Ali Philips never thought anything could be more devastating than the day Levi and Tucker Corbin, her two best friends—her only friends—moved away. Three years passed without a single phone call, text message, or email from them and she’s resolved to the fact that she will probably never see them again. Until one morning when she comes face-to-face with Levi Corbin in physics class.

Little does she know, the Corbins have returned to Haldeen with only one thing on their minds: winning Ali’s heart. Ali soon finds herself in the middle of a love triangle she doesn’t want any part of. As she tries to reclaim the friendships she’s lost and to adjust to the unfamiliar feelings she’s having, she struggles with making the one decision that will forever change their lives: Levi or Tucker Corbin?

She’s always had a special bond with Tucker and feels most comfortable when she’s with him. But Levi brings her to life in a way she didn’t think was possible and makes her feel things she didn’t think she would ever feel. Torn between the two, Ali is certain of only one thing–by the time it’s over, she’ll lose one of her best friends.

A Night to Forget is the first book in the two-book series, Emma’s Story. The second book in this series, The Day to Remember is scheduled to be released in 2013.

What happens in Cancun doesn’t always stay in Cancun.

When Emma Anderson and her friends decided to spend their senior year Spring Break in Cancun, she expected some crazy memories to end their final college days. What Emma didn’t expect was to meet Brandon Fisher. Tall and sexy, with dimples that would make any girl swoon, Brandon Fisher was literally the man of Emma’s dreams. She couldn’t quite believe that this stranger, who seduced her every night in her dreams, actually existed.

After serendipitously bumping into each other, Emma could not resist Brandon’s pull and spent an unforgettable night with him. Passing it off as a spring break fling, Emma never expected to see Brandon again. But when she started her first day at her new job a few months later, there he was. The only problem was, Brandon didn’t even remember her.

About this author

Jessica Wood writes new adult contemporary romance and chick-lit.

While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.

She loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and extremely independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom.

She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.

And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.

The one thing she wished she had more of is time.

First Kiss by Ann Marie Frohoff @rockinwriterchk #review

ENTER to win I am giving away five copies of both books in the series

First Kiss (A Heavy Influence Novel, #1) Well I am so sad to end this book. I will say BEST BOOK I have READ.When you write a review and think about a character for a day to decide what to write that is when it is EPIC. The blending of love, angst, hate and heart break was perfect. When you say this was a five star book it means something left a great impression on you, the characters spoke, the author had style and communicated the message perfectly. This was the case for me. Even though I gasped and cursed it is a sign that the message was there. What I loved was of course the main characters. You MUST read book 1 it is short and it pissed me off that it was short, but it was just a set-up for this book. I got done last night and I actually sat here thinking all day what to write. This was the best book. I hope you know I dont say that often but I was so touched by it. So Jake and Alyssa live next door to each other and were besties growing up and then things took off for Jake and his band. So they just passed each other and then BAM fate happens and they started to talk again. Should I tell you who else I loved? Ok I loved Rachel, yeah I know right? She was with Jake in a momentary lapse in judgement at the beginning of the book. Not giving a spoiler here. Anyways she is the girl you love to hate. I did hate her and I tried so hard to think what if I was in her shoes, desperately in love with Jake, helping him and the band for 2 years, and then sex, drama and no relationship. But I loved how the authors style made me sympathize and then totally hate her to the point I wanna stab her with a pencil repeatedly. Alyssa’s sister who is older, yes I was made me dislike her too. The Allison story was great once her reveal came. I was wondering why I just “didn’t like” as opposed to I hated her. Kyle was my dude. How he loved his sister and covered for her and let her see Jake, well it makes me wish I had a brother.    I loved the Nicole and Nadine- the dialogue the friendship. A girl needs best friends like that. I think of my girls in Brooklyn and we were/still like that. There were so many memories that came back when I was reading their little gossip fest topics. 5b804-jakeandallyimageforfkbookcover Marshall and Bobby were so good.Bobby in the band as well as Mike (grrr growling like a pitbull) and Dumpster aka Dump. All of them had the best supporting roles. Now there was Sienna too. She was Dump’s girl and Rachel’s bff. Now she was a BFF but there is a big BUT, she was so fair and called Rachel out on things. Dump did too, he was a neanderthal but to Sienna, OMG he loved her. Aly and Jake were so perfect. I could care less about the age difference. The sneaking around and the drama was great. Notting (English dude with a really strange name)and Kate were very complex too. Jakes Dad passed away a long time ago. His Mom and his manager “had a thing” but they never made anything big or official. It has to be read and discussed. The author is golden! She has so many fantastic tunes in the book and they are going to come out too. Squeals if delight! I loved the songs! I want it to be big. We have to do something to get the word out. I am doing my part for sure. So the last reason is the story of love, health, growing up and redemption. We all fall down and some of us dont get up for a while. Some of us bounce right back. The story of love is epic and one that must be read. I know people would dis agree, but sometimes you do find the one.I feel like I am babbling but I love Jake. 5 stars This is a passage and it shows the depth that I look for in a book: “The sun hung low, casting a hue of golden tones over everything it touched. It was a luminous late afternoon and the intense heat was finally subsiding. Staring at the water, I wanted to go swimming. I was overwhelmed with mixed emotions, and the water would be a soothing remedy. I felt drunk. Drunk love, was that what I was high on? Was I in love? Was this what being in love felt like? I was almost certain it was”   HOW long until the next book??? The Fall???

