Ion 417: Raiju by James Darcey @lovingthebook

 Let’s get to know James!

James was born in the middle of a tropical swamp on the third planet orbiting a distant yellow star. Growing up
the son of a military father meant that books were among the best friends he could have. They traveled with him every time he moved, and took him on adventures that nothing short of a trans-dimensional portal could hope to achieve.

Currently he resides in a place called Utah, on the shores of a dead sea, with his wife and fellow author Molly. His
days are spent catering to the whims of machines that devour people whole, and regurgitate them at distant locations. At other times he is working on his writing. The current projects include continuing the adventures of Ion in the fourth book of the series, adding to his epic fantasy series, and the saga of the Stargate Thieves.

Ion was born and raised in a secluded  world, with only a sadistic doctor and his lizard lackeys for company. Her education came from carefully selected material provided by her tormentor, and the best entertainment was the exercise machine in her small room. It was the
only world she knew. The one thing that made her different than hundreds of others in similar situations, was that Ion held a power within her that was growing stronger week by week. He knew she had the power despite her efforts to hide it from him. He had created her just for that power. He was training her, but for what she didn’t know. The only thing she had going for her was that he didn’t know how strong she was getting.
Then by sheer chance, she discovered the truth of her existence. More than just the sinister plans he had for her
future as his mind-wiped assassin. She had family. A family he had stolen from
her.
With this discovery, she made plans of her own. Plans that had her traveling across half
the galaxy in search of her mother’s people. It’s a long and dangerous journey
for an inexperienced girl. How well can she trust her happenstance companions?
What welcome will she find at her journey’s end?

House Trained by Jackie Bouchard @JackieBouchard #Review

house trained 51zJoqmoQuL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_
This book was so good! I loved how there were parts that were funny, serious, and sad. Our main character Alex is just lovable and constantly feels the need to tell people she doesnt want kids. For her and Barry, her husband, it was not a debate, both felt the same. A lot of the book has smart quips making Alex even more humorous. So the big issues between Alex and Barry are basically secrets and sort of secrets. When Marie comes knocking with the claims that she is his kid, it is shocking.shocking most p186617_b_h3_aa
The author takes you through the drama of a wife with a secret and a husband that has one too. Now I will say that each secret is probably as damaging to the relationship. The story of Marie is like WOW. Then Marie tells Barry and Alex about her choice when the decision to have Ruthie comes into her life. I was in tears. She is amazing.
 composting-for-kids
The light moments are all about Barry and Alex debating Marie’s “greeness” I had to laugh so many times. Marie is a vegetarian and has some ideas about their composting. OMG too cute.
Also I have to give honorable mention to Marie- the Labrador poodle mix. Her character takes center stage as this couple tries to navigate a new era in their family. I am a dog lover myself, so their debates over how choices will influence and effect Marie are too funny!

Jackie Bouchard (www.jackiebouchard.com) writes Fido-friendly fiction. She used to be trapped in the hamster wheel of corporate America, but she was lucky enough to escape and now fully understands the term “struggling writer.” Jackie loves: reading, writing, and, yes, even ‘rithmetic (seriously, algebra rocks); professional cycling; margaritas; blogging (she never thought she’d say that, but she does); dogs in general, and her crazy rescue pup specifically; and her hubby. (Not in that order.) Jackie dislikes: rude people and writing about herself in the third person. After living in Southern California, then Bermuda, then Canada, then the East coast, Jackie and her husband settled in San Diego. American Jackie, her Canadian hubby, and her Mexican rescue mutt form their own happy little United Nations. Jackie’s novels include “What The Dog Ate” and “Rescue Me, Maybe.”

Reese secretly takes matters into her own hands hoping to save her parents from additional worry and prove herself capable of running the company. Christmas Makeover by Cami Checketts Amazon bestseller

Chelsea Jamison has been infatuated with Drew Stirling longer than she’s loved playing basketball, high-top sneakers, and the Knicks. Unfortunately, all Drew sees is the kid who kicked his trash in the high school free throw contest and not the girl whose heart breaks into a fast dribble when he’s near.

