OLM Final Title Lock up

They say high school will be the best years of your life.

It’s a lie.

Lexie and Dylan used to be the best of friends. That all changed the summer before freshman year when their mothers skipped town together without explanation.

When the scandal broke and fueled the school rumor mill, it branded Lexie as an outcast. For three excruciatingly long years, she faced endless torment by heartless bullies in her class.

It wasn’t long after his mother left that Dylan ran headlong into a slippery slope of self-destruction. As he rose to the top of the social ladder, he turned his back on Lexie and used bitter resentment to hide his pain.

When the two are forced to spend the summer together, tensions run high, but emotions run higher as the former best friends struggle to navigate the uneasy months ahead. But even if Lexie and Dylan can find their way back to each other, can either learn to forgive their mothers when the truth behind their leaving comes out?

The Hard Count by Ginger Scott @TheGingerScott @wordsmithpublic #Cover #reveal

THE HARD COUNT
Mature YA Contemporary Romance-Stand Alone
Scheduled to release: July 15, 2016
synopsis book stacks (2)

Nico Medina’s world is eleven miles away from mine. During the day, it’s a place where doors are open—where homes are lived in, and neighbors love.
But when the sun sets, it becomes a place where young boys are afraid, where eyes watch from idling cars that hide in the shadows and wicked smoke flows from pipes.

West End is the kind of place that people survive. It buries them—one at a time, one way or another. And when Nico was a little boy, his mom always told him to run.

I’m Reagan Prescott—coach’s daughter, sister to the prodigal son, daughter in the perfect family.
Life on top. Lies.
My world is the ugly one. Private school politics and one of the best high school football programs in the country can break even the toughest souls. Our darkness plays out in whispers and rumors, and money and status trump all. I would know—I’ve watched it kill my family slowly, strangling us for years.

In our twisted world, a boy from West End is the only shining light.
Quarterback.
Hero.
Heart.
Good.
I hated him before I needed him.
I fell for him fast.
I loved him when it was almost too late.

When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West End.

Breaking Braydon by MK Harkins @mkharkins #review

breaking braydon 23621649

review Image6

I enjoyed the book mostly because it was an easy read. There was not a lot of angst. For me, Jain was a little different as was her issue. The fact that Jain felt she had to mask her beauty to become a somebody in her profession was new and fresh. The idea that a pretty girl with these fantastic eyes couldnt be taken seriously, though different I am sure doesnt happen often. As for the rest of her story, well I appreciated the fact that the girl was motivated by her Mother’s disease to work hard to find a cure.

medical-research

The story of how Braydon got to be the character we read about was different too.

young-love-1

Sometimes superficial things motivate girls to get their hooks in a guy. So many times Braydon has wondered if someone likes him because of his place in society or his money, but definitely not him. That is so sad to me. Braydon finds a way to combat that. Braydon was cool but to me Jain was the star.

I have always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, I decided to write the kind of book I would like to read. This resulted in the creation of my debut novel, Intentional.
I am currently working on a sequel based on the life of one of Intentional’s supporting characters.

Fall of Knight by Steven Cross @stevecrosswords #CoverReveal @RomanceAddict13

Title: Fall of Knight
Author: Steven Cross
Genre: YA psychological thriller
Publisher: Booktrope Publishing
Release Date: April 7th, 2015

A normal teenager Dean Knight is not.

With a mental illness that threatens to take over his sanity; a sister who’s deep in her own problems; and a wasted mother who couldn’t care less about it all, Dean is left to battle real life on his own. School, bullies and medications are his realities.

Then there are also the ghosts, the hallucinations and of course – the monster.

In the middle of it all, when everything seems to lose purpose, hope comes shining down on Dean’s miserable life. Her name is Ella and for one reason or another, she actually wants to be close to Dean. With Ella’s help, the lost teenage boy decides that he could finally win a battle or two – both in real life and in his writing.

But hope is a tricky thing. And the monster seems to know that.

When secrets buried down for almost a decade come out in the open, what do you do?