The Author extraordinaire:

ann marie frohoff 5211881

Ann Marie (“Annie”) Frohoff grew up in sunny Southern California. As a teen and young adult she spent her time frequenting and living in nearly every beachside city up and down the coast. She settled in Hollywood at 19 working in film and TV. Soon her itch to keep moving took over again, taking her to Hawaii for a time and then back to LA. She’s now settled in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Her wanderlust and propensity to live life out loud has brought her many life experiences so many of us only dream about. Always the storyteller, it would be of no surprise to those who grew up with Annie, that she made the transition into a book and screenplay author. You could say that she woke up one day and had an epiphany, deciding to go to school for screenwriting. It’s with this inner fire she set out to write her first screenplay. Soon after, such work made it into the hands of an agency creative executive who challenged her to write a novel to support the complex ensemble cast of characters she’d created. Thus, after only a couple of years and many hours on the road immersing herself in her subject matter; her edgy modern day “Walk The Line meets John Hughes Classics” debut novella, SKID OUT, has been completed, along with the first installment in her Trilogy. SKID OUT is the prequel novella to the HEAVY INFLUENCE TRILOGY. The first installment in her Heavy Influence Trilogy, FIRST KISS, is set to release June 11th 2013 — The series is a story about young, reckless love between a rising rock star and his younger muse, spanning 10 years of their tumultuous and passionate relationship. Each book in the Trilogy will come with a soundtrack of original music, of which the lyrics will appear in the pages of the books. (Alternative Rock Genre). Annie has now also delved into the supernatural fantasy world with her writing partners Shaun Barger and songwriter/musician Matthew Reich. Taking inspiration directly from song lyrics and building an entire realm of vastly complex characters and plot lines; weaving history, fantasy and heavy doses of romance together. You will be kept turning the pages of “The Zodiac Wars: My Gemini” novellas and “Precious Metal: The Prince and the Gypsy” book series. Both series of books are currently in development. Beside Your Heart
by Mary Whitney
“It’s an emotional story that will take the reader back to those feelings that made the late teen years such a powerful time.”

Late one night Nicki Johnson plays with emotional fire and Googles her high school love, only to find his name splashed across the British gossip columns. Back in his native England, Adam Kincaid is successful and dating a woman from an aristocratic family like his own. With a career in politics, Nicki’s no slouch, but she knows Adam is living a world away from her life.

Yet there was a time he was no farther than the next locker. Nicki will never forget their year together in high school—the year of her sister’s death, the year her mother checked out. Adam helped Nicki through suffocating grief, and she led him through a coming of age. Was it just high school, or was it something more?

Review:

I really enjoyed this book. The overall angst is what draws me in all the time. Nicki and Adam had a great connection. Nicki had a lot of things to deal with and it was equally as mental and physical. Suffering such heartbreak Nicki was at the lowest point. Sometime you think about someone like Nicki being so young and having to have to deal with very adult issues. I don’t know how I would do in the situation.

What got me ready to scream was Adam and his future. How can he have a girlfriend and worry about staying here in the states? That was another persistent part of my angst. I hope other readers will see that point too. I was thinking why bother, then the other hand saying, yes figure it out later. So there was a grappling between staying and what was going to happen for me.