Drew makes an unexpected visit home to Echo Ridge and their friendship picks up where they left off as they scheme to make a teenaged boy’s Christmas dreams come true. When Chelsea realizes she’s fallen for her best friend, she wonders if there is any hope of a relationship with Drew or if she’s stuck in buddy-status for life.

Hope for Christmas by Rachelle J. Christensen Amazon bestseller

Anika Fletcher hates Christmas–its promises of good tidings and hope for the future are as tinseled as the ornaments on Kenworth’s Hope Tree. Despite her feelings, Anika wants to maintain her daughter’s faith in the magic of the season and gladly accepts a second job working with the handsome Carlos Rodriguez to restore Kenworth’s old fashioned soda fountain. Carlos is no stranger to hard times and slowly shares his life of light and joy with Anika as they work together. Just as her fragile soul begins to feel hope again, an ill-timed act of charity changes everything. Anika isn’t sure who she can trust or if hope is worth nurturing–especially at Christmas when it’s easy to enjoy a kiss and believe love can last longer than the season.

Soda Fountain Christmas by Connie E. Sokol Amazon bestseller

Keira Kenworth has one focus this holiday season: save her father’s old-time department store from bankruptcy. She is not focused on Tayton Wells, the tall, dark, and genius marketing guru from downtown New York, hired to make it happen. He is as doubtful that her nostalgic connect-the-town ideas will succeed as she is about his numbers-first plan. However, it’s not just their different approaches that cause sparks to fly. Working together on a fast deadline to save the store before Christmas, the unspoken connection between them grows. But will the tough decisions they face drive them back to their separate worlds, or will they lead to the beginning of love?

One Winter Night by Heather Tullis Amazon bestselling author

Jonah Owens thought moving to Echo Ridge to open his art gallery would solve all of his problems. The need to sell his grandma’s house adds an unexpected complication. It would be easier if his neighbor didn’t have all those farm animals.

Kaya Feidler’s family has owned their land for nearly a hundred years–long before the neighbors were there. There’s no way she’s giving up the animal therapy business she’s been struggling to make profitable. She gets a temp job helping Jonah in the gallery. Spending time together is a recipe for romance, but can they overcome their own hangups to be more than friends?

Let’s take a look at the 5 authors that put this together!

Wild Cards (The Twisted Series 3) by RC Stephens @rcstephensbooks #Review

review 39

Having read the entire series, I know Luc. Yes I didn’t know if there could be any redemption for him. While I understood being brought up in the mob couldn’t have been easy, I struggled for a little with his character. I was wrong. the author flipped the entire character and made me fall for him. What happened with the mob family in the past makes me conflicted with hating Luc. ExpectTheUnexpected

The story of Vicky was DARK. OMG I loved it. Yes it was a bit edgy and that is why I enjoyed reading it. What a messed up life Vicky had. I was thrilled the way it played out.

what are ypu waiting for 3

There is an awful lot of this to love so grab book 1 and get going. The writing style is great, the story was great, it was steamy and dark, so what are you waiting for?? Read it now

Wild Cards (The Twisted Series 3) by RC Stephens @rcstephensbooks

wild 51zRo5nBFCL._SX329_BO1,204,203,200_

synopsis 39

She grew up with love but tragedy took everything away from her.

He was forced into a life that he hated and was drowning in darkness.

They both lost hope…

They both looked for ways to numb the pain…

To him, she was unpredictable and alluring.

To her, he was a dark knight with a shady past.

What happened next was unexpected. Their chance encounter was not chance anymore.

As their worlds collide and their impenetrable walls are infiltrated, these two dark souls are forced to face the one thing on earth that scares them the most…

Love.

***This is a standalone novel and does not need to be read with books one and two of the Twisted Series.
***Warning-For mature audiences only.
As a reader myself, I know how important it is to be aware of ‘hot button’ issues that could trigger painful memories for some. Wild Cards is a love story of the greatest and most epic proportions. However this love story faced many bumps in the road and in order to tell Luc and Vicky’s story I needed to touch on the scene of aggravated sexual assault. I feel it is my job to advise the reader of this violent episode. This aspect does not define the whole story and the book is not about violence rather about two dark souls saving each other while finding true love.
