Tracie Banister

An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O’Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play that she penned. (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she also starred in and tried to direct the production.)

Tracie’s dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a “real” job in order to pay her bills. The one she really wants is out of reach! Yet another fabulous story from the great writing mind if Michelle Mankin! The sub plot is another relevant issue that plagues too many woman. April is the head bartender at The Diamond  Mine. She has a best friend Mel who works with her. I liked the Mel character simply because she was caring towards April and seemed to be accepting of her distance. Things with April are strange to say the least. There is something to love about her and the dark secrets she keeps closely guarded. I won’t scream about the angst, but I will say April’s husband has a few reveals that I was shocked about.

There is a big lead up with Dizzy and it takes place through the other books. So if you have not read the others then YES you MUST READ them and you wont be lost when you hear other names like Warren “War” . Plus they are all so delicious they need to be savored like a fine wine.

YES she did it again. The boys of Tempest are stronger and better than ever! I knew when the book l started that War was out and Justin was in. So of course as you would expect there is a big drama exploding between the guys.

I think once the pissing contest ends they have a long road to find a happy medium. Not an easy one for any of them. I loved how Justin and Lace were super tight. She understood and offers comport to Justin when he was down. She gave him hope and a few pointers that made the transition to being the Tempest Lead singer a little easier.

The dynamic of the twins Avery and Justin was unique. Their story about being kids was tough. Somewhere nestled in the drama of a rock band is a story of their big hearts. They have a reveal that is so heartwarming.

The story is very meaningful for Lace and Bridgett. Their bond is strong and when she called Lace jumped up and said come and stay with me. I will leave the rest to you to enjoy, but it is sweet. When Justin meets Bridget (Lace’s only friend in drug rehab) he is smitten. She escapes to Canada asking Lace for a place to stay. THIS is all in the first 5 chapters!

Yes it is jammed packed with excitement, sex, steamy, sex, love and friends…wait there is a rock band in there with a manager that rules with an iron fist.

This was tough to read at times but at some others it was sweet and kind Moving on to book 2.

As for the book, yes it was great. The characters were really good for me in their real factor. What I loved was that they all grew up in the same low income areas, fought to stay alive and didnt get fame and fortune thrown their way. The author does an absolute service to the reader in the description of drug use, showing the consequences, and the basic cause and effect.

I think I liked Dizzy and his sister Lace more because they were not at each others side at all times. I also liked how Dizzy knew the bad things Lace was doing and let her do them. Too many books show sort of unreal relationships. His was better because he knew she was doing drugs and also too the chance that she would eventually hit rock bottom and do it on her own. As with other vices you sure cant come between an addict and her needle.

The main characters Bryan and Warren were friends who shared a few events as kids that leads to Bryan having the utmost loyalty to Warren.

The miss here for me is slight. The first is the time frame and one flashback was 2 years and one was 6 years. I think I would have loved it had it been alternating chapters of time framed references or a solid book starting with the past. The past explains the future pull between the characters so it would have been greater for me to read it that way.

A little confusion with the names too Bry & Bryan and Warren or War were bad enough but then add the character of Dizzy and a nickname of Bullet and I was lost at times.

Last on my list which, like I said was slight, is an aids test. Using needles and no threat or questions was a little strange.

If you love REAL and RAW this is for you. I loved it!