Aside from Nicki and Adam, the story had really good structure and sub characters. I know the age thing is difficult, but, as an older woman it did remind me of some long ago issues. What I know for sure is the YA and NA audience will grab this one up. What I HOPE for is for the romance and contemporary fans to take a dive into the genre too.

Love and the Punk Rock Grrl by K.H. Alynn

love and the punk rock grrl 17789262

Book Description
Publication Date: April 7, 2013
It’s 1982, and 17-year-old Rudi Weiss is a tough girl living in the tougher streets of Irvington, NJ–with her life centered around alienation, drugs, and punk rock.

Though this changes when she’s caught selling pot and given a choice: either spend the rest of her childhood in juvenile detention or move in with an ex-Marine and his family in the nearby affluent suburb of Maplewood.

There at the local high school, the wild and free-thinking Rudi disrupts the entire established order. And she especially disrupts Tommy Goodwin, a rich and popular preppy who’s seemingly her opposite.

But underneath their veneers, they are much the same–two lost souls desperately in search of something. And when they find it, it explodes everything around them.

Something that’s only exasperated when Rudi’s past catches up with them, in this magical and bittersweet tale of unexpected love.

Available exclusively at Amazon, Love and the Punk Rock Grrl is the first in a series of books about a larger-than-life woman with lots of attitude, and even more soul.

Review:

I am never critical to an extreme so I get a pass on this one I think anyways. The book surprised me and it was good. It was the cover. If I was back in the day at a book store and saw the cover I dont think I would even look at the cover to see what it was about. That makes me sad. This needs some marketing and it will be pretty popular.

The premise that starts with Rudi and drugs is pretty good too. Rudi, a female punk rock chick gets arrested for selling drugs to an undercover cop. Growing up in this era it was a draw for me. I won’t go and give you a mini book here. I will say that the arrest is a change in Rudi’s path. The consequences and punishment cause a chain reaction of gossip, ridicule, and her own self doubt. Of course when you read it you will understand the choice she makes cause way too much doubt and constantly thinking “what if”.

The interest in Tommy is cool too. He is different and persistent to say the least. I guess it is sort of the bad girl appeal at first. I wonder if that was a draw for me too.

I am thrilled I read it and hope to see more from this author!

Hope Breaks
by Alice Bello
Hope Jones has two problems: one is new, the other is depressingly old.

The new problem: the bestselling author the publisher she shoots romance novel covers for hates her newest batch of covers. She has until the end of the week to come up with a breathtaking shot or she’ll be replaced. And there’s a sudden model shortage; they’re out of season.

The old, depressing problem: she hasn’t had a date, sex or a relationship in over two years.

She also has one hell of a headache.

Hope finds the cures for her two problems during a search through Wal-Mart for a painkiller to kill her headache.

Turns out the aisles of the retail giant are rampant with hot young model worthy specimens. And when her trusty Ford Taurus breaks down in the parking lot, a hunky mechanic in the Tire and Lube Express department fixes more than just her car.

Seemingly her troubles are good as gone…but then her new, fabulous cover is rejected, and in a desperate moment she has to choose between keeping her job and keeping the man she’s just starting to fall in love with.

“Let me introduce myself. I’m forty–which isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I live to read and love to write. I love romance, comedy, brooding and sparkly vampires, and I love pizza. I have a dog named Jack, and I work somewhere I have to wear a blue top and brown pants (you can probably guess).
I’ve just written my first romance. Erotic, funny, about 35,000 words, so it’s a novella, and hopefully a good one. I’m working to get it reviewed while I write the second part. I’m planning on having three 30,000 words novellas in the series.

March by Sunni Overend @SunniOverend #debut #review

March official book trailer

What is in a title? Apple March, hence the title March. I loved the cover. I really enjoy seeing something so professionally done that it looks very visually appealing. Sometimes you can judge the book by the cover. In this case it was true. The book was a great debut. This book is written by an Aussie. So for us American people, the grammar and the punctuation are not the same. I hate when I read a review and people turn into the grammar police without knowing that they don’t “quote” the way we do. So for the narratives, get that rule before you jump in.