Steve Cross’s first successful writing project was a play about a werewolf that his eighth grade English class performed. Though the play was never published, the warm fuzzy feeling from its public performance has never quite left Cross, who continues to sink his teeth into a variety of writing projects. His first publication was a haiku, followed by two middle grade novels published by POD publishers and a young adult novel published by Buck’s County Publishing.

A fanatical St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan; a lover of all kinds of YA fiction, as well as the writings of Dean Koontz and Stephen King; a fan of all kinds of music – from Abba to the Zac Brown band, Cross dreams of the day he will write a best-selling novel or sell a screenplay for seven figures, so he can retire and write more best-selling fiction.  Until that day, he and his wife Jean, Missourians born and bred, will continue to toil in the field of education and live in peace with their two dogs and two cats and wait around until their daughter Megan and son-in-law Sean give them grandchildren to spoil.

Title: Who We Were
Author: Christy Sloat

Genre: YA, Contemporary Romance

Publication: September 15th, 2014

“Who we were had washed away with the summer. Who we are was yet to be seen.”

Summer school at Alcott High was only supposed to gain Sadie Peters extra credit, nothing more. Her goal wasn’t to make friends, or gain the attention of the most popular football player, yet she managed both. Her life was cruising along on course … until that summer.

Could a simple stint in a different school change her identity completely and introduce her to love for the first time? How would that affect her relationship with Lily, her best friend?

Hopefully their friendship was strong enough to make it through the tumultuous summer. Sadie learns that great things come with change, but sometimes memories of the past are hardest to part with.

Excerpt

I entered the lunchroom and met Nash at the same table as yesterday. He gave me a huge smile, but that was all. No hug or kiss on the cheek. Okay, fine. I set down my lunch tray that held pizza, an apple and an orange juice. Not exactly healthy, but I tried. Nash sat with me and ate his pizza, but he didn’t engage in conversation with me. Instead he sat and talked to Oliver and some other kid named Henry, who I learned played ball with them. I was secure enough to realize that Nash and I weren’t a couple; we were just getting to know each other. So, I would just need to cool it and not get upset by his ignoring me. I mean really, was he ignoring me on purpose or perhaps just busy with his guy friends? I chose the latter.
“Oh, you sit here too?” I looked up to see the shaggy haired boy sit across from me. I scowled at him and said, “I was invited to sit here. Why are you here?”
I dropped my pizza on my plate and realized I had an audience. All the boys at my table were now watching me engage in a fight with this rude ass across from me. “Last I checked this was my team’s table. Is that okay with you or should I ask Nash for permission?” What a complete jerk-face!
“So I see you’ve met Nolan, my brother.” Nash laughed.
“Wait! What?
This kid is your brother?” I asked confused.
Nolan laughed and said, “The one and only Nolan Rylan at your service. Twin brother of the oh-so-fabulous Nash Rylan. And before you say, ‘But you don’t look like him,’ it’s because we’re not identical twins.”
I found myself with my mouth hanging open and closed it quickly. I couldn’t believe it. Nash had a twin brother. The more I stared at Nolan, the more I noticed slight similarities in their appearance. Nash had dark hair and so did Nolan. Their
smiles were the same, big white teeth grins. Their eye color wasn’t the same though. Nash’s were crystal blue and Nolan’s were honey brown. Nash dressed casual like his personality, easy going. Nolan was crisp and clean. And from his personality, it didn’t seem to match. He really threw me when he put on his glasses and pulled out our homework assignment right
there at the table. He leaned back, ignoring me with ease, and read. I couldn’t help but stare at him. He wasn’t a football player. No way.
“You play football?” I inquired. He looked up from his book, and I felt a strange sensation. The other guys went back to talking and ignoring me. “Why is that hard to believe? Do I look like a nerd to you?”
I looked at his body. No, not really. He was fit enough, but he was slightly nerdy. Between
his well-manicured nails to his brown high end shoes, it was hard to picture
him in a football uniform.
“You just dress so … so,” I struggled.
“So, nicely perhaps? Not like a jock, I know. But thanks for noticing.” He pulled his book higher and did as the other boys did, ignored me.
