trying to be an indie author. I have a passion for reading and before I started writing I could be found with a Kindle in my hand morning, noon and night. I’m a picky reader so it’s hard to please me but I feel like I have a keen eye for a good book.

I hope you all will join me on my new journey as I release my first book Fearless Love. It can be very scary but with my passion for the written word I hope it will be well worth it.