anna wintour quotes

Apple went to the country’s most prestigious fashion school. It is like saying I am working for Anna Wintour, or I am pulling for Harper’s Bazaar. That is the primo kind of school Apple went to. For now she is behind the register at a retail store. At 29 that is nothing to be happy about, but she is content. Why? OMG you know I want to squeal. Now there is a reveal that gets the spark back in Apple. Something happens to make her realize her dream,s. Her best friend Jackson has some of the BEST one liners and I must create another post for her. There is a secret, that has been holding her back and so is the threat of her past.

smiles question mark

Take a journey from Melbourne to New York and Paris with Apple. If you are a fashion lover and have ever read Vogue, this is your cup of tea. When you are at a style house the creative flow is really minimal, it is about the line and the designers view. Apple wants her own vision and of course what else, but the one man to share it with.

anna wintour
A really great example of the fashion world from a design standpoint. I think the author wrote a genre appealing book. It is a pleasure to read such a fine example with such a fine future ahead of her. I can not wait to see what she will write next. A debut like this, you don’t want to miss.

The Bow Wow Club by Nicola May @NicolaMay1 #review

the bow wow club 17796110

As per my usual starting sentence, I love me some chick lit. Yes I love the style in which Nicola May writes. Mostly I enjoy the “real” aspect. Because it is sad, humerus and sexy, but not over the top. The people in her books are not wealthy, millionaires who flaunt or voluptuous woman. They are very relate-able to me. The main character is Ruby and she is at a turning point in her life. Tragedy strikes and it is a great exploration of loss. I feel so bad for her losing her husband! He was the love of her life in such a way that it hurts to read that part. smiles angel

The sub characters like Fiona (Fi) are just the remedy for what ales poor Ruby. It is a VERY touching story. After Ruby is at her lowest who comes charging in? Fiona, strong, loving,  and demanding. She surely gets Ruby out of the slump and back into the game. Ruby goes to a group Bow Wow Club (Boyfriends of Widows, Wives of Widowers). Therapy and a HUGE reveal change Ruby’s future forever. When Ruby meets Michael I was hopeful. I thought maybe it was too soon but he was good medicine. (gushing here at the racy scenes) It goes up and down and then you gasp out loud at the reveal.happy jumping smiley5

Overall I think this has been her best book so far. I see the difference in emotions and character development. She keeps you guessing about a few things and that is the build up I like in a book. I enjoyed this book more than The School Gates and Better Together. I did not think that was possible. Better Together was equally as sexy as this one.

I made the banner and I LOVE IT!! Not as much as the book. So was it THAT good. Better than great! I have so much planned to get Crystal’s book out there. The ONLY way is to give it away. Click the book’s picture in the sidebar. For 1 day I am giving away ….. Im a giver and feeling generous so I will say 5 copies

Evelyn Beaumont can’t remember anything from the time she was 14 until she was 19. She lost five years of her life because of brain cancer. Now she is a 20 years old survivor and enrolled in college, determined to reclaim her life. There she meets Tristan Monroe, but it isn’t the first time they’ve met. In fact, Tristan and Evelyn were once in love. It was a love so strong that it shattered him when, after the three years they had spent together, she never came back to Laguna.

Evelyn wants nothing more than to have her memories back. With the help of Tristan and his brother Drake, they take Evelyn on an emotional journey filled with videos, photos, and memorabilia…a walk down memory lane.

While they stroll down memory lane, Evelyn must learn to deal with Tristan’s rock star fame and the ever-present groupies. She struggles to find herself and to learn to love again.

Is their love strong enough to overcome the memory loss? Is it strong enough to survive whatever comes their way? Will all the proof Tristan shares with her be enough to show her how deeply they loved each other? Will love find Evelyn once again?

Review

This was just a phenomenal book. There is so much to say about the writing, the characters and the scenery. I am fortunate to live in Orange County and if you read it you will want to visit Laguna Beach. The synopsis tells you enough about the journey. This will not be a review that gives you a description or synopsis. I am not a fan of those. What I’d like to say is Tristan and Drake are dreamy guys! The families and friends that have just gravitated towards Evelyn are amazing. When she gets to college and things begin to happen it is not the past but the future that is pulling at your heart. It will make you see what I did, that life is too short and too uncertain. It doesn’t matter how old you are or your history, cancer will touch too many lives. I got through it!

Take my advice and read the book. I would say it is a sentimental journey, a love story and a story about the worst disease I know cancer. I hate to say I know too much about it and that is why the book spoke volumes. Read it and love it like I KNOW many will.
